Chattanooga, Tennessee

Well it started at 6:00am this morning when we woke up to start our journey home. We got a late start and didnt head out until 8:00 then missed a turn so took a 15min detour. After 11 hours driving we made it through Florida and to Atlanta, Georgia. Our goal was Nashville, Tennessee but we hit an hour delay in traffic through Atlanta so here we are in Chattanooga!

The 13 HOUR drive was not bad and Londyn did so good but by the time we hit Chattanooga she was DONE!!! Our destination tomorrow is Nauvoo, Illinois. Although there is not much to do in the car for 13 hours we managed to have a memorable experience. We kept seeing billboards and homemade signs for BBQ, good southern BBQ, and you know how Grey and I love BBQ! We decided we would find a true southern BBQ place for dinner. We came across these signs for a place in a little town called High Falls, Georgia. We decided to check it out. It was definately a small town (if it was even considered a true town) and the "restaurant" was exactly what you would picture an "off the beaten path" southern BBQ to look like. We thought "perfect, real BBQ". I got chicken with brunswick stew and Grey got ribs with, of course, baked potato. It was good but as Grey puts it "nothing to write home about" and here I am writing a blog about it. It was just the experience that was great!
Oh, and we crossed the Swannee River. I had to call my mom to remember the lyrics to the song about the Swannee River. Grey didnt think it was as cool as I did.
Well it is late and Londyn in not cooperating so until tomorrow.

Farewell Florida

Yes it is a little last minute but we are leaving Florida Sunday. We are so excited to come home but we will miss the friends we have made here. It has been such an incredible experience! We have lived in two different places in this short time and have visited many beaches (I guess its all the same stretch of beach). We have met some great people! Ceci I dont think you read this but I am really going to miss you! I hope we keep in touch and stay friends for a long time. If you guys do move to Utah you will be a part of our family. I know Londyn will miss Yaz a lot and so will I. You have taught me so much and I know a part of why we were supposed to come here is so I could meet you.
There are so many memories we have made here and we will definatly come back and bring family to show them the fun things we did during summer '08.
We are leaving Sunday morning and we plan on being in Nauvoo Monday night! I am so excited, I have always wanted to go to Nauvoo and now I get to experience it. We are spending all day Tuesday in Nauvoo so we can see the pageant. We will be home Thursday evening! I am excited for the next chapter in our life, to apply the things we have learned this summer.
Well I had just a minute to write but I better get back to packing. See you Soon!!!!

Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day

There's a bad day... then there is a Terrible Horrible No Good Very Bad Day! Yesterday was the second of the two and it all has to do with a horrible haircut.
Let me give you some history on why I decided to get my hair cut. Earlier this summer after being in Florida for a few weeks my already semi damaged hair was lightening from the sun. I have natural highlights so my roots were going yellow while my muddy colored ends stayed...muddy. I had to do something so I put in a few foils of bleach so it would blend my natural highlights. It looked great and after a few weeks they really started to lighten up, before I knew it I was a blonde. A blonde with really really really damaged hair. The bleach and the sun had ruined my hair so bad it was fried and frizzy! I tried different shampoos and conditioners, hot oil treatments and deep conditioning treatments but nothing worked. The more time went on and we were in the sun (it is Florida we cant stay inside all day) the worse my hair got.
That is when I decided I should just cut the damage off (I knew it would have to be short) and it would grow faster. I have had my hair short and spiky before so I thought it was no big deal. I went to the local Hair Cuttery and made an appointment. I had a consultation with the guy who was going to cut it and explained to him in detail exactly what I wanted and didnt want. I even showed pictures of what I liked and what I didnt like. He understood and we were on the same page...so I thought. As he was cutting I was watching in the mirror and it seemed he was doing a good job, the front was short but I knew it had to be to be healthy and I had been spiky in the back before so that didnt scare me. When he was done he handed me the little mirror to look at the back and spun me around to look in the mirror. It seemed to go in slow motion...when I looked in the mirror and saw what reflected back at me it took my breath away (not in the good way) I got sick to the stomache and really held back the tears. It was exactly what I didnt want, but worse! It was too short in the back to even spike, the front was up to my earlobes and the top was still the same length as when I came in! The bowl cut for girls! (Kinz, atleast you went through this horrifying cut when you were little, and it was your choice) I wanted to say something but it was so so so short and ugly I didnt want him to even try to fix it. I just wanted to get out of there! I got in the car and started crying histerically. I went home and ran inside and just cried. I decided shaving my head would be better than this ( I was not overreacting it really would have been) but I decided just to see if another salon could fix it. I called a better salon and they said they would help. There wasnt much they could do to make it look like a style without cutting it all off and that is what they did. It is very short and spiky all over! I dont even feel like me when I look in the mirror. When I was in beauty school I had the confidence to pull this cut off but now I dont. It is as short as you can go without shaving it! i have decided to spend the next few weeks in hideout and hopefully by then it will have grown enough I can make it look somewhat girly. Anyway, it was one of those days that seemed like a nightmare and you hope you could wake up from it. But this morning when I woke up my hair was still GONE!
Its my own fault and it is a lot healthier but I wish I would have gone to someone else in the first place. How would I have known though. Give me a few days and I might feel a little better but in the meantime I can take this as a learning lesson.

Where has the time gone?

I was going to wait until I got back to Florida to blog but it has been way too long since the last one. I will not be able to post pictures about all our adventures today but look forward to lots of pictures this week.
We have been here just over a week and we have been so busy. I have had so much fun, its hard to go back but we miss Grey so much we cant wait to go back to be with him. Here is all the events we have done while here, and its not over yet!
We flew in Saturday the 5th. Londyn did amazing on the plane! I had people giving me compliments for 20 min on how well she did. I hope it will be the same on the way back. We went straight from the airport to see my sister and her husband. Then went to Grandma Betty's for brunch (which was really good). After spending a good part of the early afternoon there we went home (to my parents) to rest and unpack. That night Grey's parents and brother came over for a BBQ and spent some time with Londyn. They left around 9:00pm and we checked out my parents new addition to their party yard, a projector screen and popcorn machine. We watched a movie and I have to say "We will be there every night until it is too cold to be outside" it was so fun!
Sunday after church Greys family got together for dinner and improv. I laughed so hard I was exhausted and Londyn loved playing with all the kids. Then once again that night we watched another movie outside.
Monday we went to Lagoon. Londyn, being the daredevil she is, loved the rides! She was never scared to get on a ride and she never wanted to get off. I will post pictures in a couple days of her on some rides, it was so cute and entry for her is FREE!!! Totally worth it, and it wore her out. Then there was a movie in the park that night to kick of Farmington Festival Days!
Tuesday was my birthday, so I took Londyn to a Gymnastics class at Flippers. It was so fun and Sarah and Emma were in the same class! Londyn did pretty good for her age and her first time actually having to be in the class and not just wandering. (for those of you who may not know us too well, I used to work at Flippers so Londyn was a gym bug baby her first year + of life). We went boating that afternoon, and once again my daredevil child was not pleased on the tube until the boat was going fast! My dad went as fast as he felt comfortable with her on but she still thought it wasnt fast enough and fell asleep. Rie and I got whipped around and threw in the air for another hour, it was a blast! We went to dinner (sushi) that night and Londyn gave me a great birthday gift. Just as we were finishing up she had a major blowout! it was all over her and all over the highchair, I must say out of all the blowouts we have experienced this was the worst. Thanks to my mom and sister I didnt have to clean it up, they insisted because it was my birthday (okay, I may have whined a little because it was my bday).
Wednesday night I went to dinner with Greys parents and grandparents (California Pizza Kitchen). Yeah for Thai Crunch Salad (would recommend it to anyone!)
Thursday I spent the whole day with Greys family. We went shopping most of the day, his mom went crazy on both Londyn and I. Then had a really good dinner that night and finally played cards!
Friday I went lunch with Jodee and Jenson. Jenson (her new 6 week old baby) is so stinkin' cute! It was fun to hang out with them and we will be doing more of it when I get back. That night was the childrens parade for Festival Days. My dad bought Londyn one of those little cars that you sit in and push with your feet (he wants an electric jeep but she is not old enough) my sister decorated it and they participated in the parade!
Saturday was so busy. I had a booth to set up early that morning for purses then I had Greys grandma sit at the booth while I helped with the parade (my mom has been over the parade for 5 years, and over all of festival days for 2. this was her last year, thank you, and good luck sarah!) Then we hung out at the park all day for festivities and my booth. There was a concert and dinner that night followed by a really really good firework show!
Yesterday my moms family came over for a BBQ and movie in the back yard. It was fun to see everyone.
Today we may be going to the zoo but no final plans yet. It has been a busy week and I promise to post pictures!

Visiting Home

Time flies when you're having fun! It was one month ago today when we found the plane ticket for me and Londyn to go home and visit. I thought it was so far away but here we are leaving tomorrow morning. I have been so excited to go and have thought about it everyday for a month but now that it is here I am really sad to leave Grey for 11 days. I didnt hit until now that this is the longest Grey and I will have been apart so I have mixed emotions about this trip. Grey will be busy working and we will be busy so hopefully time will go by fast because you know "time flies when you're having fun"
The one thing I am most nervous about is the 5 hour plane ride with Londyn on my lap! I might need to be locked in a padded room when I get off the plane but we will get through it. I am taking lots of books, treats, DVDs and music. That is about 2 hours of entertainment for Londyn.
We are really excited and hopefully 5:30am will be early enough that Londyn will sleep on the plane a little. We are going to bed early tonight. But we have to remember it is Independence Day! Grey has to work today from 9:00am-8:00pm but we are going to go find some fireworks after he gets off. We couldnt find anywhere that had a parade so it just isn't the same as going to Kaysville for the big parade. I am glad we will be there for Farmington's. I did try to dress Londyn a little patriotic (i will post pictures of our adventures tonight at fireworks later) but I dont have anything red!
Well I better get back to packing and cleaning, See you soon!
