Last year I saw one of my friends start a challenge to post one picture every day, and I'd often thought about doing it. I love having this blog, but the truth is that I'm always behind on it and then it becomes very overwhelming. Most of my pictures these days also come from my phone which aren't always the greatest quality, but much quicker to access in the moment. I decided to start the challenge and hope to make it a full year that I can then print into smaller flip books as a simplified journal/photo book. I thought I'd post a month at a time here as well, even though I'll likely write about many of these days individually when I have more to say about that day or other pictures to post. Anyhow, here are my posts for January.
Day 1: The kids packed their own backpacks and were determined to go to grandma's house. Emma was devastated when she learned we weren't going.
Day 2: Family goal #1 for 2017 is to read the Book of Mormon daily and to finish it by the end of the year. Amazing to be reading scriptures with my children at the same table I grew up reading them at with my family.
Day 3: Emma made snow angels, Mason shoveled the sidewalks, and mom watched from the warm house. Later I found it fitting that they played Break the Ice on this snowy day.❄
Day 4: First time watching Mary Poppins with our kiddos.☂
Day 5: We played outside in the snow☃ and 5° weather then came inside for hot cocoa and warm snuggles. I love that while I was cuddling my baby, he was cuddling his.💙
Day 6: When mom gets called off from work and it's freezing outside you have indoor picnics and play games.
Day 7: 1 of 2- With the help of his older siblings Landon was able to conquer the playplace at McDonalds today. I love how they watch over and help him.
- Day 7: 2 of 2- Fun with color tabs in the tub, yellow + red = orange. Also fun to see the contrast of their hair colors.
- Day 8: Mason trying to teach Emma how to play Minecraft. She wanted to create a princess world👸🌎. They lasted about 5 minutes.
- Day 9: We've had a busy day. Dentist appointments, a haircut, a trip to the car wash, and this evening Mason and Emma started swimming lessons!
- Day 10: My little ladies man.😍 Thankful for these sisters that keep him entertained while we wait for Emma at gymnastics.
- Day 11: Brothers💙💙
- Day 12: Trying to teach Emma to put her head under the water and get used to wearing goggles. Her fear of putting her head in the water has been slowing her progress in swimming lessons. Landon just wanted to be like his big sister.
Day 13: Rosco 🐶 8.5 yrs old, 61 lbs, unknown breed mix, loves Steven the most, hates cats, sheds like crazy, has the softest ears, loves to play tugawar, puts up with our kids, gives the saddest puppy eyes, loves to play, helps keep my kitchen floor clean, and is a loved member of our family. He had a check up today for some lumps that we recently found, and it turns out they are just lipomas (fatty tumors), not cancer or anything to worry about!
Day 14: Family dinner date at Okole Maluna Hawaiian Grill.
Day 15: 1 of 2- Steven and I now team teach Emma's CTR 4 class at church. We have the cutest kids in our class, and I love watching Steven teach.
Day 15: 2 of 2 - My parents are officially missionaries now! I'm so proud of them and their decision to serve a mission and know they will do awesome in Australia! Love you mom and dad! God be with you till we meet again....hopefully in Australia!
Day 16: Daddy took the older kids to swimming lessons which means I get some rare one-on-one time with this little man! I may be completely smitten with him. 💙
Day 17: I really hate touching raw meat, but I love to have a stalked freezer. 20 lbs should last us quite awhile.
Day 18: Sorry for the bum in the air picture,🙈 but it was the only one I got of her showing that my tub therapy seems to have paid off! She's finally wearing her goggles and putting her face in the water! It probably sounds silly, but this is huge for her and I'm so proud of her!
Day 19: Mason's turn at the dentist, and he had no cavities!😆 He has 3 wiggly teeth all in the front of his mouth, and is starting to get his 6 year old molars.
Day 20: Working the 1130a-8p shift today, something I haven't done in months. I think I prefer the early morning shifts better so I'm home by 3 or 4 and get to spend the evening with my family. So thankful though for a hard working husband that makes it so I can work just 2 days a week! I love what I do, but being a working mom certainly takes its toll. I've been amazed at how only working 2 instead of 3 days has made such a huge difference for me and our family.
Day 21: For some reason he thought daddy's head was the best seat in the house this morning. 😂😂
Day 22: These magnets have been hands down one of the best toys we've ever bought our kids. We got them for Christmas 2015 and I'm pretty sure they have been played with every single day since! I've been watching to see if they go on sale so we can add to our collection.
Day 23: Reading, Legos, and Landon playing right at my feet while I cook dinner.
Day 24: Landon loving on his baby and then making her go "swimming" while we waited to pick up Mason from school.
Day 25: Playing Legos this morning with these two munchkins before I head into work.
Day 26: I don't remember the last time my baby laid down on my lap at 10 in the morning and fell fast asleep. His sleepiness might have something to do with his 3 am shenanigans, but now he leaves me torn between just enjoying this quiet moment or getting up to switch the laundry....I think I'll stay here awhile, he'll only be little once.
Day 27: The kids showing off their obstacle course they made this morning.
Day 28: 1 of 2 My parents, Elder and Sister Wilson are on their way to Australia today.✈🌏 I'm so proud of them and pray the next 2 years go by fast!
Day 28: 2 of 2 The kids were in heaven while they played with their friends the Doltons for 5 hours straight today. They played everything from lazer tag, Xbox, legos, rode bikes, played football and who knows what else! It has truly been a tender mercy and an answered prayer for us to have friends for the kids close by. While the kids played I was feeling crafty and made a Valentines wreath for our door. Since we are renting the front door is pretty much the only thing that gets decorated!
Day 29: Mason gave his first talk in primary today and did an awesome job. We also spent majority of the day convincing him to pull out his loose tooth. It was hanging on by a thread, and Steven was finally able to catch him off guard and break it free. This is the 2nd tooth he has lost, and once it was out we could see that his new tooth has already broken through his gums.
Day 30: You know she's not feeling well when she'd rather lay on the couch than go to swim lessons. I hate when my babies don't feel well.
Day 31: Landon made another new friend while we waited at gymnastics. He really knows how to win them over with those baby blue eyes.
