What a difference 9 months to 15 months is! Dallen is turning into his own little guy. At 9 months he learned how to crawl. At 13 months, he got walking down. Now he's testing out his running skills. Where's my baby going?! I feel like every month is more go,go,go since he's so much more mobile. Some days I seriously don't sit down and he now makes little messes everywhere he goes.
At 9 and 10 months he was into everything since he could crawl, pull himself up to stuff and go up and down the steps. He had to discover the kitchen cabinets, daddy's hunting stuff, daddy's tools, the dog toys, shoes, and most of all the continued fascination with dog food and the dog water. He still liked to cuddle with us with a bottle though.
I quickly learned that I would need to seriously baby proof everything in reach, so I reorganized my kitchen so that Dallen would have his own cabinet to play in since he insisted on hanging out in the kitchen while I would cook dinner.
I think what I've noticed the most from 9-15 months is that instead of focusing on the different stages he's going through, he's just become part of our everyday normal life. It's like I don't quite remember what life was like without him now. I feel like once he started walking he wasn't so much a baby baby anymore. I do miss the baby stages, but I really like that he's walking now too. I think I've just enjoyed every stage as it's come. There is one down side to a 14 month old boy and walking-we can't go shopping together; all he wants to do is run around the store. :P
Let's see... what other milestones do I remember...
-we took his bottle away between 11-12 months while transferring from formula to whole milk. He's never had a problem switching bottles and cups.
-he's been a pretty good eater overall, but the older he's getting the more picky he's become.
-his favorite foods right now are avocado, sausage/little smokies, mac 'n cheese, egg, and every now and then he'll eat a pea pod from the garden. That's the best I've been able to do with vegetables. I have to sneak them in his meals.
-he experienced his first bath tub accident at the beginning of August while we were staying in a hotel in Provo. It was the most disgusting bowel movement ordeal I've had to deal with yet! Ugh! Thank goodness it was in a hotel-ha!
-he figured out how to shake his head 'no' probably around 13 months. So this happens all the time while I'm trying to feed him. Grrrr...
-he LOVES to be outside and play with his push/ride car and atv, play in the sandbox, say hi to the neighbor's dogs and of course play in dirt and puddles. I basically end up chasing him around the house and up and down the street while we're outside, helping him direct his car around and keeping him away from dog poo.
-he has the funniest laugh! He laughs normal and so cute when we tickle him and play chase with him (his favorite game with us is keep away/I'm gonna get you). But then he'll do this fake laugh where he opens his mouth all the way and forces these silly laughs. It's hilarious :)
-he got his first hair cut at 14 months. Travis did it while I was out with friends. I was bummed I didn't get to take pictures and Travis said he did great and just sat there. He looks so much more like a little boy than a baby now!
-he now has 9 teeth and broke in 4 of them at once about a month ago. He had such a bad fever because of it. :( I held him all day and watched lots of movies. Teething is the pits. He bounced back quick though and was good to go the next day with a little Tylenol. Oh and with teething came a lot of beaver-like conditions on his brand new crib. So Grandma Hayman so wonderfully made a teething guard for his crib. :)
-before his horrible teething experience, he got really sick with a bacterial eye infection. He had to get on antibiotics and decongestant and pain relief medicine too. He was so needy and didn't sleep well at all for about 2 weeks! The antibiotics got him all backed up and was in pain for 2 days because of constipation. We watched a lot of movies then too. I'm so grateful that he doesn't get sick very often. Those 2-3 weeks were awful for him!
-I guess the last milestone was his car seat. We bought his forward facing car seat before his one year birthday. At his 1 year check up, he was 20lbs and 30" long. So he just barely qualified to sit forward facing. So we slowly have been transitioning him to forward facing. Around town he sits forward; on long trips he sits in his infant carrier since it's more comfortable for napping. He also still uses the infant carrier in the Ranger as well. But he sure looked big sitting in his forward facing seat for the first time!
