My sweet Austin, this has been another fun month! You're becoming a little boy right before our very eyes, but you still are our sweet, snuggly little one too! As Daddy said a few weeks ago, suddenly, you have all the words! You are talking up a storm and it's so fun to hear all of your thoughts and words. We love you so much and cannot believe you are almost 2 1/2! I keep telling people that you just turned 2, but realized the other day that you're almost halfway through this year--crazy!!
Precious boy, at 29 months, you:
*are wearing size 24 month/2T clothes and wearing size 6/7 shoes. I think you're growing! You're hungry all the time and keep telling us your shoes are too tight. I had to pull out some of the size 7's this month for you.
*doing awesome sleeping in your big boy bed!! You love it--you're in the double bed at the bottom of the bunk beds and have so much room, ha. You're often sideways when we go in to check on you. :) Your first night in your big boy bed was our first night in the new house (a lot of change for my momma heart!), but you did so well. You sometimes wake up once a night because you can't find your paci, and will call us on the monitor. And every morning when you wake up, you call me and want me to lay in your bed and cuddle (or "tuddle", as you say). It's so, so sweet.
*usually sleep from around 830pm-730am, give or take about 30 minutes.
*are doing well with the potty. You still have accidents sometimes (especially poop, when you have underwear on), but are doing a lot better. You're also getting better at holding it and will usually pee on the potty when I take you, if we're out. It's just up to me to be disciplined enough to do it! It's not perfect yet, but definite progress! My goal is for you to be potty trained before little brother makes his appearance. ;)
*are our little defender--it's so cute. If someone takes something that's someone else's (take a drink from their cup, for instance), you'll say in a super indignant voice, "No, Daddy tup (cup)!". Or, you'll do the same if someone takes something of yours. :) But, the cutest thing too is that if we just as you, your whole demeanor and tone will change immediately and you'll shrug your shoulders and say, "ok, sure!". Love your sweet/fiesty spirit!
*learned how to give a thumbs up--so cute!
*got to wear underwear for the first time and were so excited! It was so cute--you knew what it was but kept putting it on your head and saying "hat!" and then laughing. You love to make people laugh. :)
*found some of Aedan's underwear and put them on one day as we were putting clothes away in your room. You loved it so much and were being so cute and silly in them, dancing all around and smiling. It was adorable!
*still love your night night and ask for it if you're tired or hurt. Usually you only get them when you're going to sleep though. I'm debating about whether or not to take it away before the baby comes or after. I'm leaning towards next month, just because I think it'll be easier to do before I have a newborn too, but the thought of taking it away just makes me sad because you love your night night so much! We'll see...
*love going to the pool and ask all the time still. You are so good at holding your breath and going under water and just play and play the whole time we're there. You love trying to get the diving sticks, holding onto your swimming stick and throwing a ball--along with just playing in the water. It's fun to watch you and Aedan at the pool--you're our two little (no fear!) fish!
*talk all the time and pretty much have words for everything you want to say. Every once in a while, you'll say something that we can't understand, but the times are pretty few and far between at this point. Some things that you say a lot are...
--hold you me? (LOVE.)
--too sunny! too dark! (though you usually mix these two up, which is cute.)
--tuddle (cuddle) me?
--Aedan no share me! (this is new, ha!)
--wanna pay (play) me?
--me hot! me told! (cold) (you often mix these two up too. :))
--I hauauangy! (I'm hungry!)
--Bot... (But, as in you're arguing with what we're saying, or saying you don't want to do that--you learned this one early, thanks to Aedan!)
--cheat! (treat!, for going on the potty)
--Mama, watch!
--Watch me!
--Me do it!
--Show you (usually accompanied by grabbing our hand and pulling us over or motioning for us to come with your little hand:))
--I dot (got) it.
--My 'puter (asking for your computer in the car)

--Hi yah! (accompanied by a kick, ha!)
--Doddy (sorry!) I've been working on your saying sorry when you hurt someone and now you sometimes say it umprompted when you accidentally hurt someone (so sweet) and sometimes say it even when something wasn't even your fault (which makes me feel kinda bad!)

--tittle me more! (tickle me more!)
--booty booty (this started off as cutie patootie, which I said to you once. Then, you picked up on the word booty from Aedan, said it and got a few laughs and never looked back, ha. We're trying (unsuccessfully) to get you to stop saying it!)
--one sesond (one second, usually accompanied with one finger being held up)
--Why?
--ooh! (as in, ooh, now I understand--one of my favorite things you say!)
--no, 'ready! (usually as in, no, I already went potty and don't need to go again)

--Uh huh (you recently learned that this kinda means the same as yes, and think it's fun to say!)
--Makmin!! (need a napkin!)
*call some animals by their sounds. My favorites are moo tows (cows), baby baa baa (sheep, from a book we read) and pack packs (ducks, as in quack quack).
*when we ask you what a frog says, you say, "hop, hop!"
*love seeing big diggers and tractors out your window
*always say "ooh, big truck!" when a big truck goes by us on the road
*like counting! When your counting for hide and seek, it usually goes something like "four, eight, ten, eight, ten, eight...) We do a lot of counting in the car and you can often count to four, sometimes five, and then we count together to 10. So fun! You also like singing your ABC's, but don't do it on your own yet really.
*have picked up on potty humor--I don't know why it's funny inherently, but it is!
*are very persistent--if you ask for something and we say no, you keep asking and asking. If we don't understand a word, you keep saying it and saying it until we understand. It's a little hard sometimes, but I think a triat with will serve you well in the long run!
*sign hurt whenever you say hurt, or we say something will hurt. You just recently started signing it again and it so cute. :)
*don't like anything dirty/sticky on your hands
*love to play outside--I can't wait for it to be a little cooler!
*love one on one time (all the attention!), but still get sad when we take you somewhere alone. You always ask for the people not there, which is so cute. You don't know life without your brother--it's the sweetest thing.
*books
*give the sweetest hugs and kisses, when you're in the mood to! The best is when they're unprompted!
*love sitting in the back of the shopping cart with Aedan, especially when we lets you sit on his lap. You two still fight some, but really are in a sweet stage. You get a long for the most part and it's so, so fun to watch you play together!
*have started to have some opinions on shows to watch--you like Hewoes (Rescue Heroes), Ooh-Aah (Curious Geoge), Tiger (Daniel Tiger) and Choo-Choos (Thomas the Train). They still don't hold your attention very long unless you're tired and we're sitting with you, but you definitely have an opnion if I'm turning on a show for y'all!
*still love playing with balls and would toss a ball back and forth for hours, I'm sure! Sometimes, if we're playing catch while you're on the potty, you don't want to get off because you don't want to stop playing. ;)
*did awesome with the move and all of the changes we've had in the last month or so. You're such a little trooper! When we first moved, you wouldn't be able to find us and we'd always hear, in your sweet little voice, "Mommy/Daddy, where you?". It was so cute!
*still are not a fan of having your teeth brushed! Some nights it's awful still and I have to hold you down to brush them (you're usually a lot better with Daddy!), but some nights you just let me brush, which is such a gift, ha. Daddy bought you and Aean sonic care tooth brushes which, now that you've gotten used to it, I think you actually like better!
*sometimes get in a little shy/grumpy mood, where you won't talk to anyone or really look at them and just make this grunting sound when they try to talk to you. It's kinda funny. :)
*are super friendly too though, and are always waving at people and saying hi. If they don't wave or say hi back, you say in this sad little voice, "No hi me!" So sad/cute.
*always want to wear goggle when you swim, just like Aedan, but always just wear them on your hear, not on your eyes. It makes me laugh!
*Love making people laugh! You'll do something funny and then say "me funny/dat funny!". It cracks me up!
*We're working on obeying--sometimes you're great, sometimes it takes a little convincing and sometimes you just flat out say no, I'm working on being consistent with you and hopefully it'll get better. I'm trying to help you say, "Yes, Mommy" instead of no or "bot...". :)
*Love matching Aedan! it's so cute--sometimes you request matching clothes, when you know you have the same shirt, and you always point out when you see that you match him. I love it!
*Are a little climber of everything, especially the pantry, when you want something (usually gummies!). We just got a pantry lock and it's been awesome, ha!
*are full fledged into pretend play right now and it's my favorite. You're always pulling out your tools and working like Daddy, and you and Aedan love dressing up in things from your dress up bin (usually Wild Kratts;))
*love Aedan and akways want to be around him and play with him. You're going to miss him when he's in school--thank goodness we still have another year!
*We don't have a garden yet in our new hourse, but at our old house, whenever you'd go outside to play, you'd pick veggies (usually cherry tomatoes) for me from our garden. It was so cute--you'd call me from the door and then hand them to me. Sweet boy.
*LOVE baths--especially bubble baths! You and Aedan would just play and play in the bathtub as long as we'd let you. :)
*get a sweet little smile on your face when you get to feel the baby kick--and always smile and say yes when people ask if you're going to be a big brother! I can't wait to see you with the baby, since you love babies so much! You're already a proud big brother. :)
*Are my little helper, no matter what I'm doing. It's so cute--I love this stage. You want to help me with the laundry, help me cook, help me make the bed. So sweet. You say, "help you ___" and I try to always say yes!
My sweet son, you are such a good gift from God to our family! You are sweet, smart and full of spunk, and I wouldn't have it any other way! I know God have a plan and a purpose for your life and I can't wait to see what it is. Our prayer is that you seek Him and follow His voice all of your life. We love you so much and pray for you every day, knowing that our great God loves you more than we can even imagine. Sweet boy, I'm so grateful to be able to spend my days with you and Aedan and treasure all the fun we have and all that I learn from being your Mommy! I love you more than you'll ever know!
