Stormy September

It’s been very stormy and rainy for weeks, with lots of thunder and lightning almost every afternoon. We’ve spent many days at home because it floods when it rains here, and our street has flooded multiple times. The rain has also brought out frogs and all kinds of insects. We even had a rainbow! Thankfully, the power has only gone out a few times, so at least we’ve been spared too many power outages.

Brad & Ryan Visit

Brad and Ryan came to La Paz for a visit to celebrate Brad’s 45th birthday.

The weather wasn’t the best during their visit, but luckily we would usually make it home around 2:30 or 3:00 each afternoon just before the rain started. The first few days we mostly stayed close to home. We made a few trips to the grocery store, pharmacy and nearby restaurants. We spent plenty of time hanging out at home with snacks and made tacos for dinner a few nights. Of course, we also spent some time on the roof!

On Brad’s birthday, we ventured out to the Malecón for some shopping and lunch. We ended up at La Paz Lapa where we had amazing drinks and food. The next day we headed to El Coromuel Beach. It was surprisingly busy. Brad and Ryan ordered a Super Watermelon and the picture doesn’t even do justice to the size of it. It was HUGE!

On the last day of their visit, the guys got tattoos. Brad added to his mountain and tree tattoo with a night sky and constellations. Larry covered the spider on his forearm with some creepy faces. Ryan and I went to lunch while they were in the tattoo chairs.

After the tattoos, we all went out to dinner at Costa Hermosa. It was a great way to end their visit and a perfect “last” dinner before they headed home. 

Kati's August Crafts

I didn't do any crafts this month since I was in Oregon for two weeks. I did keep up with my scrap journal though! I had fun finding little pieces from my trip to use in my pages. I used the ORE letters from orejas (Mexican pastry) for the day I left for Oregon. I cut up the program from Carson's play and used the Pentacle Theatre logo for the day I saw the play. For the day I flew home, I used the Alaska Airlines logo from one of their magazines.

I love finding everyday things and turning them into little memories in my journal!

Kati to Oregon

I flew home this morning after a two-week visit to Oregon, and what a busy, but FUN, two weeks it was!

I managed to squeeze in time with so many people. I saw Carson and Ara in Catch Me If You Can at Pentacle Theatre. I took my Mom, her friend Kris, and Adam to the show. I had dinner with Carson and Ara a few times, although somehow we forgot to take a single picture! I had breakfast with my Dad (also no picture). I saw my Mother-in-Law and Larry’s uncle, Curt. I met up with my bestie, Debbie, for coffee. We chatted for FOUR hours, so clearly we had some catching up to do!

I had several meals with Adam and helped him with a little adulting along the way. I met up with Tom and Heidi at Redhawk Vineyards, where we shared some wine and a charcuterie board. I had dinner with Corey and Melody at Roadhouse Grill. I met up with Trish and Taylor. I even had breakfast with Nancy, my middle school home economics teacher. How fun is that?

A big part of my trip was spending time helping my Mom. I accompanied her to doctor appointments, went through her things with her, and took two large trips to Goodwill. I labeled drawers, took her to get her hair cut, and helped purchase some things she needed. We even played a little joke on Carson by pretending she had driven his car around the block.

Of course, there was plenty of time for some Kati stuff too! I did some shopping, spent an hour wandering around Hobby Lobby just looking at everything, had three rings repaired, got a new debit card, got my eyebrows threaded, and received a Stitch Fix box. I also had multiple lunches with my Mom in the Boone Ridge dining room. I went through TONS of old pictures and drove by our old house.

Somehow, I managed to fit all of that into just two weeks!

It was a busy trip, but such a great one. I got to spend time with family and friends, help my Mom, take care of a few things I can’t easily do from Mexico, and make some really good memories along the way.

It was a GREAT visit!
