Happy Girl

Emmry smiles all the time and is just one happy girl!

I love her to pieces!

St. George, UT

Emmry survived her first road trip. She did awesome! We only stopped once, but it worked out great because it was our dinner time too!

We loaded up late afternoon last Thursday and came home on Sunday. A perfect time away. Tage was able to spend time with his 'other Mom' and Ty, Emmry, Zeus and I just hung out (yes, we had to bring Zeus! He is part of our family too ya know!). We got to the hotel really late on Thursday so Friday morning Tage met up with his other Mom. He painted a pumpkin, watched movies, and played the wii probably more than he should have. But hey, I'm just sayin'.

On Friday Ty and I walked along paved trails, took a short hike, got Cafe Rio for lunch (a must have when we are in Utah) and just hung out in the hotel room. Saturday we boarded Zeus at doggie camp for the day so we went to the Dinosaur Museum, took a tour of Brigham Young's winter house, ate at the Pizza Factory (their bread sticks are to die for!), walked around the Temple grounds and through the visitor center, took a walk and just relaxed. Perfect!

Taking a hike with a sweet sleeping baby on my chest. Ahhhhhh, so cute.

Overall we had a great weekend! The weather was overcast and drizzly the whole time. Nice and refreshing if you ask me, I completely enjoyed it! I was nice to get away for a short time.

When....

When am I ever going to have a clean house again?
When am I ever going to feel like I am on top of my laundry? (putting it away is a HUGE challenge)
When is Emmry going to have a schedule? Therefore I can have a schedule too.
When am I going to be 'ready for the day' at least by 9:00am on a regular basis?
When are my abs going to return?
When am I going to not be stressed at the 5:00pm making dinner/Emmry feeding/Dad getting home/Tage cranky time?
When are we going to do family pictures?
When will I sit down to he table and have a hot meal again?
When will I be able to eat that hot meal with both my hands free?
When am I going to finish Emmry's blessing dress?
When am I going to get a pedicure?
When is my pantry going to be full again?
When am I going to go to the grocery store? And not just getting the things I 'need' for the next 2 days.
When will the dark circles go away from below my eyes so I don't have to try to cover them up with make-up?
When will I bake a pumpkin pie?
When will I be able to eat chocolate and not have Emmry throw up?
When?
When?
When?

How to fall asleep

I keep forgetting to write this down. So finally I am.

Note: this is pre-delivery time

One morning when I asked Tage how he slept, he said good. He then asked me how I slept. I told him fine, but it took me a long time to finally fall asleep (now post delivery, I definitely don't have that problem. I hit the pillow and I am out like a light!). He then proceeded to tell me how to fall asleep...

"Ok, all you have to do is close your eyes and then the sleep will come. That is what I do and I sleep all night like 20 hours."

Not the "M" Word!

Emmry is one month old today!!
She was once this...
and now she is this....

She is growing too fast! And I am one of those Moms that is already saying STOP GROWING UP!

I love my little Emmry so much. I never realized that love can be this strong.
Dear Emmry,
Just one month ago you came into this world. What a special day that was for both of us. The veil between Heaven and Earth was very thin and I could feel Gods presence near. You are such a perfect angel. You are beautiful. You are so loved.
You gave a real smile for the first time when you were about 2 1/2 weeks old and have been smiling more and more everyday. I love it when you smile in your sleep too and think that it is so funny when you laugh in your sleep. You are such a happy baby. I could just stare at you all day. I have to force myself to put you down so I can do other things. I love holding your tiny body. I love it when you sleep on my chest and we take naps together.
You decided that you don't like chocolate. You threw up alot and I think that it upset your little tummy. So I now have not had any chocolate for 2 weeks. I hope that you out grow that soon because I really like chocolate.
I am trying to take in all these precious newborn moments. I don't want to miss anything. I don't mind the 2 am feedings or even if you are fussy when you should be sleeping. Although you figured out your "days and nights" within the first 2 weeks. Good job! I could feed you during the night and you usually go right back to sleep.
I love you so much sweetheart. You are such a blessing to me. I am so happy that you are here with me. I love being a mommy. I love you.
Love,
Mom

Content

It is said that when a baby is sound asleep and content, they have their arms stretched out over their head and look so peaceful.

yep, she is!

Come and Gone

My Grandma, Mom, Dad, Wesley and Michelle came to visit! My Mom and Grandma came in town on Wednesday the 6th, Grandma Baird left on Saturday morning, but then my Dad, brother and sister came in on Monday!

They left this morning. I cried even before they left. But before they left my Dad gave me a wonderful Fathers blessing. I am so grateful to have a Dad that honors his priesthood and is willing to give me a blessing.

I cried as Emmry and I waved goodbye. And then we snuggled on the couch together and I cried some more. Then we both fell asleep and had a really good morning nap.

My Mom and Grandma were my cleaning fairies. They cleaned practically my whole house! Washing blinds, walls and baseboards too! It was so good to have them here. Not only for the cleaning (thank you, thank you!) but I actually got really sick the day that they came in town. I was really achy, had a temperature of 102* and my left breast hurt. I ended up going to the Dr. the next day. It was so helpful to have my Mom entertain Tage and my Grandma babysit Emmry while I went to the Dr. It could have been just the flu, who knows, but by Saturday I was feeling so much better. (Although I am still having issues with my left breast. Darn clogged ducts. I about wanted to give up breastfeeding.) It was so helpful during that time because I would really just try to rest and my Mom and Grandma would take care of Emmry and everything else and just bring her to me when I needed to feed her. It was so nice not to have to worry about making one meal, getting Tage breakfast and out the door for school, and laundry.

It was so nice to have my Grandma come out for a few days. I know she really needed a break from life and I am so glad she decided to come. We completely enjoyed having her here!

GG (Great Grandma, we call her GG) had the special touch to always put Emmry right to sleep. One time my Mom was holding her and her eyes were wide open, when she got passed onto GG her eyes shut instantly. So if we wanted Emmry to sleep, we just handed her over to GG!

General Conference

We don't have cable so we had to watch conference on the computer. Ty pulled in Zeus's couch into the office so it was a little bit more comfortable than sitting on the floor
I can't say that I watched every talk this conference. Emmry got more of my attention. But what I did hear was really good. President Monson's talk on gratitude was just what Tage should hear....let's just say we will be having a family home evening on that topic. I will definitely be reading the talks when they come out in the Ensign next month. I'm going to find time to watch them online too. Pieced together I am sure. I guess I have to get used to not being able to watch a full movie or anything now that Emmry will be interrupting them.

First Bath

I gave Emmry had her first bath today! She was content for the first little bit and I think enjoyed it...

...but then wanted to get out and eat

(love the dirty dishes in the background! But hey, that homemade bread my Mom made was deeeelish!)

*Note to self: bathe her after eating so she is calm and will relax to take a good nap!
