March of Dimes Power Point

So I have an English power point or documentary due soon, and it is supposed to be over the same thing as our research papers were on. The topic for that was researching an organization that can help to make the world a better place. Hence, I picked the March of Dimes. Since we don't have power point at home, I've been working on it during Computer Science (we never do anything) and I've also gone to the ATC (where I have computer science) to work on it after school a few times. I've decided that power point is kinda fun; at least it's a lot better than trying to fight with our free cheap-o version called Open Office. Plus, I've learned some pretty interesting things while doing this project.

Did you know that FDR's polio and help was what started the March of Dimes in the first place? When he died, they decided to honor his great service and philanthropy by putting his face on the U.S. dime. Pretty cool, eh?

Orchestra UIL

Today we had Orchestra UIL. We played "March to the Scaffold" from Symphony Fantastique by Berlioz, the strings played a Brandenburg concerto #3, mvt 3, and we ended with the 4th mvt. of Dvorzak's Symphony #8. It was so much fun!! We made sweepstakes, too! Yay for being in a great orchestra. I'm so glad I've had the chance to be in full orchestra for 4 years, and I love Mrs. McAfee.

Midland High didn't get sweepstakes. They got a 2 and a 1. Whoops. :-)

By the way... how am I supposed to know that you guys appreciate my newfound updativeness if you don't comment? :-)

Young Women related

Dionna Bushman and I have yet to receive out Young Women Recognition. Hence, we're getting on the move now, while we still can. So.... we are doing a project of planning a stake dance. This idea was one in the manual, so we decided to do it. The stake has already invited the Abeline Stake to join us this month, and they gave us permission to do our thing, so we're going to have to decorate and provide food for two stakes. This should be fun! Apparently the theme is something jungle-ish, because we're going to decorate the gym like it's a jungle. People are supposed to come dressed as their favorite wild animal. Who came up with that weird theme?!!

Also, I'm supposed to help plan the Girls' Camp YCL skit. The theme for that is BUGS: Building Unity, Gaining Strength. The YCLs are ladybugs. So, I'm coming up with a skit that tells how a ladybug got her spots. I'm thinking it could be like that story You Are Special with the stickers. I dunno. Maybe she gets a spot for each good deed she does? And I'm kinda supposed to tie it in to the theme on unity, or something else good and spiritual. Can anyone suggest anything cool for me to do?
