After working for years, the update today broke steam link. First we had reboots every 2 mins. Tried manual Update, again reboot after 2 mins so he couldnt finish the download. Had to factory reset, he updated succesfully. Since then no connection to Controller via Bluetooth nor cable. Wish i could reset to an old build.

This happened to me as well. Steam link launches, no issues, then after like 1-2 minutes it just turns off. I'm trying to roll back to the public build and see if that fixes it.

EDIT: Literally same thing happened to me. I factory reset it, now it won't recognize any controller. So I can't download any further updates or anything.

Fartttt.
Reboot loop happens on beta 925 as well on WiFi only. I can’t use a wired connection as I have terrible stability problems despite no latency or performance problems elsewhere on the network. Failing PHY, or thermal issues? There is very little information about this but WiFi is the only way to stream on my unit and this update and 924 continuously reboot.
Yeah me too. This evening it automatically updated to 925 and now it's been randomly rebooting every few minutes. Also on wifi.

I'm pretty sure I don't have a long enough ethernet cable to troubleshoot with but I'll look around.

When I tried swapping to the public.build it starts the download (which is very slow) but then inevitably reboots at about 40% complete.
This update broke streaming for me. Just errors saying there is no hardware acceleration. Refuses to connect to my PC even when setting it to software encoding. =\

Anything we can do to fix this other than wait for a hotfix that may never come? I use mine daily and this has essentially made it useless.
When selecting moonlight on the steamlink it pops up a message "No functioning hardware accelerated video decoder was detected". When trying to connect to a sunshine host it says something about a GPU error and doesn't connect. I can still connect to a steam host (the normal way, not via moonlight).

I don't have the rebooting issue others have mentioned but I'm connected via ethernet.

Not relevant to the issue but for anyone having wired connection issues, if you happen to have a Fritzbox router, make sure "Layer 2 acceleration active" is unticked in the router under packet acceleration options. When ticked this will cause a significant lag spike every 10 min or so when streaming to the steamlink.

Exactly the same problem I was having. Thankfully, I was able to downgrade to 924 and things worked fine again. Here's to hoping this isn't a trend going forward.
My Xbox one controller now disconnects frequently, then briefly reconnects and inputs some things and then loses connection again. Connection never comes back fully until I reboot the physical steam link
DO SOMETHING VALVE, YOU BROKE MY FAVORITE PIECE OF HARDWARE
Steam link app or hardware?
I was able to temporarily connect to my router via ethernet and roll back to the public build (924). So far so good.

How did you downgrade? You mean going to the public branch?
after updating to beta 925, link hardware was stuck on the steam logo with the link hardware pic

power cycling twice got it to boot normally
Could anyone who has the reboot loop revert to 924 or 922 (or any other build listed in https://media.steampowered.com/steamlink/06_2015/public_builds.txt for that matter) via the manual method detailed in the "Loading Builds while Link is not connected to Internet" section on the support page here: https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/3F04-3833-414D-454C and then try to grab the contents of the /mnt/scratch/log directory as quickly as possible after reboot?

I cannot reproduce the rebooting loop here, and the only change to 925 was a change to the watchdog script to make it *not* reboot if the wifi goes down but there's an active Ethernet connection. Just the one script file -- so absolutely nothing should have changed with hardware accelerated decoding or anything like that.

Needless to say, I'd *really* like to get logs off of one of the affected machines to see what's going on...
I actually take it back; while only one thing changed in the actual Steam Link firmware repository, I realized there's one other thing that changed -- because the Link firmware builds SDL from the same overall repository as the Steam Link apps do, *that* likely got updated as simply a side effect of "this firmware was built more recently."

So I'll dig in a bit deeper to see if there's anything there that could have caused this for folks.
