My son

Max says the funniest things and this week was no exception. My Aunt Kellie lives in Payette but just started a new job in Eagle so she will be staying with us for a while and this was the first week. She gets up around 6 AM and gets ready for work. Max usually gets up and goes to the bathroom around that same time. I would say that 90% of the time he comes into our bathroom and then climbs into bed with us for a bit. Well, nice and early Tuesday morning he runs into our room for the usual BUT he must have heard the blow dryer because half way to our bathroom he turns around and runs to his. All that Scott and I heard was his feet, the squeak of the door and OOHHHH! Then Max was back in a flash to our room. He didn't say anything then but at breakfast we had to ask. So Scott says "Max, was Aunt Kellie decent?" All that Max was able to get out as he dropped his head into his hands was "I don't want to talk about it."
How cute is that! It may be one of those things you had to see but we thought it was hilarious. That's our new punch line around the house, I don't want to talk about it.... I talked to Kellie about it later that night and she said that no she was not decent and he got the backside view. If you know Kellie at all you can just imagine how we laughed and laughed about this one. Oh the fun times we have!!

We're having a.....

GIRL!!!!

Yesterday was the day, our ultrasound. Everything looks great and it's a girl. I have to say I was a little surprised but we're so excited. We took Max with us so he could see for himself whether we had a brother or a sister. If you remember he was set on the baby being a brother and had his name picked out and was against a sister completely. He even told someone he would send her back if he got a sister. We were a little nervous about how he would react but he was so cute! When we got to that part and the ultrasound tech said it's a girl, Max said "I was just teasing, I really wanted a sister!" How cute is that! He didn't even miss a beat! I think that he will be a great big brother. He can't wait to teach her how to shoot and play baseball. What a kid! And apparently, no girly girls allowed here. If anyone has name ideas, we're open for suggestions!
This is her whole body, it looks like she's doing crunches. She gets that from me!

She has her hand over her head here, just like Max likes to.

Her cute little leg and foot!

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree....

We usually head to the hills and search for that perfect tree but with the price of gas and the ever decreasing bladder space, we went down the street a mile and found it in 5 minutes. We had just as much fun as we would have in the hills but the trip was much shorter. It was great to go straight home and be decorating in 10 minutes. We found a beautiful, big tree and it was just $25. Fun times! Max was so excited and loved it. Here are some pictures. Our tree looks a little bare but we love it. Merry Christmas! We hope you are all enjoying the season as much as we are.

Family pictures

We did family pictures in October and I am finally getting around to posting them. Yeah, I'm a bit slow but here they are.

All the grandkids and grandma. Eleven of the little angels...and three more on the way.

Becki's family: Brad, Becki, Emma, Russell, Will, Izzy and the baby in the tummy.

Us: Scott, Heather, Max and the baby in the tummy.

Carrie's Fam: Jeremy, Carrie, Kayla, Jennie, Ammon and a boy baby in the tummy.

Sarah's Fam: Steven, Sarah, Mason, Madox and Laney. NO baby in the tummy and boy is she happy!

Mom and her girls

The whole Maxine McCombs Clan (insane a bit, but fun)

That's our crazy, ever growing family that I love so much. Hope you enjoyed seeing all the old faces but especially the new ones.

Bow Chika Wow Wow...

Boy can he shake those hips.... He gets that from his Dad. He saw this on the preview for the "Chipmunks" movie and thought it was so hilarious. This is his favorite thing to do now and is now a 'running' joke in our family. The things we do for fun. Hope you enjoy.

I need help...

Yes, I am fairly computer dumb. I can't figure out how to change my template without deleting a bunch of stuff. Can anyone help me with this?

Your computer illiterate friend,

Precious times

I have been feeling the baby now for about two or three weeks. I know it sounds weird but I really did feel 'him' at about 15 weeks. You can be skeptical, I was when my sister felt hers at 14. But the more you have the sooner you recognize them. For me it's just where the baby is sitting, in the very, very front. The kicking has been getting stronger and stronger which is great. Yesterday I was sitting on the couch and this kid was going to town in there! I called Max to come over and see if he could feel the baby move. He put his little hand on my tummy and started talking to the baby. It was so cute. He said 'Hi baby brother. This is your big brother Max. I bet you thought you were the big brother but I'm the big brother.' And then BOOM, the baby kicked his hand! I asked him if he felt it and he showed me where the baby kicked his hand. It was so precious! He is so excited to be a big brother and to teach the baby all he knows.

Scott felt the baby move later on last night. It was great. This baby is a mover for sure. I'm a little worried for when he gets out and learns how to crawl.... ;)

Baby update

The baby is growing and moving around like a crazy person. I went to the doctor last Thursday and all is well. I gained one pound and now that I can almost eat again I'm sure that number will go up, up, up! Not bad for 18 weeks! For those of you who believe the 'old wives tale' about heartbeats, it is 166, this month. So, whatever that means, boy, girl... HEALTHY! Next time we'll have pictures to post and I'll let you know what we're having. Any guesses out there?? Let's see who the winner's are!

Life is good

I see that I haven't posted in awhile. It's because life is good. Lots of fun times and funny times but times that were spent together. I love my family! It's funny how Max can be gone for 3 hours and I miss him so much. School is going to be tough on me! Scott is studying like a mad man so he is missed too. Maybe it's the wacky hormones but I am so thankful for my family. They are the very best and all that I could ask for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Have you ever...?

I was just thinking today and this is what I came up with. Lots of random thoughts but I thought they were fun. It's rainy and gloomy here so lots of time for thinking.

Have you ever....

Started the washer and forgot to put the clothes in?

Been so mad you wanted to cry?

Been so sad you wanted to scream?

Wanted to be a kid again but then remembered your kids and were thankful to be grown?

Remembered a smell that took you back to a special time?

Sang your favorite song with the radio blasting and the windows down? (no kids for this one)

Listened to someone else just to listen?

Needed someone to just listen?

Truly loved and been loved?

Missed somebody so bad it hurt?

Fallen down and hoped that nobody saw you?

Cuddled up in a blanket and watched movies on a yucky day?

Feel free to add to my list, I will. It was fun to make.

Chinese food anyone??

I have been having the biggest cravings for Chinese food. I could eat it EVERY day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. MMMmmmmmm!! But it has to be Qwik Wok in Meridianand it can only be Kung Pao Chicken and Fried rice. I don't know why but it does. YUM! Doesn't that sound delicious! I could eat some right now. It's funny how our bodies work, but isn't it wonderful!

Since we've been going a bit Max really likes opening the fortune cookies. He doesn't eat them but loves to open them. This last time that we went Max's fortune cookie was right on. Here's his fortune

---- "When the flowers bloom, so will great joy in your life." ----

So fitting for the little guy!!

Vampires at our house!

My sister, Sarah, calls me the other day and says "Heather, Mason said that Max told Miss Becky that you have Vampires at your house!"

I said, "What......"

So, I went to the source, MAX! I asked him, Max did you tell your teacher that we have vampires at our house. Very casually from my 5 year old as he's watching Scooby Doo, YES. So, I asked him where the vampires are, thinking of course he's making it up. He says, by the snakes of course. As if I was supposed to know all this. Logically my next question is, where are the snakes. Thinking this whole time he's been outside some where by our ditch and playing with snakes. I think he sensed my worry and said "Mom, they're wooden of course". Now that got me thinking.... They're wooden! And then it dawned on me, duh! My good friend had made me the CUTEST Halloween decorations, a witch, a mummy and a vampire with a snake at his feet!

I called Sarah back and we had the best laugh! Vampires at our house, what was I thinking!

TAG, you're it!

Sarah tagged me....

The rules: Each player lists 6 facts/habits about themselves. At the end of the post, the player then tags 6 people.

1. I hate listing facts about me. Really, I do. What I know, I just know and can't ever think of something to list. I love and hate these games.

2. Alright, one down 5 to go. I'll think of some real facts.....Hmmmm.... Okay, here we go. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE being a MOM. Max is the best kid and makes it so fun to be a mom. He has his moments but it really is fun. We love to play and laugh and hug, it's the best. And now another baby for all the same and more fun times. We all can't wait!

3. I am 31 years old and yes, I am afraid of the dark and under my bed. Not terrified like when we were little but definitely some irrational fears there. It all goes back to when my parents, bless their hearts, liked to watch the show " The Twilight Zone". On this episode there were monster men under every ones bed and if you went out after dark one of these monster men would get you and take you to who knows where. BUT if it was the monster man from under your bed you would be safe. So, the 10 year old boy figured out that he had a monster man under his bed and they became 'friends'. He thought he would be safe all the time since he knew the monster man was his friend. So, long story short, he went out and some other monster man got him. Now, seriously, would you let your child watch this? No, i don't think so! 20 Years later, I am still afraid of the monster man that I KNOW does not exist, but alas, that is my IRRATIONAL fear. At least one of them !

4. I hate clutter. HATE IT! I hate when things pile up on my counter. I can't stand to have stuff things all over the floor. These things drive me batty. If I come to you house and you have piles and piles of things piled up it does not bother me, not a bit. But if it's at my house, I can't stand it. Honestly, I get a little anxious and irritable. But, I'm working on it and I'm doing much better!

5. I love to workout. I love to run. It feels so good to do those things. I love to have a strong and healthy body. I love to sweat. Gross I know but it's true. I haven't been able to do these things for about 3 months but it is COMPLETELY worth it. I will do it again in 6 or so months. I highly recommend trying anything that will make you sweat, you'll feel great when you're done.

6. Sixth and final fact/habit. Hmmm, it's getting tougher. I love to sleep. Oooh, I love it. It's so relaxing and you usually feel so great when you wake up. Scott had to answer questions about me for a Relief Society lesson. One of the questions was 'What would Heather do if she had spare time?' Answer 'Sleep, of course'. He's so good! (It was a little competition and we won, so cute). But since I've been pregnant I've not been able to sleep very well. Again, well worth it but I do miss my sleep! Happy dreams everyone!

I tag Julie and Brecca. Since I only have four friends and Sarah sent this to Carrie, Julie and Brecca are my only friends left. Good luck Jules and Brec!

Training wheels, who needs 'em??

This is my Max, isn't he cute? Look at that mischievous little grin! He's such the little dare devil, must be a boy thing. Earlier this Spring his cousin tried to teach him to ride his bike without training wheels and I have to say for a 4 and 5 year old they did really well.

Now that it's October, Scott and I decided for Family Night we would teach him how to ride. Ha ha, I say we would teach but he jumped on and took off like he'd been doing it for days. Days aren't bad for you first try.

He rode for about a mile and never had a bad crash. When he starts to fall he jumps and lets the bike fall. It's great fun to watch. This crash was posed for the camera!
My big boy riding into the sunset, all by himself.....

I'm a slacker....

It's been so long since I posted on here but I have good reason. I've been sick, sick, sick. Which is great! I am more than happy to be sick because I know that all is going right with the baby. At least it helps me think so. I went to the doctor today and all looks and sounds great. The heart beat was nice and strong and healthy. What a blessing. Sometimes I forget that I'm pregnant and then I remember and it's such a warm feeling that comes over me. What a miracle to be able to carry a baby, I love it. It truly is a BLESSING!

No more stinky pigs!

Here are the most recent pictures of our stinky, smelly gross pigs! Can't you just imagine the smell....

STINKY, SMELLY, GROSS PIGGIES!!!

They were much bigger than this by the time they 'left'. ABout 250 pounds. What a bunch of pigs!

The farm is dwindling down, thank goodness. The pigs will soon be ready for dinner. Max loved the pigs but he gets the whole picture. We raise the pigs for food. He asks us, when we have pork for dinner, which pig it is. He's a funny kid! I'm glad he understands how it all works.

I'M WHAT.....???

I'm having a baby!! I can't believe it. 11 weeks along now. After years of waiting, praying, hoping and trying, it just happened. Seriously, it just happened. We didn't even find out until I was about 6 weeks along. I finally went out and bought a test which I usually take right when I get home but I waited until the next day because I was sure that I knew the answer. The next morning I got up and did my thing and before I could even put the test down it was positive. I had to make Scott look because I was so surprised. I never get positive tests, that's just me. So, I called the doctor and they had me come right in and get a blood test done. Everything looked right. Then we had an ultra sound, which was SO scary. They started looking for the baby, no baby. She was telling us that sometimes there's no baby and it just happens... and then she said "Oh, oh, wait, there it is!!" The heartbeat is strong and healthy, it looks perfect. We've had two more ultra sounds since then, the baby is growing perfectly and looks very strong. In the last ultra sound you could see 'him' moving his little arm around like he was waving. Talk about bringing tears to your eyes, I sobbed. I've been sick, which is a good sign, and tired, also a good sign, so all is looking good. Just remember to pray for our little baby.

Max is so excited to have a brother, he won't hear of a sister. He prays every day that the baby will be strong and healthy like Mommy's little Max. It's so cute. He already picked out the name of his brother, Jake. As in the John Wayne movie 'Big Jake'. I don't so much agree but we'll see. It could still be a little sister, wouldn't that be shocker for him...

My Little Cowboy

A friend of ours had a party to celebrate the adoption of their little girl. There was all sorts of fun things. One of those huge blow up things that they can jump in, ping pong and a clown and with a clown you can of course expect face painting. At first Max wanted to be spider man but then he realized that there was a picture of a cowboy. So, here is the picture of our crazy little cowboy Max. I'm sure this will be the first of many cowboy faces.

That's supposed to be a black-eye. Isn't it hilarious!
And of course he has about 5 cowboy guns to complete any ensemble. What a kid!

First Day of Preschool

This is Max showing off for the camera before preschool. Isn't he the cutest little guy?!? Those are Scott's shades he's sporting.

Walking into school and I'm sure that he's thinking 'Enough Mom'!

The Three Muskateers after preschool, Jennie, Max and Mason. On the way home from school Aunt Sarah asked the kids who they played with and they said each other. She asked Max why he only played with Jennie and Mason and he said "Because we were born to play with each other". How cute is that!

Becki says that Max ate feces.......

She really is a very nice sister BUT she says the oddest things. She was just joking of course. Max most likely has Hand, Foot and Mouth. One of those most glorious and fun childhood diseases. We thought that it was Chicken Pox at first and we were fine with that. But it never progressed like it should have so we guess it's the other. One way to get it is from fecal matter, thank you Becki for that bit of info, but it also comes from mucous, those fabulous trips to the grocery store and preschool and other such fun things. Max is happy as can be and can't wait to get out of the house. I can't wait to get out either!!

We took him back to the doctor today and yep, we are brilliant! He has hand, foot and mouth. He should be better soon. YIPPEE!!
