Without forgetting the real meaning of the day, we had a wonderful holiday Monday. Travis did not have to work nor did Steven, Meghan, Jeremy or Kayleen. Also, Paul and Robin (my in-laws) are out of school now too. We began the day enjoying homemade scones or fry bread for breakfast. These are one of my all-time favorites! I had 4 of them. YUMMY! We spent the rest of the morning and afternoon playing card games, playing horseshoes, getting some sun and simply enjoying the nice weather and good company. For dinner, we had delicious baked beans, bratwurst, grilled onions and vegetables. It was wonderful. We were sad when Steven and Meghan had to leave to head back to Mesa, but we know they like to visit often.

Carson loves all the attention he gets when everyone is around. Jeremy would take him out front and let him play in the grass. He would also sit on Grandma's lap in her chair on the front porch. Meghan, Steven and Kayleen take turns holding and playing with him. He got to enjoy swimming for his first time. He loved it. He got used to the water, which was a little chilly at first and played in it until a breeze made him too cold.

Carson just turned 7 months on Friday, 5/22 and pretty much overnight, started "army" crawling using one elbow to get himself around and now both. He will occasionally attempt to get on his hands and knees, but doesn't sustain the position for long. By the way he has been acting the last few days I have a feeling that teeth may be on their way. He has not gotten any teeth yet so this is going to be a new experience for all of us. We truly love our little boy and enjoy documenting these milestones of his life.

True "Trader Joe" Honor

We were able to travel up to Mesa this past weekend for the viewing and funeral of my uncle Joey. I was blown away by the number of people that attended both of these events. I heard someone say they counted close to 1,000 people at his funeral. He was truly a wonderful man and touched so many lives whether it was through scouting or by just being himself. His wife, my aunt Vanessa, gave his life story and she did a great job. She kept a good balance between stories that would make us laugh and those that would make us cry. She is so strong - an amazing woman. Also, his children and their spouses each shared a memory of their dad and father-in-law. I am grateful for my uncle Joey and I will miss him. He led his life always serving others and definitely showed us all by example how to live the gospel and love our Savior. Rest in Peace Uncle Joe.

Peace finally came early this morning

My uncle, Joey Mortensen, passed away this morning at 4:50 am.

We love you Uncle Joe! We will miss you but we know you are in a better place and are watching over us now. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, Aunt Vanessa and your family! We love you.

Count My Many Blessings!

#1: A Happy, Healthy Little Boy


Carson is 6-1/2 months old and growing so fast. My little baby is turning into a little boy right before my very eyes. He has a very happy disposition and smiles non-stop. I've heard Travis say many times, "Do you think his cheeks and jaw hurt at the end of the day from smiling so much?"

Weight: 18 lb, 13 oz

Height: 27"







He has started eating baby food along with his rice cereal and oatmeal. He has loved everything he has had so far. Carrots, Sweet Potatoes, Green Beans, Butternut Squash...you name it and he's devoured it.
















He is right on the verge of crawling. He hasn't quite figured out how to use his hands/arms to his benefit yet. He sure does roll and scoot alot though.
















He loves to play with Halle and Luke.


Halle is just one month older and Luke is two months older.

I love that these three have each other to grow up with.

She loves to hold him and sing songs to him. He just smiles and talks right back at her.

His most recent babbling includes "Da, da, da" and occasionally "Ma, ma, ma". :)

#2: A Great Husband

I am so grateful for such a wonderful husband. Travis works so hard to provide for Carson and me. He just recently landed himself a great job with a large construction company. He happens to be stationed currently on a project in Benson, Az. We moved down here mid-April and currently live with his parents.

#3: Great Parents & In-Laws

I am so grateful for my own parents. They have done so much for me and now are always trying to help Travis, Carson and me in any way they can. They allowed the three of us to live with them for a few months and we are truly grateful for that. We had to be out of our rental and had no where to go. I love you Mom and Dad!

I am grateful for wonderful in-laws, Paul and Robin. We now are living with them and they have been so accommodating as well. We have enjoyed the opportunity for Carson to get to know his Fenn grandparents better. I am also grateful for the help they give us with Carson. I love you both!

**Travis and I are doing great! We are slowly getting back on our feet.
