Everyday Life

We have had the most beautiful weather this week. Tonight the sunset was unreal. The temp. has been in the 80"s during the day, but there is a nice chill to the air in the mornings and nights. I took the kids to the park today. We went to the same park a month ago, and it is amazing how much Hanks is growing. Not size wise, because I think he is shrinking since we took his bottle away, but things he can do. A month ago, he needed help and had a hard time with some of the steps, now he does everything himself and just runs wild.

Is it bad to laugh when your kids get dizzy and fall?????

On Monday for family night, we let Hadlee go and pick out a few pumpkins. She was so excited all day. We have a farmer down the street that sales them, and she had been begging to stop for a few days. We also put up some fall and Halloween decorations that day. She had so much fun, and loves candy corn. (Gross)

Yes, the sun was bright, but then again she always smiles kind of funny.

My two kids couldn't be more different. Hadlee can be entertained with a show, crayons, a book or any toy for hours. Not Hanks. He is not content to do anything, except be outside. He is always at my feet and always wanting me. He repeats "Mommy, Mommy, Mommy," or "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy," over and over again. Most of the time he really doesn't want anything, just our attention.

Colby was off a few days at the beginning of this last week. We haven't been out in our yard to do real yard work for a few years.....seriously. One of the lilac branches had snapped with all the snow we got this spring and it needed pruned and hauled away. That's all I asked him to do, next thing I know, Edward Scissor Hands had Trimmed and cut down over half of the trees in our backyard. This turned into a two day project, with loads to the dump. Hanks loved spending this time with his dad, and would follow him everywhere. Since then he has turned into a daddy's boy, which is fine by me. When it's time for bed, he now wants Colby to carry him down.

Did I mention that he got in his first little fight at school. I guess only a father could be proud. They said that him and an older boy were fighting over a toy.(Hanks had it first.) The bigger boy won, and Hanks got mad and shoved him. The kid turned around and hit Hanks in the face. Next thing they knew they were on the ground wrestling. Hanks was left with a little cut under his eye, but that was it. Colby was glad he stood up for himself, I'm not so sure.

Hanks will be two next month, I really don't know where the last two years have gone. He is so fun, he repeats everything. It is especially fun to listen to him say prayers, he repeats everything Colby says. He is very affectionate. If you get mad at him at all, he says he is sorry a few minutes later. He also thinks "kisses" cure everything. If he falls, stubs his toe, or bangs his arm, a kiss from me makes everything better. He is always coming up to everyone and kissing their ouch-ies.
Colby is always blowing on Hanks stomach with his mouth, we call them raspberries. He now thinks he can do them too, but instead of just blowing, he spits all over ya, Especially when he has just eaten a cookie or something, you end up with a chocolate mess all over your cheek.

Hadlee and Hanks broke the little TV in her room. Totally knocked it off the dresser while playing too rough. I thought Colby would be mad, but he simply told her, "Accidents happen." If it would have been anyone but his little girl, he would have been mad. So.... she has not been watching as many movies, and she has really never watched much regular TV. So now she wants to watch shows in the living room, and she surprises me the things she wants to watch. She has gotten so big, now she wants to watch shows on the Disney channel that aren't cartoons. My little girl is too little for Hanna Montana, it kind of makes me sad.

When Hadlee doesn't want to do something, she wines and says "I'm too little." Lately when she doesn't want to do something she says, "Mom, I'm too busy." What do I say to that????? Has she heard me say that to her???? I hope not.

Hadlee loves both sets of her Grandparents, and loves being at their houses. It seems like they have all been out of town a lot lately. Just tonight she was begging me to go to Grandma's and pick raspberries. And every time we come up 1600 North to our house, she always wants to turn off and go to the Jacobson's, "Turn here, turn here," she says. She always tells me that "Grandpa needs Kisses." We will be glad when all of the hunts are over with so they will all be home more.

School is just school. I am doing okay in my classes. I'm not the "A" student I wanted to be, but I am doing okay for the time I get to spend. I try to do most of my homework while the kids are having a nap or are in bed for the night. I could spend a lot more time studying, but as soon as I sit down, Hanks always crawls up in my lap and that's the end of that. I promised myself that me going to school would not effect my kids, so when It comes to homework, or my kids, my kids always win. My kids don't care if I get "B's."

Grandpa Cregg and Shaun both got their Elk's last week. Colby was able to hunt with his dad for 4 1/2 days, and the day he came home, Cregg shot his bull. I think Cregg loved having his son spending time with him, in his favorite place in the world. It's so sad that life gets so crazy. They hadn't been on that many horse rides together in years.

Hanks was obsessed with the Elk when they brought them home. He kept using this really gruff, loud voice and would yell and say, "Grandpa's Elk." He would follow Bo around and do what ever he was doing. He thinks he is so big when he is being Bo's little shadow. He's the little brother Bo never wanted, but he is nice and treats him so good.

I think thats it.....I know this stuff is boring, but it is stuff I want to remember.

Fall is Here!!!

I'm having one of those pitty-party days. I just got home from a long day at work and have a million things I should be doing....... Putting away laundry, picking up the house, and heaven forbid doing my homework and studying for my quiz tomorrow. AND.....I have no one to complain to. Colby is still out hunting with his dad. (Not that he really listens anyways, but at least he pats me on the head, and lets me vent. I think most of the time he thinks I am from another planet, but that's a whole other story.)
So instead, I will blog about something that I am happy about. Fall is my favorite season. I love when the air gets crisp and cooler. It rained the past few days and it has really started to feel like fall. I am ready for a change in seasons and the fall holidays.... YEA!!!
We went up camping this past weekend. It was beautiful on Friday and Saturday. It was cool enough for a sweatshirt most of the day, but the sun was out and was gorgeous.
Pictures of the kids out playing.
I love the look on her face in this one....hahaha.

Hanks is still obsessed with 4-wheelers and would be riding every second if we would let him. We were on a ride when we saw Colby coming back on the horse. So he got to ride back to camp with his dad.

Then Hads had to have rides too.

It was so beautiful.

Then came Sunday and the rain. Although it was pretty, it is no fun be stuck inside with two kids who are begging to go out.

So me and the kids came home with DeAnne on Sunday night. It seems like the leaves started to change overnight, as soon as the rain started.
The best part of coming home is clean kids. I can't believe how dirty they get.

The boys are still out hunting, Colby will be home tomorrow because he has to work tomorrow night. SO......I had better get doing some homework, I don't want the kids to have a drop-out for a mother. Hahaha. I shouldn't laugh, it could happen.

What we have been up too!!!!

We just spend the last few days in Lake Powell. It is seriously the prettiest place on earth.

But for journal-ing purposes, I need to start back with last weekend.

My mom went on her bear hunt the last weekend in August. Colby and I were unable to go because of work. She is amazing, not only was she hunting with like 8 guys and a bunch of loud dogs, but she was also the camp cook. She took the 4th bear they tree-ed. Way to go JONE-Y!!!

Hanks is such a fun kid. He still goes on the potty every once in a while and likes to say."I'm Big." So we took his bottle away about a week and a half ago, and he has been just fine. He sometimes asks for it, and gives me his pout-y face, which makes me totally want to give in. We were only giving it to him at night, and at naps. Then that turned into, when we go somewhere and need to him to be good and quiet. It was more for us then him. And why is it that we have a harder time taking things away then our kids do without them??????

We took off to Lake Powell late Wednesday night. We stayed on our houseboat with our friends the Josephson's.

What a difference a year makes....... or maybe it was having a few swimming lessons.......or maybe it's because we went to the pool so much the summer. What ever it was, I love it. Hadlee has become a little fish. Last year, she liked the water, and knew the life jacket held her up, but she still wanted us close. This year she liked to count and jump into the water, off of the boat and houseboat.

She has became a little swimmer and loves diving into the water, and swimming on her front and back. She has really grown up.

Before she tries something new, she wines and fusses. Colby made her go down the slide and after that she was fine. These pictures are of her going down the first time. I told her we had to take them so Grandma would believe her.

We were worried about the weather, because it was supposed be stormy, but it was great. It was a little cloudy for a few hours on two of the days, and the wind blew for a few hours one night, but that was it. We were lucky. But...... we did bend Blake's prop on some rocks, so that put an end to a lot of the water sports.

We loved going exploring and playing at different spots in the water.

Hanks has taken 3 swimming lessons, and they really stress floating and relaxing on your back. He has that mastered, puts his hands behind his head and just chills.

He is at a hard age to have down there, but he has to learn sometime.

This one would have been a cute family picture, if Colby and I weren't so fat.

The kids watching shows while we fix dinner.

Just give us a beach and we are in heaven.
