Peter Moses Concert

We took a little fieldtrip out to Rose Tree Park with some friends today. They were holding a cute kids concert with Peter Moses in the amphitheater so it was a perfect venue for the kids. This guy really did have the heart of a kid, and Siena was just loving every second; he sang a bunch of silly songs and she was dancing to the rhythm like she does when she thinks no one is watching. I wish I had brought the camera (darn!)

Today's Outing

Can I just say: I am LOVING my new work schedule! Now Siena and I get to do fun things like go to the Fireman's Hall Museum and neighboring Elfreth's Alley right here in Philadelphia. What a fun day with all the friends and historical things to see.

The time to blog is finally FINALLY finally FINALLY here!

Between work, a trip to Utah, and Siena, I have been M.I.A. lately and have felt the void like you would not believe. Since I (like so many other blogging mommies) justify keeping a journal by blogging, the absence of the daily entries has been guilt-ridden.

Luckily, I'm back at it and have so much to share:

Siena is learning like crazy!!! Especially since we went to Utah. She's talking is both Spanish and English (we have no idea where she learns most of her English, but it's coming along great.) She's counting to ten in both languages and loves to recite the alphabet in Spanish up to L. Since we visited Ava (her cousin close in age,) Siena has been trying to learn to jump. (Ava is a pro because of the trampoline. Siena is so close, but still not getting both feet off the ground. It's okay if she doesn't get it down just yet because she's just too darn cute to watch when she's really concentrating on her jump.)

She loves bubbles, coloring, playing outside--especially at parks, riding in the car with the windows down and her hands up, sidewalk chalk, babies (luckily), eating, putting her baby to sleep, puzzles, tea parties, playing in the water, mopping the kitchen floor every chance she gets (we have started hiding the Swiffer,) and reading, reading, reading. Tickling and Hide-and-Seek are fun games for her and she always keeps us laughing.

New quirky things about Siena: she sweats profusely from her head because of all of her hair, she substitutes the letter "n" for "l" and "rr" in most words, and she's really good at praying (with our help, of course.) A typical prayer sounds like this: "Padi Cebesti, te (skips "damos") tank ewe po este dia y po la comina y po papi y mami. Te amo mucho en en nomay de Jesu Kito, A-men." We love her to death!

Juan is still loving the clinic and working on actual patients. He was taught some cool things the other day by a dental teacher in the clinic; she taught him how to extract saliva from salivary glands in your gums to check for saliva problems. Kinda cool, yeah?

He got to fly out to Utah (which was not the original plan) to surprise his dad for his birthday. It was such a funny sight to see the reaction on his parents' faces when they saw Juan suddenly show up. Both of them looked soooooo confused, then surprised, then excited and happy.

We took the trip to Utah because Abi (my best friend from our freshman year of high school) was getting married and she asked me to do her flowers. It was such an honor and I was so excited to get to be there for her wedding... which was BEAUTIFUL!

It was also a great opportunity to see our family. As you probably could guess, it was a constant party from day one: we went to a couple of weddings, a quinceanera, the zoo, the dinosaur museum at Thanksgiving Point, and even to the movies with Ava and Siena. (She made it through most of "Up" without acting up... amazing!)

Coming back was definitely hard to do. Juan is now hard-core studying for his board examination (July 9th, please keep him in your prayers :^) and I am back to working at the Day Care. Oh yeah, and now Siena goes to the Day Care with me because they changed my hours to just about 3 1/2 hours per day. It's worked out great and we're happy for the change.

Memorial Day Weekend: Part 3

While we were in VB, we went to the annual Strawberry Festival in Pungo (a town not even found in the GPS.) Although small in population, Pungo's Memorial Day Weekend festival brings in over 200,000 visitors. It was so fun to be there eating delicious Southern BBQ and a lot of strawberries, visiting with winners of the 4H livestock competition, and watching real-life pig races.
