Colby comes for a couple of days

Colby came to stay with us for a couple of days while his parents were away.  We were all excited, but Austin was the most excited!  He couldn't wait to start the fun!

We had an exciting couple of day!  Colby brought some animal capsules to try out.  You know, the ones you put in water and they expand.  The boys were so excited!  They got a little anxious at first and thought the animal capsules were broken because they didn't immediately turn into animals.  We had a little talk about patients and then the boys were rewarded with some fun sponge animals!

We also had fun going to soccer practice, the library and hanging out with Tahoe.  We had a great week and we were sad to see Colby go back home.  Luckily, he lives close, so it won't be long until we see him again!

Another school year begins!

Wow, the years move by so quickly!  This year all of my boys will be in school.  They range from high school to preschool and they will be in five different school!  It sounds a little crazy and it would be if it weren't for the school buses.  Thankfully, all but the preschooler will be taken to and from school on the school bus!  It will still be job trying to keep up with five different schools, but at least I don't have to drive to all of them!

For the first time ever we have a high schooler - crazy!  I can't believe Tanner is in high school this year.  He will also be starting early morning seminary - that will be fun!  The time is going by so fast.  Before we know it he will be graduating.  We are excited for him though, we hope he will have a great year!

Kaden is our lone middle schooler.  He was excited to start school!  I think he ready to move up with the big kids!

Trevor was invited to be in the Excel program.  The district selects several fourth grade students who have excelled in all subjects at school.  The district only offers two fourth grade Excel classes and Trevor was able to be in one of them.  It is, of course, offered at school that we don't normally attend.  Luckily, as I said before, the bus will be able to take him to this other school.  He will ride Tanner and Kaden's bus.  We are really excited for Trevor to have this opportunity!

I was a bit worried about Devon being at his elementary school by himself this year.  I worry that he will have a hard time without Trevor, but Devon is excited!  Maybe it will be good for him to be by himself and not have to be compared to his brothers.  We hope he will have a great year!

Austin is our preschooler and he is so excited to start!  He has been ready since the end of last school year!  He can't wait to be like his big brothers!  We are excited for him as well!  We got to visit his preschool classroom and meet his classmates and teacher.  Austin was all smiles!  He is going to have a great time at preschool!

This year the three older boys will be riding the bus together and Devon will be riding the bus by himself.  It's a little weird to have only one boy riding the elementary school bus, but I think Devon kind of likes it!

Swimming with the Sanders

Aunt Lindsay and her family came up to our house for a day of fun at the community pool!  We had a great time!  The little girls had fun splashing around in the shallow end.

The boys created lots of waves!  They spent most of their time jumping in the pool!

Remote control fun

We were invited to a remote control car rally by a friend of ours.  Her son had expressed an interest in creating an obstacle course for his remote control car and he wanted to invite some friends to try it out with him.

My boys were very excited, they love playing with remote control cars!  Several other families were also invited to come to the church gym for a morning of fast moving fun!

The kids had fun racing their cars and trying out the obstacle course.  It was also fun to trade cars and try out some new ones!

We had a fun time!  What a great idea!  We will have to do this again!

"Mom, I'm bored, there's nothing to do"

I hear this phrase a lot!  Well, on this particular day, I had an idea for the boys - building blocks.  Trevor wan't too excited at first.  He didn't see how this little kids activity could be fun.  I took his challenge, by giving him a challenge.  I told him to build a bicycle out of blocks.  He immediately told me that wasn't possible.  I encouraged him to try anyway.  Trevor is very competitive and outgoing, so he gave it a try.  I left him to his work.  I heard a couple of grumblings come from the room he was in, but then triumph - he did it!  I was impressed!

Devon wanted in on the challenge as well, only he wanted to come up with his own ideas.  In the end, the boys had fun using their creative mind to build things out of blocks - no boredom here!!!
