Family Fun!

Yesterday afternoon we had some family time with just us!  We swam...even me in the freezing cold water!  The boys got the water torpedo guns for Christmas, so we finally opened them up.  The torpedos shoot underwater so all three of my boys had to play with those for awhile!

We had barbecued steaks, corn on the cob, pasta salad, and watermelon for dinner.  We have been watching a lot of the Olympics too!  It was a lazy summer Saturday!

Lunch date

I had some cute lunch dates the other day!  Thanks to my Mom for bringing them to the park near my work!

Ticks and bronchitis

The other day Larry noticed that Copper had a large bump in his neck area and realized it was a tick.  Upon further examination and a bath, Larry took five ticks off of Copper.  We hadn't noticed any since that time, but have kept a close eye on him.  Fast forward to last night when Adam told my Mom he had a bump on his head.  My Mom looked and sure enough there was a tick!  Apparently, he was a trooper and just let her pull it out without whining or freaking out.  These ticks have to be from camping as we don't have ticks where we live.  I've never seen one until now.  I called the nurse at the Dr.'s office just to make sure he didn't need to be seen, etc.  As long as he doesn't have a rash/fever he should be okay.  Gives me the heebie jeebies though...yuck!

I haven't been feeling well for a week so I finally made the trek to the Doctor and I have bronchitis.  I have antibiotics, sudafed (I asked for it!), and an antihistamine to help with a runny nose and allergies.  I'm taking it easy this weekend so I can get over this crud.

Vacation extras

I took 13 days off and while camping and Mount St. Helens were our major outings, we did a lot of other fun things close to home.

We took my Dad out for a belated Father's Day lunch.  We went to A&W and then walked over to Dairy Queen for ice cream.  Adam was not a fan of his cherry Arctic Freeze and said "it tastes like medicine!"

We hung out in our backyard, I read and got some sun while the boys swam!

We ran errands and I decided to wear my heart sunglasses...

We had friends over for a BBQ and Copper got in on the watermelon eating!

We had bark dust delivered and Larry spread it all!  I wasn't feeling well at all and he let me rest!  Good Hubby!

It was a nice time away from work and the weather was perfect!  Sunny and 80's all week long!  Can't complain about that at all!

Trisha's 21st

Today we went to North Dallas Bar & Grill to celebrate Trisha's 21st Birthday!

She got some presents and a lot of drinks!  She held her own though!  We sat outside and it was a lovely afternoon/early evening.

I made her a little drink bouquet that turned out pretty cute too!  Renee made her a strawberry cake with strawberry frosting that was delicious. 



Mount St. Helens

Yesterday we took a day trip to Mount St. Helens!  It was a three hour drive each way!  We went to the Johnston Ridge Observatory where we ate our picnic lunch, looked through the observatory, watched a movie about the 1980 eruption, and took a lot of pictures. 

After the long drive, we figured we would let the boys run around for a bit during our lunch break.  A little girl tapped on my Mom to tell her there was a $100 fine to be off the paved trail!  Ooops!  We obviously didn't see the numerous signs posted! 

The boys each "smashed" a penny which revealed the mountain or a state of Washington on the penny.

We are about 5 miles from the mountain in these pictures!  It felt much closer though, like we could reach out and touch the mountain.  The pictures don't really do it justice on how close it felt.
