Travis finally got his Striper!

Travis finally caught his 1st striper this year from Lake Mead! He's been taking study breaks here and there to head over to the lake (which is only 10 min from our house) or down to the river. He even bought a new fishing pole with his Cabelas points. He of course needed a more heavy duty rod for the bigger fish. Ok, so this striper isn't very big but he's determined to get a big one. I helped by spotting the fish surfacing on the water. What would he do without his spotter, me? :)

Quality Niece Time

So I've had the chance to spend some time with my niece the past few days and here is the proof: Yep, those are Peter Pan hats with a pheasant feather. It was all Brighton's idea to make them when she saw the pheasant feathers. It was like 2 and 2 came together, Feather=Peter Pan. So cute. And then of course we all flew through the house. Even mom, Kristin, got one too! Oh the imaginations of 4 year olds. :) I do have to say though, I came up with the design all on my own. I was pretty proud of my contraption.

Camping at Kolob

One night this week Travis and I were realizing that it was about time we got away together and enjoyed the outdoors like we love to do and haven't done in a long while. He recently got back from San Diego at a PA Conference, and I had gone up to Provo without him to visit mom and sisters and babies, but we haven't gone away together. So on a whim we decided we'd go to Kolob Reservoir to camp and fish and get away for a day and 2 nights. We invited Stephen and Amber to come along and they happened to have been wanting to go camping that weekend too! So we piled in the truck with Lily too and headed up to Utah. Stephen and Travis fished as much as possible, so their days basically consisted of eat, sleep/nap, and fish.


Amber and I spent a lot of time sharing stories of being single and all the fun crazy stuff from those years. We made the meals and collected firewood and kept the fire company whenever the temperature cooled down. Oh, and of course made tons of smores. Check out that awesome fire we got going!



Lily of course totally enjoyed herself running everywhere, waking me up at 5:30am when Trav got up to go on a nice long walk in the morning. So I took a couple naps during the day to make up for it. It was pretty muddy from a previous storm and from the dew every morning so she was one dirty dog.



I also attempted fishing and had fun trying to catch one off the shore where I could actually see the fish in the water. I like fishing when I can see the fish. It's a lot more interesting. So we had a great weekend and loved the company!

Lily In Diapers

So Travis & I decided that we weren't going to spay Lily until we'd decided whether or not we wanted to breed her. The idea of having puppies sounds like an interesting adventure and since she's a pure bread, she'd have really cute puppies. So with all this indecisiveness, we now have a puppy in heat, which means, she's on her period. We were prepared and had bought doggy diapers before hand, but they were too big so they kept falling off. The smaller ones are a little better, but still, they fall off, and she's going to be on her "period" for 3 weeks! Ugh! At least this only occurs every 6 months, but still, annoying. I'm sure if we decide to breed her this fall or next May, there'll be a blog about it. Wish us luck! :)
