Colors of Autumn

Leah and I went home for my brothers wedding.  I can't remember the last time I was home to see the changing colors of the leaves.  It was a completely beautiful weekend.  Colder than what we would have liked, but still beautiful.  This is Leah with Jack, my brothers dog.  We all have a soft spot for this adorable, loving dog.  I plan to go back and journal over the part of the circle that says "Hello". Just didn't do it before taking photo.

City Museum

When we go on vacation, we always go see family so that means Indiana or San Diego. This visit to Indy, we insisted on a road trip to other places and my parents decided they wanted to join. The three of us had never been to St Louis, so we decided the Gateway Arch and the kid on via Tumblr found the City Museum. Basically, it is adult style jungle gym aka gerbil tubes made out of iron, steel, and found objects. You have to have little to no fear of heights and tight spaces.  My problem is grates that you walk on. If I can see the possibility of falling, I freeze up! BUT since it was a forced family fun moment, you just do it. All had fun!

I have been thinking about starting a Project Life style album for my daughter's senior year, so I have been gearing up with products.  Shhh! Dont tell the husband, she is only a sophomore!  But I was worried I would have to give up completely traditional scrapbooking to make it not so overwhelming for that year, but was i going to like it?  I was so happy and a big THANK YOU to Allison and Simple Stories for teaming up and bring a hybrid product to life!  Loved the sketch for November (find here) and decided that this years pumpkin patch was the perfect opportunity to try it out.  I wish I could say it was easier, but I think this first attempted took just as much time for me as traditional scrapping. I believe, I just give myself to many choices, then I am afraid to cut the paper, what if I need it for something else?  Anyone else that way?  But I did it and I love the results!  I still laugh at the title card I chose.  Way out of my comfort zone, but I think that maybe why I like it!

Singing Tree

 

 

 

 When I saw this one page sketch from Octobers Scrapbook Generation, I was trying to finish up Christmas from 2011 and I only had a couple of photo's from this event and I knew it would be perfect to help me finish! But as always the journal portion that holds me up! Just dont like my handwriting and I was out of ink! Well, my handwriting won out! Gearing up for the next blog hop! Cant wait to see what my fellow scrappers have in store!

Golf Lesson

I fell in love with Scrapbook Generation's free September 2013 Sketch and I didn't have to go far to find photo's that were perfect for the design.  I mixed it up a bit by eliminating 2 3x4 photos for a 6x4 photo that included her instructor.  Now on to use the sketch for something Disney!

Mike and Sulley

My daughter and I spent her 15th Birthday together just the two of us at my happiest place on earth, DISNEYLAND!  Being that age came with challenges.  First she didn't want to take pictures with the characters UNLESS it was ones we had never seen before. Second, she really didn't want to get autographs unless it ones she wanted. I obviously went on the hunt to find every character we had never seen!  Meet Mike and Sulley!  We had never met them so it was "ok!" per her, even thou Mike creeped her out. Can't wait to show the other first timers for us. Enjoy.

I used Sketches for Scrapbooking, Vol. 7 a 6 photo layout. I took the Christmas trees and inserted the characters. I also switched up two 6x4 photo's to a 5x7 as well as added three 3x4 on second page instead of the 6x4 and 3x3.  I hope it inspired you to look at large Christmas trees as something else. Happy Times

I normally have no rhyme or reason to what year or event I picked when I sit down to scrapbook. I found the perfect inspiration for Mother's Day 2013 at Scrapbook.com from Godschild94 and ran with it.  Normally, the photo's of that day,  feature me by myself in bed with a breakfast tray looking just "fabulous"!  (No shower, no hair brush, mismatch pj's, you get picture...)  This year that did not happen! I insisted on pictures with all my kids. This was the best of the best. I usually don't just do one pagers, but when one is all you got, go with it.

This is the final of 4 layouts that I planned for the big dance. This is may favorite layout as well. (please feel free to check out other layouts below)  I love the amount of photo's I could put on the page as well as make it appealing with some creative touches. I really love how the girls all posed for a photo, then the boys, and then a select group of friends. I chaired this event and it was a lot of work! From the decor to the sit down dinner to the after party, but it is a memory they will always have, even if they think good manners will not take them far. Now... what to scrap next?

Beautiful Girls

All the pretty girls in ball gowns, gloves, and hair pulled back.  The boys in waist coats, gloves, and hats.  Not sure who looked more impressive, but I think the nod goes to the girls.  One more layout to come!  Saving the best, for last!

Sleigh Ride

Another layout from Civil War Era Cotillion.  My best friend came up with the idea that our kids couldn't arrive in a car, but had to keep true to the era of the dance.  She rented a horse and carriage for the two couples to arrive in high style.  We didn't tell the other classmates, so the looks on every one's faces was amazing.  We all got some amazing pictures and so did the other kids who posed with by it too.  It was a perfect fit for the evening and thank goodness, it wasn't windy!

Once Upon A Time

My daughter's middle school does a Civil War Era Cotillion for there history final at the end of the year.  The girls and guys dont get to pick there partners, it just so happens that my daughter ended up with the guy she has liked all year long.  The students all learn 4 dances including a waltz as well as table manners to use for there sit down dinner.  I happened to be the mother in charge, (yes, I am CRAZY!).  The boys dress in waist coats, hats, and gloves.  The girls all wear ball gowns with hoops, gloves to elbows, and hair all pulled back and curled.  They all looked fabulous.  This is pre-dance photos.  Stay tuned for next set of layouts.

Celebrate Today Parade

 

 

I was very excited when I saw the sketch from Scrapbook Generation last night!  I jumped upstairs to pull out my parade photo's from Disney World in 2009.  We always catch one parade per visit, but this is my first parade page.  I also new I had the perfect paper from My Mind's Eye - Hip Hooray Collection also from Scrapbook Generation's Super Sketch Club from 2012 that I never put together!  Worked out perfectly!

Friends - Epcot

Where has the time gone?  Sorry!  Will try and be better about it!  This layout is from when my daughter and I visited Epcot back in February 2009.  It was so cold!  We didn't plan on being that cold! Shortly after this we purchased heavy sweatshirts and gloves!  We were very happy to stand in a semi long line to visit with the Fab 5!  Layout based on Scrapbook Generations Free March 2012 down load.  Old old paper working with here!  Only thing available to buy currently is "Friends" title from EK Success found at Michael's or Joann's as well as the dimensional buttons at the banner location.
