Lake Summerville

A few weekends back our good friends the Buchanans invited us on their boat. It was a much better experience than our previous weekend before boating. The lake wasn't crowded AT ALL, the water wasn't nearly as choppy and the kids (and adults) had a blast!

This time around Boston had a much more successful ride on the tube. Last time his face went in the water and it made him a little nervous. Thankfully, we were able to convince him to try it again (although he did it ONE time and was over it).

The kids favorite part was jumping in the water. They lived for when we'd stop the boat and they could jump off the back into the water OVER AND OVER! The water was actually pretty shallow since we've had such a dry summer here which had its pros and cons.

Hudson did really well. They had a canopy over part of the boat so I sat in the shade the whole time with him and he sat contently. He'd get in the water to cool off when we stopped the boat and I'm sure he enjoyed that! I did feel bad that he had to wear that big ole life jacket the whole day but he was a trooper.

Then it was the ladies turn on the tube! It was hilarious and so much fun! We put on quite the show for the kids and husbands!

Sweet Millie loved to help with Hudson. She is a doll!

These two boys are so cute together and have such a cute friendship. Anytime we leave town Boston always says, "Mom, is Kyler going to miss me?" That's all he cares about when we leave.

And last but not least, we pulled out the wakeboard. The Buchanans were the only ones who had done it before (pros) so the rest of us were pretty much all amateurs. Kent tried and tried and TRIED but just couldn't manage to get up! I seriously thought he was going to snap the rope in half. Once I finally got my turn after a few hard falls, I finally got up! I was SO proud to show up my husband! He has excuses to this day about WHY HE didn't get up and I did. I just don't think he can accept that I'm pretty much better than him!

We had a GREAT day and were totally worn out afterwards (and pretty sore the next day too). Thanks for a great day out on the lake Buchanans and Crawfords!

6 months

Well, he's actually sneaking up on 7 months but since we were gone to Louisiana for a few weeks, we just made it to the doctor today. Here are his stats:

Weight: 20.05--83%

Height: 26 1/2 inches--25%

Head: 17 1/2 inches--70%

Here is Boston at the same age. Boston looked SO much chunkier but in fact Hudson actually weighs 1/2 a pound MORE at this age. Guess they carry their weight differently. They are the exact same height at this age (although Boston was in the 50% and Hudson is in the 25%...I don't understand how that works but whatever).

Hudson is our happy baby. If he's on the ground and hears you calling for him, he wiggles his arms and legs really fast like this....

He's wanting SO bad to move. He gets up like this all the time and in the last few days has even lunged himself forward (which ends in cries either out of fear or he lunges too hard and hurts himself). When he's on his belly he'll just go round and round in circles. If I walk out of the room and come back he's in a totally different place facing a totally different direction.

He's getting SO much better at sitting up. I rarely even put anything behind him to cushion his fall any more because he's managed to stay up pretty well this last little while.

We've pulled the highchair out of storage and started feeding this boy some solids. He LOVES it all (squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, & green beans have been tested & tried so far). He SCREAMS SOOOOO LOUD if you don't feed him fast enough. I'm still wanting to try pureeing my own baby food but haven't done it quite yet.

Lucky Hudson boy now gets a sippy cup. He gets so excited when I pull it out. He loves to chew on it (probably because it feels nice on his gums) but then gets really frustrated if he can't tip it far enough for liquid to come out. Just like his brother did, he wants me to hold it for him.

He's gotten in TWO teeth so far. Drool is CONSTANTLY coming out of this boy's mouth. At the same time, this kid LOVES to stick ANYTHING and EVERYTHING in his mouth. I never experienced this with Boston so this keeps me on my toes. He's quick to snatch at anything and grabs quicker than you can blink.

This kid can SCREAM incredibly LOUD. He has some SERIOUS pipes. My least favorite time of day is from 5-8 pm. Between trying to get dinner on, entertain a 4 year old, a 6 month old, take sales calls for the business, and get kids ready and in bed, I'm EXHAUSTED by the end of the night. What would it be like with THREE? I can't even think about that. Hopefully by then Kent will be around at night to help out.

Our little fluffy haired, blue eyed, smiley big boy is sweet one....although I do feel like he'll be my busy boy once he gets on the move. Heaven help us all!

I'm Proud to be an American

I got home Sunday after spending TWO weeks in Louisiana with family. We had our annual 4th together with my family. Kent came just for a few days but then had to head back to work.

I love that ALL the cousins get to spend time together!

We also were lucky to have the Heath's come over from Houston to join in on our 4th. Melessa and Kristin were close friends in Kansas. Then funny enough, when we moved to Houston, Melessa was moving to Houston too and we ended up in the same ward! Perfect right?

This year we tried something new....our FIRST ANNUAL FAMILY OLYMPICS! It was a HIT (okay, maybe I'm bias since I planned it all). The first competition...chocolate pie eating contest.

Kent dominated in like 2 seconds flat! I didn't even see him down it. I blinked and it was GONE!

Kelli brought home her boyfriend, Tanner. It was fun to get to know him a little better.

Then it was the kids turn to eat the pies.

I think Rylee or Anna won this one.

Next, we sucked jello through a straw....daddy dominated.

The kids had a turn and again I think Anna or Rylee won.

Next was the water balloon toss. The kids were VERY anxious for this one, so they went first. Again, I'm pretty sure Rylee & Anna won. Charlie and Boston were out on the first toss (although I kept grabbing more water balloons and trying again...determination? I like it!)

In the meantime, the men had their annual pool basketball. It gets competitive and people get hurt every year.

The adults had their turn at the balloon toss. Kent and I were SO close but sadly placed 2nd after Kelli and Tanner.

No worries, we came back in the three legged race!

The kids did surprisingly well. I had to coach Boston and Charlie the whole way but they were rather impressive and only fell once.

Then of course we BBQ'ed some DELICIOUS food and swam until it got dark.

Charlie was still a TAD nervous this year but managed to stay outside for the whole show.

Then it was time for the big show. The boys did a pretty great show this year and it could be possibly ranked as the best one to date.
