Our Last Night

On our last night before Lily came we took my mom to Carytown and the New York Deli. It was super yummy. Then we treated ourselves to a movie at the Byrd Theater, which none of us really liked but it was nice to get out.

snowed in again

This is the second weekend in a row that we have been hit by a big snow storm. The last snow storm didn’t even melt all the way before the second one hit. For those of you not in Virginia, this is not normal. We usually get maybe one storm all winter, and melts away after a day or two. We are now on our third storm of the season and the second time Church has been cancelled.

This was a picture from last week. We got 11 inches of snow. Our neighbors made a little sledding hill and used the top of a tupperware tub as a sled. It was pretty funny to watch as the front end of the lid would get stuck and the little boy would get thrown into the snow.

The snow is beautiful and  all, but it sure puts a damper on our weekends. The first weekend it was a nice excuse to stay inside relaxing and watching movies, but this weekend we are going a little stir crazy. We even toyed with the idea of going to the mall, just to get out of the house. But after scraping off about a foot of snow from our cars we decided we’d had enough of a distraction to make staying inside seem not so bad.

And here’s pictures of the storm we got yesterday. Not as much as last week, rain during the night melted some of it.

The snow was melting off the roof of our apartment and literally hanging over the ledge. I took this picture through the window (too cold and wet to actually step outside), hence the window pane in the corner.

So, to pass the time Matt has done a lot of video gaming.

I’ve done a lot of pacing around the apartment, cleaning, making and writing Thank You cards (they seem never-ending), and putting together a baby book for our little one.

Today we combined with the two other wards in our building for Sacrament only. It was sure nice to be able to get out of the apartment, even if it was only to go to church.

We’ve realized recently how truly blessed we are to have so many loving people around us. We haven’t had to buy many things for our little girl and it’s all thanks to the generosity of others. We can’t even begin to express the gratitude we feel knowing that our little one will have everything she needs and then some. So thank you to all who have given of your time, talents, and money to help us in this new adventure.

So…whenever you’re ready Little One, it’s ok with us…

We ventured up north to the Temple two weekends ago. While we were driving up there we played leap frog with France and Lindsay (France is in school with Matt), and Austin and Mana. Austin and Mana are both 3rd year dental students. Can you imagine their dinner time conversations. It was fun to be able to go through the session with people we knew. After we were done at the temple Mana introduced us to Persian food. Turns out Persian food isn’t so bad. We both agreed that we would be willing to try it again.

This makes me happy :) Warmer weather is coming…
