Every Dad Has His Day

As with the rest of the summer, I can't remember what we did to celebrate Father's Day this year, but fortunately, for all of us, I have pictures!

Love moments like this.  They were reading Harry Potter together.  One of them clearly found it more interesting than the other.

I love my dad.

I broke his toaster while I was living at his house.  So, he was the lucky recipient of a brand new toaster from me for Father's Day.

Just like any good daughter would do.

Trying to look like dads.  Because a mustache is really all it takes.

I am so grateful for the fabulous fathers Blake and I both have.  And that their fabulousness is now spilling over to our children.  Love it!

KFR 2014

Family Reunion time!

Means having fun playing made up games with your cousins.

Washing your car with your cousins.  And maybe getting into trouble for it.

Playing "cups" with your cousins.

Taking pictures of your sisters while they do all the work.

Bonding time with your siblings.

Cheesing for the camera.

Being rescued by your cousin when you get yourself into a mess.

Finding cousins to look up to, in so many ways.

Eating smashmallows.

Pestering sweet puppies with your cousins.

Burning your marshmallow, just the way you like it.

Playing around the fire pit, largely unsupervised.

Dealing with the aftermath of your brother finding a container of Vaseline when you're supposed to be sleeping in your tent.

Story time with uncles who tell really good stories.

(At least, that's what I think he was doing.  I can't remember.  But he does tell really good stories.)

Putting on skits made up with your cousins.

Finding the perfect mug for your gun-loving uncle.

Our reunion took place near a small town where our grandpa was from, so we spent one day there.

Weeding with Grandma.

Fitting all of the cousins in a wagon.  Westward, Ho!

I'm pretty sure this was Grandpa's house.  Curse my memory problems!

I have no idea what this is, but it seemed like such a scary tool to have in your front yard.  It was huge!

Happy campers.  They were supposed to be napping, I think.

Touring the inside of the house.

So glad my kids don't have to go up and down a ladder like this to get a drink of water in the middle of the night.

I can't imagine cooking on a stove like this with little children running around!

Did I mention how fortunate my kids are in having really cool older cousins that enjoy spending time with them?

This one takes after his dad and is just full of super fun-ness.  And was such a blessing to our volatile little Trey.

That's a bunch of our kiddies peaking out of the large barn window.  It is amazing my grandpa (and other children of that era) survived their childhood!

I'm sad I don't remember much from this family reunion.  I had forgotten it completely until I came across the photos on my computer.  But, the kids have filled me in on what a great time they had.  And I don't think I'll ever forget how much I love my family and can't get enough of being together with them.

Random Happy Moments

And the days continued.

One day my aunt and uncle came through and I got to hang out with them.  I love these two!

She's not crying.  She is overwhelmed by her joy at finding Grandpa's boots.

So cute!

I'm not sure how joyful this moment was, as you can tell by my sorta fake smile.  This was on the doorstep of one of all the many homes we looked at during the less-than-fun process of home buying.  I think this was our second visit to this one, if I recall correctly.  And it was all accessible.  Which meant that the stove was right down at the kids level.  It was pretty sweet.

Surprisingly, we didn't buy this one.

Friends At The Farm

I can't help myself.  I just think she's so dang cute.

Mid-summer we got to meet up with some friends from back at the North Pole while they were in town visiting family.

What better place for a reunion of two best buddies than at a farm?

Not to be left out.

Watching the pretty pigs.

Driving the tractor.

And then we hitched a ride on the wagon.  I love that they wanted to put their arms around each other.

It was such a good time!

Lanaya decided she'd had enough walking and hitched a ride with my friend and her cute baby instead.

These three were the perfect remedy for our homesick hearts!
