I'm a Criminal

That's right; I've officially gotten on the bad side of the law. I've gone almost 19.5 years flying underneath the radar of justice, but I found out that I'm not as spotless as I thought. Today my bank account suffered the demands of society. This was the day that I found a dreaded note tucked "innocently" underneath my windshield wipers.

Check out the receipt from my wrongdoings:

In case you can't read it (click on the picture to see the full-sized version of my misfortune) or don't understand what went down, here's what happened in a nutshell:

A long long time ago I had a mom and a brother who told me it was time for me to change the registration on the car to Utah (instead of Texas), but because I have a hard time being motivated to get things done sometimes (especially when a car is involved) and because I didn't want to get rid of the beautiful Texas plates on the car, I never went to the place to change the registration. I have since been driving around in semi-fear that I'd get caught before I made time or remembered to go in. Unfortunately, I must have forgotten what city I lived in. Good ole' Provo is known for its strict police system (especially in regard to cars, parking, and college housing areas), but I seemed to temporarily forget this fact. Because I'm a nice roommate (and because my roommates beat me home), this week I parked out on the street instead of the usual spot underneath our townhouse. Today was the first day I needed to drive somewhere since Monday (boy, quite the exciting life I live, huh?). Once I made the trek to the car, I found a very weathered yellow envelope tucked under my wipers (it's snowed here since Monday).

Oops.

Thirty dollars later, I think I've learned my lesson. I'll be sure to go correctly register the car pronto.

Broken Blog

Why is my blog broken? If you haven't noticed, any time people leave comments lately, they don't show up. What's the dealio? I've had multiple people tell me that they left a comment on one of my posts and it didn't show up when they went back to look at it later. So, keep reading (and commenting... perhaps the comments will show up later), but accept my apologies for my silly blog!

BYU International Folk Dancers

A few weeks ago a group of friends and I went to the International Folk Dance concert to see my neighbor, Tesha, perform. The show was so exciting! I got tired watching the dancers just go and go nonstop. The group of friends I went with is also one of my favorites. I've loved hanging out with these people a lot more this semester. Here we are with Tesha after the show:

Are you part of the Elect?

“The elect of God comprise a very select group, an inner circle of faithful members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They are the portion of church members who are striving with all their hearts to keep the fulness of the gospel law in this life so that they can become inheritors of the fulness of gospel rewards in the life to come.” (McConkie, Mormon Doctrine, p. 217.)

Elder George Q. Cannon explained: “Where people are pure and chaste in their thoughts and actions, the Spirit of God has such power with them that they readily perceive and comprehend the truth. It is by this means that the best among the children of God are being gathered out from the various nations. Truth cleaves to truth, light to light and purity to purity. The gospel gathers with its influence those who love its principles; and if any should be gathered in who cannot abide its requirements, they pass off and mingle with the elements that are congenial to the spirit they possess.” (“The Sin of Adultery and Its Consequences,” Millennial Star, 14 Mar. 1863, p. 169.)

Compliments of the Institute Student Manual.

Ironic

Lately one of my favorite songs has been Michael Buble's "Haven't Met You Yet." This actually kind of surprises me, because I usually have to be in just the right mood to listen to any of Michael Buble's music. However, when this song comes on the radio I blast it, when I am listening to my playlist I skip to this song, and whenever I hear this song I can't help but smiling. Also, did you know this song has the perfect rhythm for dancing the Foxtrot? Not only have I been smiling over the past few weeks when I've heard this song, but I have also been breaking into dance in preparation for my test over the Foxtrot in my Social Dance class.

I was first introduced to this song when I saw that somebody had talked about loving it on somebody else's facebook wall and I went to go listen to it. Then I saw the music video on another friend's blog. Even the music video is a good one, and I usually don't watch music videos! Then, my roommate discovered it one day and played it over and over again. She decided that whenever she gets married she will put this song on her wedding DVD as the background music during the baby pictures of her and her husband. Albeit a little tacky that she's already planning her wedding when she has no boy, I love the idea and I might just steal it from her one day.

So, ironically enough, where was I when I heard this song the other day? You guessed it -- the grocery store! Again, I couldn't help but smiling.

Does my unexplained liking for this song and the fact that I hear it all the time now mean that I am about to meet someone special? I could live with that, if it does. Will I find my someone special at Macey's, perhaps? Valentine's Day is coming up soon, after all. :)
