6 Months

I think I forgot how fast they really do grow up!! I am loving this age! He turned 6 months on Sunday. We took him to the Dr. before we left (we are now in Utah) so we could ask about sleeping and eating. He wasn't quite 6 months but he weighed 16lbs 10oz and was 26 inches long. He has to go back for his shots when we get back so it will be interesting to see what he weighs then.

I'm sad to report that is still isn't that great of a sleeper. He got our hopes up after that first night but has only done it once since then. It's pretty random times but he has only been waking up once or twice lately. I really hope he gets better at it soon!

He also seems much happier how that he can sit up! He can sit by himself for about 5-10 minutes before falling over. He just started using his hands to balance himself too. That is for sure my favorite thing right now. He isn't too fond of his belly and just rolls over. He has a nice little back arch that he does when he wants to get up. He can move pretty far by doing it too. Eric thinks that's a sign he will be a good wrestler like his daddy! He can arch his way out of the bouncer and his car seat! He isn't a huge fan of the excersaucer. He only stays in it for about 10 minutes. That made me real sad, he was suppose to love it! He is a little spoiled for sure!

He loves to stand up and be a big boy. One of his favorite things right now is jumping on the bed with Ava. He thinks it's so funny and he has the sweetest little giggle. He loves her so much! He just watches her all day long. Sometimes when we are holding him he just busts out laughing at something Ava did and she wasn't even trying to make him smile. I LOVE it!

Things I love about Dresden:
-He little open mouth smile with no sound
-The way he puts his arms around my neck, squeezes and snuggles up
-His cute little natural mohawk. He just has more hair right down the middle.
-His big blue eyes
-The curvy shape of his mouth
-How he holds his hands up when he wants to be picked up
-That he is sitting up by himself
-His little noises and jabbering sounds
-His laugh when his is being tickled. He is so ticklish!
-How cute he looks in his little basketball shorts
-How much he adores Ava!

We love him so much! I really do love having a boy!! Sometimes I want to put bows in his hair and paint his toes but I always resist. I look forward to all the fun things that come with having a boy!

Daddy brought home a new tooth brushes for the kids. Dre LOVES his little shrek one. It's his favorite thing to chew on right now!

I was in picture taking mode after a photo session so I took some of Dresden a couple weeks ago. His was sitting up so well I couldn't resist!

2 1/2 years old

Today Ava is officially 2 1/2 years old! For some reason I feel like she should be older. I havn't done an update for her in awhile so I thought this would be a good time! She is seriously such a sweet girl and the best big sister ever! I can't believe how nice she is to Dresden. She always gives him a hug when he wakes up from naps and for some reason she never gets mad when he pulls her hair. She just laughs. She brings him toys and plays with him when he is crying. I love watching their relationship. She is kinda picky about sharing certain toys though. She loves to have him tackle and chase her.

I don't think I've ever mentioned it on here but she has been in speech therapy for about 5 months. Her therapist thinks she has apraxia (a speech disorder) but said they don't officially diagnose it til they are three. She has improved so much though. When she started she only had about 10 words that we could understand. I would say that now she has about 70 to 80. She is saying two and three word phrases and his much happier that she can communicate. She tries so hard too. I'm so proud of her! She still leaves off the end of some words but most of the time it's just delayed. Little milestones are just a big deal for us! She knows all her colors and can now say most of them! She is also starting to count more. We have a long way to go but we know she can do it!

She has also become VERY independent lately. She has to do everything by herself. Which is good and bad! She has to put on her clothes, get out her bowl, buckle her car seat, open her own cheese, and get in her chair just to name a few.

Potty training is going very well. She now goes everywhere in panties! She sleeps and takes naps in a pull up. Sometimes she stills pees a little tiny bit and then holds it til she sits on the potty. As long as we keep asking her and going before we go places she does really well. I wouldn't say she is officially potty trained but she is getting so close. She gets treats when her panties are dry. She is so cute when we ask if they are dry and looks down to check. She also really enjoys washing her hands!


She is pretty hit and miss with nursery but once she is there is likes it, especially if her friends are there. She likes to say prayers and has even reminded us a few times. She all of a sudden wants to say them before her nap too. She loves to say "amen".

Favorite activities: running, playing with her friends, swimming, climbing on everything, "making food" for all of us, and playing hide and seek is by far her very favorite thing right now. It's so dang cute. She just giggles where ever she is and hides in the most random places. I love it!

Favorite color: Pink!

Favorite book: Ice age 3 and UP! She picked them both out from Barnes and Noble all by herself and we read them every night! She has seen UP and we are taking her to Ice age 3 this week.

Favorite movie: It varies from week to week but she likes Shark Tale, Alice in Wonderland, and Bugs Life. She is funny, she likes to watch bugs when she is outside. She isn't really afraid of them.

Nicknames: Ava lue, Ava bae-ba, sweetie peetie, munchkin.

Favorite foods: Mac and Cheese, hot dogs, grapes, cheese, cookies, and banana's.

She dislikes: Listening to us, sleeping in her own bed :(, wearing clothes, and when I take to long to comb her hair.

She likes: Watching her shows, brushing her teeth, playing outside, being chased, dancing and recently she tries to sing!

I took these a couple days ago when she was playing on her slide. She loves the camera and loves to pose!

We love our little Ava so much and are so glad she is in our family!

first taste

We decided to give Dresden rice cereal a couple days ago. He is the WORST sleeper ever and we are willing to try anything! We didn't start with Ava until she was 6 months but he is close enough. I was so excited but so sad too. He all of a sudden seemed like such a big boy! He was so cute though, it's so funny watching him try and eat off a spoon. He didn't really like it so the next day we got oatmeal and he did much better. Ava never liked the rice cereal either. He is doing better at night and actually slept through the night for the first time since he was born a couple days ago. From 8 til 6 and then til 9! At least we know he can do it now.

helping daddy

Eric was working on some dentures at home and Ava thought it was so cool. She climbed up on him and wanted to help. She mostly just poked all the wax but she had fun. It was so cute. She sure loves her daddy!

rain

This was about a week ago but we were watching McKinley and the girls were playing in the pool. It was super hot but the sun wasn't out. It started raining pretty hard but the girls were loving it! Ava just kept saying "rain" and thought it was so cool. They played in it for awhile and were so sad when it stopped. Ava always has fun playing in the pool with friends!

little stinker

This is why you can't trust a quiet two year old! She was just coloring away at everything with a black marker, even her face and toes! We went to see what she was doing and I yelled "AVA" and she jumped like a mile! She tried to look innocent and like she wasn't doing anything wrong. It was actually kind of funny, we are so bad we were laughing while trying to be mad. Good thing it was washable. I wanted to take a picture so I made her stand there and she was posing. Such a little stinker but we love her anyway!
