A fun game

It's time to play 'guess what I did this morning'

Here's your first hint:

there's a parking lot near it.

Here's your second hint:

It's yellow. And blue!

And here's your last hint (this one I know is going to give it away for sure):

The local Swedish cultural society was rockin' out to ABBA at the front doors. And security looked tough.

Did you guess?

Congratulations!!

Why would I go to IKEA's opening day.... nay the very first hour of opening day?

I had to.

I just had to.

Didn't win any prizes. It was so packed, it made the place look tiny. But I have to say, they are very efficient. The town of Draper got a freeway exit blocked off, so you have to go in at one freeway exit and come out the other. I got from my door to their door in 35 minutes, including a wait in a line some 300 people long. And I was able to get out of the store just as fast (considering I had to meet Aidan at school at 11:45).

You must walk the clapper gauntlet in order to enter.

Will found a diversion. Unfortunately, he thought the other kids were infringing on his personal right to own the kiosk.

Uh, Will, we were only there for half an hour.

Here's the birthday dinner. Hmm, I thought I got a shot of the actual food. Well, it was international cuisine at our house that night. At Aidan's request, rice with sour cream, barbecue chicken, and rice noodles with tofu. I had the salade with black truffle oil, swiss cheese and salt.

And of course, there was cheesecake.

Happy 6th Birthday Aidan!

confessions of....

I have noticed a trend. About every month or so I have a Really Stupid Accident. Allow me to present this illuminating timeline:

October, 2006:
Trip to Urgent Care after spearing myself with the proverbial rusty nail.

(tetanus shots were administered)

December, 2006:
Trip to Urgent Care after inhaling a pea at Chuck-A-Rama.

Doctor was called, who replied she'd never heard of this happening to anyone before and suggested going to Urgent Care. Upon arrival at Urgent Care, was told they'd never heard of this happening to anyone before and suggested calling Doctor. Upon arriveal at examining room Urgent Care physician looked quite surprised; he was expecting pediatric patient (apparently adults never do this).

(Chest x-rays were administered. No pea found, and part of pea later coughed out.)

January, 2006
Flagging down of Police Officer in Centerville, Utah at Porter Lane and Main Street. SUV didn't stop when brakes were applied, sending SUV barreling toward Main Street. All was well, and car stopped in time, but made loud bangy noise while stopping which shook car miserably. Figured brakes had gone out. Turned on blinkers and waited ten minutes for the policeman 6 blocks away to notice. He explained bangy noise was a result of anti-lock brakes and a huge patch of black ice.

(no tickets were administered, salt was called in, apalling lack of knowlege of basic new-car technology, noted).

February, 2006
Call to Poison Control after toxic event in the basement due to droppage of fluorescent tube, breakeage of said tube, and spreadage of white toxic cloud.

(was told to evacuate basement (duh), and not inhale toxic cloud (too late). Windows were opened, and several IQ points docked.)

March, 2006
Second toxic cloud event. Encountered mysterious orange cloud near Beck street while traveling North on I-15. Very thick cloud, with a bleach-like odor and stingy feeling in the eyes.

John was called, who had never heard such a thing.

(A few more IQ points docked.)

April, 2006
Stabbed in the eye with a piece of spaghetti by one William. Spaghetti was uncooked. Eye was in stabbing pain.

John was called, who rushed home from one Aidan's soccer practice and confirmed that eyeball was still firmly in socket.

(IQ points declining exponentially.)
