Cascarones Party 2015

Date: March 27th

Friday night was the annual

Cascarones Party!

The kids totally look forward to this one.

So much in fact that they chose to ditch me to get Mom from the airport

so that they could have some smashing fun instead! ;)

So Ryan took the older ones to the party

while Laiklyn and I headed to get my Mom!

Get ready....

GO!!!!

As usual they had a blast!

And even managed to save a few eggs for our weekend guests!

Western Day

Date: March 25th

This week is Spirit Week at Diamond Canyon!

Today is Western Wednesday.

The kids were more than excited to bust out their Idaho gear!!

Ryan even lent Anden his dinner plate belt buckle.

It'll double as his lunch tray today lol

I made him practice sitting down.
That thing could bust a rib cage
or even a collar bone for that matter!

Both kids waddled out the door to school
complaining that their pants were too tight.
Welcome to wearing Wranglers kiddos lol

Needless to say our Idaho roots were proud!

Easter Decor

I sure do love decorating for Easter.

The pastels are oh so fun and adorable!

This year I added a new Easter bucket to our collection.

Laiklyn officially joined the crowd!

Little League Family Fun Day

Date: March 21st

Today they rescheduled the 

Little League Family Fun Day

and team portraits!

It was much sunnier and dryer than their last attempt!!

Taylee was a rock star rock climber!

Don't let that dress fool you!

She climbs better than the boys

even if her panties are showing for all below

(curse forgetting to wear shorts underneath lol)

Ryan had this crazy idea to have us climb the wall too.

I assured him we far surpassed the weight limit

and would pull that wall right over.

He unfortunately asked the worker that promised the wall would hold us.

However there's probably a reason no other adult wants to climb this wall.

Ryan was persistent.

I couldn't let him or the kids down.

So I succumbed to peer pressure and

let the attendant suit me up in the harness gear.

I made the mistake to ask the fellow coaches wife to take our picture.

This might not have been one of our best couple portraits.

The sun is so bright that I have veins and horns growing out of my face

and don't even get me started on Ryan's harness that 

isn't so kindly protecting his male parts.

Major Photo Fail to say the least! hahaha

After seeing this picture

I'm ever so grateful she didn't take action pics of us climbing that wall!

If we look this bad just standing there

I would be mortified to see an action shot! lol

But hey at least we were the only adults to climb the wall!

Laiklyn immediately took Ryan's hat

to hide her shame from her embarrassing parents! :)

Well at least Taylee thought we were cool!

Big Chair

Date: March 20th

Laiklyn just loves sitting in a big girl chair

at the same table as the fellow big kids!

Today she thought she could even feed herself!

 

Pinewood Derby 2015

Date: March 20th

It's that time of year again.

When parents kids diligently build and refine their 

Pinewood Derby Cars!

This year they allowed the siblings to build a car
which meant Taylee and Laiklyn made one too!
(or really that I made 3 cars!)

(you know I'm too OCD to let him paint his real car.  This was the practice car lol)

Then night before the race

Anden and Ryan went to the weigh in.

Then we may or may not have subbed out the final touches to a ringer in our ward!

Hey we're newbies at this car building stuff! ;-)

The night of the race we loaded up the gear,

had a final reminder about good sportsmanship

(Anden hates losing!)

and headed over to the church.

Grandma Kathy and Papa Larry came up to cheer Anden on as well!

The races finally began!

Anden was excited and nervous!

They called his number for his first race.

He marched on up there and got his car

And put it on the track.

He was racing his best buddy Owen.

Anden's car is in the middle lane.

Now waiting for the cars to come racing down!

Phew he took 1st place!

Next round...

And another 1st place!

Waiting and watching the others

3rd place

Finally they finished all the heats for the scouts.

So they started the sibling race while they determine the final round of scouts.

Taylee was beyond thrilled to be part of this!

She marched right up with her pink lego friends car

and took the place by storm.

(literally she blew past every car each time! lol)

It was a tad humbling for Anden to watch his little sister win each round! 

Taylee was so cute and entirely shocked and delighted each time she won!

Now they transitioned back to the Scout races

while they determined the winners of the sibling race.

They called up the 6 finalists.

Anden was thrilled he was one of them!

So was Laiklyn! :)

The final round was extremely tough

and Anden ending up taking 5th place.

He wasn't too happy about this.

But we told him how great he did anyway.

Heck we didn't even make it to the finals last year

so I consider this great improvement!

Then they called up the final 3 of the sibling race.

Wouldn't you know it

(of course we did since Taylee never lost a race)

Taylee took 1st place!!!

Her cute little personality was busting at the seams! lol

Then they announced the 3 awards

that all the scouts/siblings had voted on during the races.

Anden was delighted that he won

"Best Design"!

(Phew now he had an award to walk out with too!!)

Then Anden got to not so happily listen to Taylee

sing and dance and cheer the rest of the night

while waving her trophy around!

Maybe the sibling race wasn't such a good idea after all? lol
