Steam Link

Steam Link

Tiny phone almost works!
I have an old Galaxy A32, with a tiny resolution of about 385x854.

Now you'd think there is no chance, but I put Steam Link on this and ran a game, and the game actually runs! Great too! But the menu.... Steam Link wants to stream Big Picture mode to my tiny little phone, and I don't think that's ever going to happen.

I'm using a Linux system, and it does have tools to shrink solution, but SL just doesn't seem to support anything below a certain point.

Is there another way I can navigate Steam Link? I currently don't have a way to remotely shutdown the connection, so once a game is started I can't exit the game and play something else, or troubleshoot. Closing it on the phone doesn't help, because the PC still thinks it's connected and running the game, so choosing to run another game just does nothing.

Is there a way to get an alternate menu? Or a method I don't know about to make tiny resolutions work? At the very least, any way to shut down a game without the menu?

Any other tips for tiny phone also appreciated.

Also: I don't know if steam still cares about this app, but if their still improving it, I hope they add a built in menu to the app itself. Always situations where someone can't access the PC menu so it would be very useful for troubleshooting or getting around issues like this.

disable steam overlay for the game

on host you can set steam to change res to match the client

in gpu control panel, create a custom resolution (385 x 854), and enable gpu scaling
steam -> settings -> remote play -> tick [change desktop res to match client]

then when you stream to the phone, it will drop to the lower res and display something on the host, then restore previous res when done
Tried, this doesn't work below supported resolution, at least it didn't for me.
the samsung galaxy a32 has a display res of 2400x1080
try that
or in the link app settings set it to 1080p
link app -> gear -> ? one of settings the pages

phones like to use a knockout/cutout area for corners and camera zones, windows/pc like square displays, so some things might not be visible using the phone
Thank you for the reply. I used a website to tell me my resolution, for some reason it gave me a tiny resolution. I'll give that a shot later and let you know how it goes.
in the phones settings page or about phone it should say its native res

a32 5g has a lower display res
720 x 1600
