We are so happy our little Peanut has arrived safely. We have instantly fallen in love with our early Christmas present.
More details of her birth day coming soon. For now we’re just loving getting to know this precious little girl.
This pregnancy is so different than the first time around. We are continually hit with new surprises. Last Tuesday we went into the hospital to have an External Cephalic Version (ECV) done to try to turn our confused little girl. The nurse hooked me up to the monitors for a while to make sure everything looked ok with me and baby. They also had to put in an IV just in case something went wrong. My doctor came in with another doctor and the nurse gave me some medicine to relax my uterus so I wouldn’t have contractions or go into labor. And then the stomach manipulation began. One doctor took position at the bottom of my belly and the other was at the top. They pushed and prodded to try to get the baby to turn head down. They tried three times. The second time they thought they had it and when my doctor took her hands off to check with the ultrasound, the baby went right back where she was. After the third try the doctors stopped and we realized this baby was very comfortable where she was and wasn’t going to move. They monitored me and the baby for awhile. I had to have oxygen to help her heart go back up since she was a bit distressed – she didn’t think it was all that fun and neither did I. The procedure was pretty painful, so it was good it didn’t last very long.

I had another appt on Friday and everything looked great – except for the fact that she was still breech. One good (but expensive) thing about all this is that I’ve had mini-ultrasounds at every appt. We get lots of sneak peaks of our little girl!
38 weeks 5 days:
My appt yesterday revealed some new surprises. The doctor did a more thorough ultrasound to check on baby’s size. We found out that she is measuring very small for how far along I am. The different parts the doctor measured showed that she was closer to about 35 weeks gestation and estimated that she is about 5lbs 7oz. The doctor said measurements aren’t as accurate at this stage in pregnancy but thinks baby girl is in the 10th percentile. So she’s super tiny. The doctor also checked the amniotic fluid level and noticed it was low. I was put on some monitors to make sure baby girl’s heart rate looked good, which it did.
The doctor said the low fluid levels and her small size are concerning and she wants me to go back to have it checked again. This baby girl is sure keeping us on our toes! But I’m so glad we have modern technology so we can catch these things before it becomes more serious. So we have the C-section scheduled for my due date (Dec 29th) but it may be sooner than that if the fluid levels get worse.

Thanks to Pinterest we learned how to make bubble bath paint. Lily LOVES it!
I turned 28. Lily and I celebrated by painting our nails.
I made some banana bread and muffins.
Matt surprised me with a Boston Crème Cake. SO Yummy!
Matt was taking a Sunday nap and Lily wanted to make sure he was warm enough. She’s very thoughtful.
Lily loves helping me out in the kitchen. It gets a bit messy but it’s fun.
Matt loves to take Lily’s art sessions to the next level. This time Lily was the canvas. She loved it.
Lily and I went to a really fun story time at the local Library with Skippy Jon Jones!
She had a blast listening to the story, getting kitty whiskers and nose, and making a maraca.
We are really starting to love our new town.
This year Thanksgiving was just the three of us. It was a nice, relaxing day complete with kite flying in the morning and family naptime in the afternoon. And a bit of play dough time thrown in there too.
It was a bit of a challenge finding the right things to make and not have way too many leftovers. We went with a single turkey breast, one mashed sweet potato, two small bowls of green-bean casserole (luckily our bowls are oven-safe so it worked out perfectly), and apple sage stuffing. It was just the right amount for the three of us with leftovers for the next day.
And for dessert I made the cutest little 5 inch pies.
Can that piece of pumpkin pie get any cuter?!

Lately, it seems that anytime we get in the car Lily get extra sleepy. We never know when she’s going to take a nap these days. On this particular day she must have been extra tired. Anything Matt did she slept right through. So we decided to have an early lunch at the Children’s Museum Café while she slept.

Matt built this house. I think he was having more fun than Lily was. A little boy was in awe of his amazing building skills!
They had some extra boards so they built a dog house and an even smaller squirrel house. I didn’t get pictures of the squirrel house before they dismantled it. These kids were having a blast!
This museum has gotten all kinds of awards and mentioned in magazines for being one of the top Children’s Museum for their arts. They definitely had lots of fun arts and crafts for Lily to do.
With some help from Mom and Dad of course.
The best part: it only costs $3 for kids and $4 for adults! Love that!
33 weeks:
I haven’t been as good about documenting this pregnancy. It seems to be flying by! I’m 36 weeks now and definitely feeling the weight of this baby. I have to consciously think about how I walk so I don’t waddle – one of my least favorite parts of pregnancy. I can feel her move all the time and notice that her movements have slowed down now that she’s running out of room. We haven’t nailed down a name yet, got a few we’re thinking about but nothing set. I get heartburn more than I did with Lily which hasn’t been very fun.
Finding a doctor has been harder than I thought. I was hoping to continue with a midwife but there doesn’t seem to be very many here unless I want to go to the community health center. We went to the dr last week to meet the dr that might deliver our baby – you never really know who will be there. But this dr said she does deliver most of her patient’s babies so we’ll see. Baby girl is healthy and we got to see her briefly in an ultrasound. We also found out that she is a little confused and is still in the “head up” breech position. This was not the news I was hoping to get.
So now we are waiting to see if she will turn on her own before my next weekly appointment. I am REALLY hoping that she does because if she doesn’t then we’ll have to go to the hospital and the dr will try to move her manually. Come on little one! You can do it!
35 weeks:
I’m starting to get the “nesting” instinct and wanted to get our apartment ready for our new little one. It seems to be hitting me later along in the pregnancy than it did the first time around. I think I’m in denial that we still have lots of time before she gets here.
