**I had the privilege of giving the tribute talk at mom’s funeral. It was a neat experience compiling and sharing many of her stories. She was a wonderful mother and an amazing woman. I’ve decided to share some of her with you.***
Oftentimes after attending a funeral we may feel a renewed sense to make our own lives better. In memory of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, friend, and neighbor let us all resolve to live each day better than the day before.
Here are a few lessons that our mother taught us:
1. Listen to the spirit, that little voice inside that is telling you to do something, and listen to it the first time!
2. Always continue to date your spouse.
3. Treasure your family.
4. Mend relationships now.
5. Work hard.
6. Stay Positive.
7. Stay Strong.
8. Just let it go, let it go. (we can just here her saying that now!)
9. Don’t speak ill of others.
10. Everything has a place and everything in its place!
11. Pray knowing you will receive an answer.
12. Keep in touch with your siblings.
13. Keep your family close.
14. Keep a journal of some kind. Write down your testimony, your stories, your experiences and your history.
15. Because you have been blessed with so much, more is expected of you.
16. Love your children always. No matter where life takes them or what choices they make.
17. Forgive. And forgive now. Life is too short to spend it on hard feelings. Mom had a bookmark saved in one of her journals with a quote that read, “grudges grow like weeks galore, but forgiveness needs nurturing to flower” and “Forgiveness or Fury – you choose.”
