5th Grade Science Fair

Meghan chose NOT to do one of the projects listed as possible choices from her teacher. She went outside the box a little and thought up her own. She wanted to know which pop had the most carbonation. She designed a way to check it by using a pressure gauge. That didn't register the pressure low enough, so Mike borrowed this thingymagig from work (shhh, don't tell the government...) and they were able to record from that. It was quite ingenius! She did a great job! (so did we, cuz really...parents DO half the project!)

And then the next day, she called me from school while I was at the store. This is how the conversation went:

me: "hello?"
her: "MOM! nbahddgoahgjndgioahdgonghoahdgoddgh!!!"
me: "please say that again and slower and not yelling because I understood NONE of it".
her: "MOM, I got second place!!"
me: "AWESOME!! Now call Daddy. I gotta go, Sidney and Jonathan just ran and hid".
(oh the joys of taking kids with me to the store)

Meghan's new and very expensive accessory

She's pretty cute just naturally

OUCH! That part did not look fun at all!
Getting something or other done on those teeth...

End result. Gorgeous!!

Meghan has a pretty severe overjet and overbite (maybe that is the same thing...I don't even know). All her molars were in so we said "okay, we don't need that chunk of money just sitting in our pockets. Let's hand it over to someone else and put a lot of metal in our little girl's mouth."

So that's what we did.

This was last week (January 12th)...and she is doing really well. She hasn't even broke a bracket off yet! (like seriously...I gave her two days to do that- I guess I owe Mike $5 now!!)

Christmas 2009

I tried to scale down. Really. The kids only got one present from Santa.

However...Mom went overboard just a tad. Oops.

Continuation of the festive Holidays...

We made a Gingerbread house. The story goes like this: Jonathan approached me and said "Mom, why don't we ever make gingerbread houses? Everybody else does...". So I had guilt and I told Mike that I was going to buy one of those build-a-house kits at Walmart and he says "No way, I can MAKE the gingerbread".

So Mike proceeded to find the recipe he wanted to use and make up the dough. It took like two days just for that step. Then he baked the pieces. I think I need to stop for a second and explain a little about him so you can better picture the following image in your brain.... Mike is an engineer. Things are very cut and dried to him. Straight lines, mathematical equations, etc. So he cuts out these pieces that are HUGE! I said, "what the crap? Are we making a MANSION? I was thinking cute little cottage size gingerbread house".

Nope, not for Mike. So after letting the pieces dry and get stale for a day in the hopes that they would be able to support themselves, because really....they each weighed like 10 pounds...Mike ended up having to bake them again.

FINALLY we gathered as the loving family that we are and began to assemble the house. It was all smiles and happiness people.

Really.

And then we were done and we sent the kids to bed. The end.

(And no, we are probably NOT going to repeat this next year)

Visiting the Big Man.... A.K.A. Santa Claus

and I want this and this and this and this and this.....
hi Santa......hee hee hee hee hee hee
(no talking because this is as close as Sidney got- watching while Jonathan was taking a turn)

I wanna Bakugan, and another Bakugan, and another Bakugan....(ugh! That part was me!)

hmmmmm, well....I am kind of embarrassed that my mom is making me do this....

Oh, it was so much fun! I can't even begin to describe!! Can't wait for next year!!

She's 11- WOAH!

Meghan is our Christmastime birthday kid. (I am posting this late, but really...you all get it....this year went by too fast.)

She turned 11.

Weird.

One more year until she is in Young Womens with me.

Weirder.

Where has my cute little sweetie gone? Somehow she has been replaced by a sometimes-ornery-tweener-that-likes-boys-and-makeup diva. I am not sure I am at all pleased with the replacement, but we'll take her anyway.

Love you Meggie!!

We are family...a BYU family

Back in February when Mike told me he wanted to get a set of season tickets to the BYU football games I had no idea how much we would enjoy them. Now I know! Mike took one child to each of the games and me to one (I also gave up one of my games so that my bro-in-law Lorin could go with Mike). It was incredibly fun! First of all, the kids LOVED the time spent with their dad by themselves and second, it was to BYU! It does not get any better than that!

I was lucky enough to go (actually I was a bossy cow and called dibs) to the BYU vs Utah game. I mean rivalry people....does that mean anything? It was a great game! The second to last picture is of the fans storming the field when BYU won. Holy cow...intense!!

CAN'T WAIT FOR NEXT SEASON!!!
