Finally a name

Yes, we left the hospital without officially naming our baby. We have finally decided on Lucy Claire Giles. Now I just have to get the paper work finished and it will be official :) Lucy is such a good baby and fits in perfectly with our family. We are so glad she is here. The kids are adjusting well. As expected, Harrison will need a little more time. For the most part he just ignores her, but he did try to give her a pacifier today and he's only told me once to put her down. I have 3 amazing children that I love!

Our new baby, Lucy!

We have a new baby!
Lucy was born on May 26th at 7:38 pm. She weighs 6 lbs 9 oz and is 19 inches. I never experienced very many contractions yesterday. I felt a ton of pressure and was having a hard time walking. I knew she was coming and she was going to come fast. We went to the hospital and 3 hours later, with only about 1 minute of pushing, 2 1/2 pushes, she made her very quick entrance into the world. I'm very grateful for a third quick and easy delivery. She is really cute and we think that she looks a lot like Lily when Lily was first born. We have not yet picked out a middle name, so for now she is just Lucy. Things went so well we should be out of here in a few hours. Here are lots of pictures.

Harrison ate pancakes this morning and after licking the plate clean (literally) he still wanted more!

Last night, a friend from church had a freezer meal baby shower for me.  Instead of bringing baby gifts (which some people still did), everyone brought meals for our freezer.  We got over 20 freezer meals.  Thanks, Catherine!  It was a great idea and I had a lot fun.  It's going to be so nice not having to cook for awhile after the baby comes. Of course it's always nice to get some new cute things for the baby, too!  I made a dessert for the shower last night.  To get the recipe for these Cake Pops and other incredible desserts go to www.bakerella.com

Considering how long I had to stand on my feet to make these, I'm happy with how they turned out.  Definitely not the perfect circles they could have been, but you get the idea :)

Videos

Here are a couple of videos of the kids. They love to dance and they have some pretty awesome moves. The Chipmunk soundtrack is definitely a favorite of theirs right now.

Newest Addition

The newest addition to our family is our new family car, The Swagger Wagon. With baby #3 coming anytime in the next couple of weeks, we felt it time to take that next step in our lives and get a minivan. We went with the Honda Odyssey and so far we love it! Even though this video is about the Sienna, we think it is hilarious and describes perfectly how we feel about our new swaggin' ride. Don't be surprised if Tag and I post our own version of this song at some point.

Avatar, Keys, Poo, & Guard Cats!

Our baby should be arriving soon, so until then here are a few things to report on. Nothing too exciting, just a few updates and silly stories.

Avatar -
We recently purchased the movie Avatar. Lily has been very curious about it, so we let her watch some of the fun scenes. For example, when the main guy picks out his "dragon" and flies it around for the first time. I've tried to be careful about how much I let her see because it obviously is not a kids movie and has some intense fight scenes not appropriate for a 4 1/2 year old. Anyway, at a birthday party on Saturday, Lily and a bunch of kids were all jumping around in the big bounce house and one child started to cry. There were other moms over there, so I didn't rush to find out what was going on. However, I did become curious when I saw Lily talking to one of the parents. To make a long story short, Lily was getting the kids to play monsters from the movie Avatar. Boy, I sure did feel like an awesome parent. How do you explain why your sweet little girl is growling and hissing like the characters from Avatar. The only thing I could do was just joke around about it. I found myself saying things like, "What, you didn't take your 4 1/2 year old to see that movie?" Lily wants to have and Avatar themed birthday party this year, and her new favorite color is blue. She's been drawing spaceships from the movie in her notebooks and she wants to watch it everyday. To be completely honest it is a really nice break from Disney Princesses. All the girls were getting beautiful butterflies painted on their faces at the party. Lily wanted something blue to match her new favorite alien friends, so she got a blue heart swirly thing painted on her face.

Keys -
During each pregnancy I tend to have something that I continually forget to do. With Lily and Harrison it was usually turning off a running faucet. I would turn on the water and then walk out of the room with the water still running. This time I've been pretty good at remembering to turn a faucet off when I'm finished using it. My forgetfulness has now transfered over to taking the keys out of the door after I unlock it and let myself and the kids in. We shut the door and go about the rest of our day. It isn't until Tag gets home and pulls the keys out for me with that look on his face like when is she going to stop doing this, that I realize I've once again left my keys just sitting in the door. The joys of pregnancy brain!  Good thing we live in a safe neighborhood!

Poo -
Harrison is a very vocal child. His vocabulary already spans over 50 words, however, most are only understandable to me, Tag and Lily. So, his recent development in interesting conversation topics shouldn't surprise me. During church yesterday Harrison started saying, "poo poo poo!" He now likes to share with us and everyone else that is within hearing range that he has gone to the bathroom. He'll even say, "potty" when he has a wet diaper. Mmmmmmm . . . bathroom talk is my favorite!

Guard Cats -
Last week when I was playing with the kids in the front yard, a dog came over and was jumping on and licking Harrison. The cats came from inside the house and attacked the dog. It looked as if they were trying to protect Harrison. I had never seen cats do that before. Then, today we were at the park and a boy from our church was there playing with his dog. He let Lily throw the ball a few times and run around with his dog. I forgot that our cats usually follow us whenever we go to the park. Sure enough I see Katie out of the corner of my eye start to puff up and hiss. Lily and the dog were pretty far away so I went over to Katie to try to calm her down. Lily and the dog took off running and playing again and Lily let out a little bit of a scream, like most little girls do. As soon as Katie heard her scream she went after the dog and jumped right on top of her. It was crazy to watch her get so protective of the Lily. Usually when dogs are around the cats will run and hide under the car or somewhere out of sight. I never realized how protective they felt about the kids. Interesting and very funny. It was definitely something I would have sent in to America's funniest home videos if I had been taping it. I have a new respect for our cats!
