Matthew Chapman Photography is now in business! Don’t let him fool you, he really can take some great pictures. He took me for my own photo shoot on Saturday. Matt put together a trip to the Northern Neck Clinic over their break in May. He had already been there a while ago for a rotation but wanted to go back. He got Cameron and Brian to go with him on Wednesday and Kimberly and I joined them Thursday night and Friday. The guys were able to get lots of good experience. And Kimberly and I were able to get some relaxation in the quiet town of Kilmarnock, VA. We found a baseball park and some shady trees to lay our blankets out and talked until the guys were done. It was so nice!
This is our AWESOME “house” we stayed in. It used to be the Free Clinic until the new building was built. The best part – almost every bedroom had its own sink. How convenient is that! The worst part – one teeny, tiny shower. We kind of felt like Will Ferrell in Elf.

What better way to start out the summer than at Virginia Beach. We only went for one night, but realized it's still worth the two-hour drive. This time we got to see some pretty cute Dachshund hounds, Cocoa and Cayenne, that were staying at the house. Now Matt wants a dog even more. Someday dear, you'll have your dog.
Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week and I was showered with gifts the whole week. I love my job and feel like the parents really appreciate the time and effort I put into teaching their children. We’ve been able to go out to eat most nights and enjoy caramel apple spiced ciders at Starbucks. These are the days I LOVE being a teacher!
Saley Renae was born yesterday! Wish I could be there to hold her and smell her sweet new-baby-smell. Congrats Mindy and Chris. Love you guys!
While I was in Utah for Bethany's wedding, I was also able to see family. Friday afternoon I hung out with Ann and her cute girls at their beautiful new house.
That night my family got together for dinner. It's great to see all my nieces and nephews. I love them to pieces!
Before the wedding reception, Ann wanted me to take some pictures of her girls in their Easter dresses. They looked so cute. Trying to get an almost-three-year-old and an 8 month old to both look at the camera at the same time is very tricky!

Bethany and I have been best friends since 8th Grade and even though school and life have tried to get in the way we still manage to be there for each other for our greatest moments.
I made the trek to Utah for the weekend and spent a whole 30 hours before getting back on a plane. It was a SUPER quick trip but so worth it.
Brett and Bethany were married on May 2nd in the Draper Temple. Although it was raining, I followed them and their photographer, Matt McFarland and his shadow (my brother Corey), as they took pictures. Bethany said she felt famous with so many cameras around. And you deserve to be treated like a star!

The Best of Friends
Our Ward had a campout at the beautiful Pocahontas State Park. We got there after work and school Friday night and had a small "fireside" (with no fire) about the importance of Family Home Evening. That night we hung out by the fire with some friends in the ward.
The next morning we had some classes on Emergency Preparedness and other things like gardening and food storage. It was really good. We didn't stay long - Matt discovered that his allergies were in full bloom while mine have tapered off for the season.
But we definitely want to go back to Pocahontas some time in the summer - they have a pool! That's my kind of camping!
We went with Brian and Kimberly to the settlement of Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the U.S, founded on May 14, 1607. First we went through the Native American settlement where we got to walk through homes, grind corn, and watch a volunteer cut herself while showing us how to make a rock shard. I'm sure Native Americans had a first aid kit in 1607.
Then we went to the shipyard, my favorite part. It was neat to be able to go inside and see how the sailors lived, and to see how small the captain's quarters were - not like in the movies.
The next part was the settlement. The best was when Matt and Brian put on the armor - Matt has on the smallest breastplate with the biggest helmet, and Brian has the biggest breastplate with the smallest helmet. I love how they keep us entertained!
