Chilly Zoo Day

I know, right?

How many posts can we possibly do about zoo visits?

I'll keep this one short.  There were just a couple of priceless photos.

Aren't all photos of my babies priceless?

These three had so much fun wandering in and out of all of these tangled branches.

It was a freezing cold day.  So, we really enjoyed the indoor exhibits.

And it made us all really happy when this sweet ape came right up to the glass to be so social.

I couldn't help thinking when I saw this monkey that if Lanaya came back as a monkey, she might be this one.  Until I saw this one's backside.  Suffice it to say, my friends and I about died laughing.  If you want to be slightly disturbed, check this link.

We love our little friends!

Banaya Bear 10-Month Looks/11-Month Attitude

The saddest part about getting so far behind is that by the time I get to a "X-Month" post for Lanaya, I don't remember exactly what she was doing at that time.  So, today, I'm going to share what she is doing now, with her 10-month photos.

She still smiles like this.

But, her hair no longer looks like this.  We're a little sad about that.

She still attracts plenty of attention when we go out, though.  No one can resist those sweet cheeks.  And now that it's warming up, her thighs are attracting quite a bit of attention as well.  They are amazing.

And unlike my shy boys, she has a sweet smile for all of her admirers, whether we know them or not.  I've never had a baby thrive on social interaction the way she does.  She LOVES people.  She doesn't care how old they are, or anything else.  So long as they are willing to smile and interact with her, she is happy.

I have a friend who squeezes her cheeks every time she sees her.  Every time.  And Lanaya has started shaking with excitement every time we see this friend.

She also shakes with excitement every time I walk into the room.  It's nice to be the best person in someone's world.  We are best buddies.

And she shakes with excitement when she sees food.  Yogurt, crackers, bananas.  You name it.  So far, strawberries are her absolute favorite.  She pretty much refused to eat anything else for the first couple of days after being introduced to strawberries.  She would just yell at me until I got them out and cut them into bites for her.  She would very happily be a fruitarian.

Truthfully though, she would happily be just about anything.  She is just happy.

Even when she makes bizarre faces like this.

She does get mad on occasion, but mostly just when she isn't being fed as quickly as she would like.  The girl is an eater.  She gets that from me.  So, at least I can relate.  But, I don't yell when my tummy isn't being filled instantly.  She also gets upset when someone takes a toy she is particularly interested in.  You wouldn't think this would be such a big problem since everyone else here is past babyhood.  But, the kids think it's so cute and funny when she's mad that they sometimes do this on purpose.  We are working on this.

Make sure you notice how fabulous her hair is from the side.
This girl love love loves her siblings.  She gets so happy and excited any time she sees them. This morning she was unusually quiet when she first woke up and I was changing her diaper.  Then she heard the other kids talking in the kitchen and she started yelling (a happy, friendly yell) to try and get their attention.  So cute.

She's been clapping for a few weeks now.  She just started saying, "Uh oh" (sounds a bit more like "uh uh") and pushing away from whatever she's leaning on to stand on her own for a few moments before going back to leaning.

It looks like he's, uh, leaning.

I love every stage and she is certainly entering a very fun one, but a little bit of my heart breaks with every milestone we reach and every phase we leave behind, just because I know she won't ever be that way again.

I happened to walk in and find her smiling in her sleep like this one day.  It was just too precious to not take a picture.

Which pretty much sums up the essence of who she is.  She really is precious and perfection.  I could not ask for a sweeter baby.

No Common Theme

But, we fall more and more behind every day.  And I'm sure you're losing as much sleep over that fact as I am.

So, we had to throw together some random photos into one post.

Times are hard.  Everyone needs to make some sacrifices.

Mangoes have been on sale.  Lanaya is a big fan of the pit.  Unfortunately, the pit is invariably slippery.  Which makes her very mad.  And her "mad" might be so entertaining that some of her siblings intentionally upset her just to hear her rant.

At the beginning of April, Uncle Casey returned from a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Hong Kong.  Blake went out to see him in mid-April and e brought the kids these shirts from Uncle Casey.  Kayli and Bryce were pretty excited about theirs.  Trey is now, but initially, well... you can see how he felt.

Although, that's a combination of the new shirt and us wanting him to sit and smile *gasp* for the camera.  It takes him time to "warm up" to new clothing.  Just one more layer of his complicated little personality.

About this same time Lanaya started being able to stand and lean on the furniture.

So cute.  It almost helps my breaking heart feel better about her growing up.

Not sure that this photo needs any explanation.  Not sure I could really give one anyway.

Just had to document those cute chubby thighs at 10-months.

And a sweet little ponytail.  I love that the short hairs around it still stick straight up.

Babes

Lanaya had several friends born around the same time.  When you're a baby, time of birth is pretty much the only qualification for friendship.

A few of them got together for some fun during Spring Break.  The girls all have really awesome hair.

I hope these two will one day be as great of friends as their mommies.

Lanaya needs to learn how to pose like this.

You can tell how much fun they have all hanging out together.

They are tight.

Lens caps are yummy!

Best Photo Shoot Since We Had Four Kids

Best taken by me, that is.

And I'm just going to let you enjoy the pictures.

Happy Easter!

Easter

So, we've gotten a little bit behind.

This is the only usable photo from the Easter Egg Hunt and breakfast we had at church the day before Easter.

Trey took off running when we told him it was his turn to gather eggs.  Which is totally understandable, right?  I mean, when someone tells me they've hidden candy that is mine for the taking, I always get really really mad.

That night was time for our traditional Resurrection Cookies.

Love this little face.

And these.

Mmmm... aren't those the most kissable cheeks?

This is becoming one of my favorite Easter traditions.  I love the way it gets them all involved and interested in listening to the story of Jesus Christ's death and Resurrection.

Forgot to take any pictures of the cookies on Easter morning, before we ate them.  In the words of Trey, they were "yumma".

Easter Morning

Everyone was pretty excited.

Kayli was so sweet to help Trey find eggs

He was pretty excited about all the candy this time around

I took 4,000 (or so) pictures of them with their baskets.  Four smiles at the same moment are nearly impossible to catch.  I love Lanaya's face in this one, though.

There's a little more cheer.

Sorry.  I know these posts are kind of heavy on my baby.  What can I say?  I love her.

Not any more than I love all of these other people, of course.  They just don't have her sweet cheeks.  But, they did have a lot of fun putting together this marble game.

And then it was time for breakfast.  Bunny Buns.

This little sleepy face wasn't quite sure what to do with hers.

And then the Easter Bunny remembered one last piece of candy, carefully hidden.  If you know the Easter Bunny, you can make special requests for specific Easter goodies.  Thus, the excited look on his face.

And, just in case you were wondering--he did sleep in that nice white shirt.  Taking his shirt on and off was so difficult for the first few weeks following his surgery, he just slept in whatever shirt he'd had on for the day.  He was sleeping in a recliner, so it was good times all around.
