Family Home Evening

For FHE we went bowling with some friends.

Lucy 's first day of nursery at church.  I've been anxiously awaiting this day.  I probably shouldn't be so excited for her to be in the nursery class, especially since she could be our last baby.  Nonetheless, the day came and I was thrilled for her to go.  18 months is the golden age!

If you ask Lucy, "Are you cute?" this is the face she makes.  

While I was talking on the phone with my grandmother and cleaning up a spilled mess on the floor from one of my little funnys, Lucy saw that as a golden opportunity to go cause some trouble.  She went into the bathroom and climbed up onto the toilet.  From there she climbed up onto the sink, something I didn't even know she could do.  She took the vaseline off the counter, climbed down and had a blast.  She managed to rub almost half of the container of goop into her hair.  She came running into the kitchen just as I'm finishing up one mess to show me I'm about to start a whole new mess to clean up.  I wish vaseline was as easy to clean up as spilled milk.  Unfortunately, it takes several baths and a couple of days to come out.  She was so proud of herself and beaming from ear to ear.  Side note - cornstarch followed by dish soap seemed to work the best for getting it out.

The kindergarteners had a Thanksgiving feast.  They got to learn how to make soup and applesauce.  Harrison and I joined the party, then Tag came later as Lily's special V.I.P

My mother -in- law came out to celebrate the holiday with us.  Since it was a small crowd this year, I had our Thanksgiving feast catered from Boston Market and it was one of the best meals I've had to date.  We also baked cookies, stuffed a bean bag that Marilyn made for Lucy, did a puzzle, and relaxed.  It's always so nice to have Grammy visit.

First, I just added several posts so that I don't get too far behind with the holidays coming.  I'm too tired to go back and fix all the typos.  Bear with me, there are quite a few :)  Second, I've been feeling a little over blogging.  I still love to check other people's blogs.  Oh, who am I kidding.  I hate getting on the computer and have avoided it as much as possible lately.  I'm trying to figure out the next best option for me.  While I love keeping in touch with friends and family, the computer feels like a black hole of wasted time.  I don't suppose all of you would move into my neighborhood so I could just see you all the time.  I can actually hear some of my Cali friends laughing at me.  I know we aren't Laguna Beach, but we still have a lot to offer :)  I'm sure I'll get out of my dreading to blog funk eventually.

You might remember this post about Harrison's little feet.  When I saw Lucy positioned the same way my camera started calling out to me from the next room.  I love cute little baby feet.

It was time to cut it.  I'm a big fan of longer hair on boys, but we needed a change.  I knew I wanted to get it cut, but I was so worried that it would look like Jim Carrey's bowl cut on Dumb and Dumber.  You all know what Im talking about!  Well, here he is with his stylin' new cut.

Dancing The Night Away

Tag took Lily to her first Father/ Daughter dance with Girl Scouts.  She practiced her dance moves, then Tag rang the door bell to pick her up for their date.  So cute.  She had a blast and talks about her special night all the time.

Playing In The Snow

A couple of days after Halloween, we got lots and lots of beautiful, white snow.  The kids begged and pleaded to go out and play.  I figured we could spend a little bit of time outside.  I forgot how long it takes to get kids ready for the snow.  To round up the gear and get it on them took 45 minutes.  Once all the boots were laced and the gloves were pulled on, we ventured out.  Lily and Harrison made a mad dash for our snow covered yard while Lucy watched skeptically from the front steps. It was only a matter of seconds before Lily and Harrison were knee deep in oodles of fun.  I sat Lucy down on the yard so she could familiarize herself with the foreign white substance.  She tried to stand and ended up face planting into the snow.  That ended Lucy's curiosity.  She now hates the snow and insisted on watching the fun from the comfort of the front window.

Halloween 2011

The most exciting part of Halloween this year was that we grew our own pumpkins!  WE loved watching them grow this summer.  The kids loved learning about pumpkins.  It could be a tradition in the making.  This year our costumes were fairly simple.  Lily was Rapunzel, Harrison was a pirate, and Lucy was a wingless fairy.  She refused to wear the wings.  She also refused to sit for a picture.  She was going to be a ladybug, but it was so warm out that I pulled together the fairy outfit last minute.  It was nice getting to trick or treat in warm weather.  Lily and Harrison had a blast, Lucy did not enjoy it at all.  She cried if I put her down or tried to get her to go to the door.  She clung tightly to me through the entire experience.  Maybe next year.
