Jaxson had his 15 month check-up yesterday. He weighed 20 lbs. even , and was 30 1/4 inches. Still on the bottom of the charts, but he is chunky for him! He is having a difficult time with his shots (he always does), plus I think he is getting this cough/sore throat that is going around. We'll be staying home today to try to recooperate. He just wants to be held.
And today is my Grandpa's birthday! He is 89 today. We wish we could be there for the annual clean-up day. We love you Grandpa!

Albuquerque Zoo
I coached my first gymnastics meet in Albuquerque this weekend. Since the meet started at 8 am, we decided to drive over Friday night and make a little family trip out of it. The meet went super fast, and I was done by 9:45 am!
We decided to take the kids to the zoo. Hallie hasn't been to the zoo since she was 1, and Jaxson has never been. The day started off cloudy and a little cool, but the sun came out after awhile and it was a very nice day.
The kids LOVED the zoo. They were both so tired from getting no sleep the night before (staying in a hotel with Jaxson was an experience, to say the least), and I thought for sure Jaxson would fall asleep while we were walking around, but he was awake the whole time without one single fuss! They both crashed as soon as we got in the car to head home.
We got to see the zoo-worker-guy throw a box of hay to the rhino. Hallie thought that was cool, and the rhino came up really close to us.
They had an awesome jungle gym thing that Hallie loved.
Hallie's favorite exhibit was the seal/sea lion's. She loved watching them swim and make loud noises (she says Ar! Art!). I don't know why I didn't end up with any pictures of it. Jaxson loved the chimpanzees. They were right against the glass, literally a foot away from us. He would point and get all animated.
The polar bears were one of Hallie's favorites. We have a book with polar bears in it, so this is the exhibit she was most excited to see.

I had been told by lots of people that the Albuquerque zoo wasn't that great, but we were impressed. It was only $14.00 for our whole family, the exhibits weren't spread as far apart as the Phoenix Zoo, and the animals were a lot closer to you. We will definitely go there again!

A Little Catch-up
- Hallie had her first day in Primary. She was so excited about it! And she did good for the most part.
- Jaxson in his new church clothes. He likes to make this face every time I take his picture.
- See, I told you.
- The 3 wards here got combined into 2. They moved boundaries line, and we are in a different ward! Hallie is sad her friends didn't move with us.
- Hallie built this snowmen all by herself. It's pretty much the cutest thing I've ever seen.
- Jaxson is a walking fool and getting into more and more things everyday.
- We (Wes) got the trampoline moved from our garage to our backyard. At one point we had the trampoline, 2 vehicles, and our sandrail in the garage. Needless to say, it was a tight fit!

Thankful
Wes was in an accident a couple of days before Christmas. He was driving down the mountain from McGaffey, pulling a tractor behind him. He had gone up there to dig out one of our renters, who had called for help. By the time Wes got up there, the renter had gotten unstuck... but didn't call to let us know (grrr), so he pulled out a few other people and did some work on the road getting to the ranch house.
It was getting late so he and the employee he had with him loaded up and started off the mountain. They wanted to be off the mountain before the sun went down. It had started snowing pretty good so Wes had the truck geared as low as it would go creeping along around 5 miles per hour. Everything was good until the 2nd to last corner, where he hit a patch of snow-covered ice and the trailer started sliding.
Wes said he was going so slow that he had plenty of time to think and to react, even carrying on a conversation with the guy in the truck with him. He was pretty sure he could get the truck pulling the trailer again, instead of the trailer pushing the truck, if he was to speed up a bit, but he was nervous that if he got the momentum up he wouldn't be able to shut it down in time before the next corner, and the next corner was a drop off on both sides of the road. So Wes told Jason who was in the truck with him to hold on and he drove it into the side of a hill to keep the weight of the tractor and trailer from pushing them off of the cliff on the next corner.
Luckily, Wes steered as best he could into the mountain. The truck had a lot of damage, but the tractor was unharmed. They had to climb out of the back window slider to get out because the doors were pinned shut by the hill side and trailer. They got out and unhooked the tractor to help pull them out of the ditch the truck was in. While working on that icy road a big grader was going down the hill and lost control and hit the hillside right behind where they were. Wes said that another truck was going down that hill and missed hitting them by about a foot. Most of all, we're thankful Wes and the employee he had with him were both fine, with only minor scratches to show for it. We are just so glad that it wasn't worse. A different corner, and he would have been off a cliff!

Trip to Mesa
The kids and I went to Mesa a few days after Christmas to spend some time with my family. Wes met up with us after a few days, and then we all drove home together.
Meadow was still at my parents when we got there. We were glad to get to spend some time with her, even if it was only for a day.
Jaxson was being so funny the first night we were there. He would throw his body all over the bed and yell "I did it!" He did this over and over and over. I've never seen him so hyper; we were all laughing at him.
Shawnie and I took Hallie to the Temple Lights. She loved seeing the lights, and luckily, it wasn't very cold. (That's the manger scene behind her.)
Wes got to Mesa on New Years Eve, and we were happy to see him! The next morning we took Hallie to Bass Pro Shop. She really liked the fish and all of the animals, but we were both ready to go way before Wes and his dad!
My family has always taken a picture in front of the house, by the flag, on every New Years Day...right before the annual BBQ at Uncle Jack's. I took a picture of my mom, dad, and Ike, and then we had one taken of us. I enjoyed going to the annual gathering...it's been a long time! The weather was great-warm, actually!
