Mesa in June

I took the kids down to Mesa for a few days in June. Luke and Shawnie visited over the weekend and then I followed them back to Mesa (sadly I didn't get any pictures of when they were here...but we went to Don Diego's and the ranch for a day).

 A morning at the coolest park I've seen in a long time (Riverview park). It was too hot even at 9 am to do much besides play in the splash pad:

A visit to see Grandpa Tom. The kids loved playing with the toys and getting their tootsie roll from Grandpa

I tried so hard to get a good picture of Vera and Kimber together. They are exactly one week apart, but you wouldn't know it. Vera is practically running everywhere and saying things like"I love you"

• We also went to the local swimming pool for Family Home Evening with everybody. No pictures there because it was hard enough to keep an eye on my kids with my mom and dad helping me.
• Diana had her baby shower one of the nights I was there. I'm so glad I was able to there for it and so sad she had her baby a few days after we left.
• We played over at Janae's house one afternoon and the kids had a blast.
• I got to go to the temple one morning with Luke and Shawnie.
• Lots of errands and running around were thrown in there in the 3 days we were there. It's always pretty crazy and hectic because I try to fit in so much stuff!
• I drove home with all the kids by myself and got pulled over for the first time in my life! Luckily I only got a warning.

We were only there for about 3 days before we had to head back to work, but we sure enjoyed our time there. And were really happy to come home to slighter cooler weather!

Parker's Quilt

 I took the kids to Mesa in June and gifted this quilt to my sister-in-law, Diana, who was about to have her baby boy. We ended up missing his birth by only a few days, darn it!

 

I bought this whale fabric awhile ago and wanted to use it in a boy quilt somehow. Usually I don't buy "novelty" prints, because I focus on building up my stash with more basic prints, but I really liked the whales. It took me awhile to figure how to showcase them and in the end I chose to make economy blocks.

We've had some Birthdays-shout hurray!

Wes and Kamryn's birthdays are only two days apart, plus Father's Day is always near there too, so it makes for a crazy week.

I made a big huge ice cream cake to last us all week, (Happy 31st to Wes!)

Next was Kamryn's bday where she requested waffles with strawberries and whipped cream for dinner

(we got her these skates that she was dying to have. she has since worn them once.)

Colorado Camping

In the middle of June we went camping in southwest Colorado, close to Mancos. It was gorgeous there! So lush and green, with streams running everywhere. It was pretty windy while we were there, so we ate our meals inside. And the wind on the way home was super crazy and scary (40-50 mph).

Our friends that we camped with had their family up there too. The kids were in heaven to have some attention from a faux grandma that brought fun things to do like these balloons

The reason we were there was for a 3D bow shooting competition thing. The men all practiced one afternoon

And the kids got involved too. Hallie spent hours trying to hit the center target because she thought someone bet her $20 if she could hit it. She never did, but has since spent her money on a bow of her own

The kids all played really well together, and had fun helping make these bracelets

Jaxson and his friend spent hours and hours riding their bikes up a nature-made ramp and trying to get air

It was a beautiful spot to camp. The kids love it because they can roam around freely, and thats why I love it too!

Saying Goodbye is Hard to Do

At the beginning of June some good friends of ours moved away. One of their daughters happened to be Hallie's best friend. Hallie was heart broken over the fact that they were moving and wanted to get something special for her friend, so we found this bff mood necklace that they can each keep a part of. For a few years now we've had so many families move into Gallup. It stinks when they move away! Hallie has been writing letters back and forth and facetiming with her friend to keep in touch.
