Waiting :)

Wednesday, October 19th, was Adam's due date, so we're in full on waiting for baby to come mode around our house. :)  It's such a weird feeling to not know when he's coming!  Since about a week ago, I've had a few random contractions every day, but yesterday and today they've been happening pretty much all day.  Still no pattern to them though, and often there's as much as 30 minutes or more between them.  So, things are happening, but he's probably not coming today!  So far, we're thinking it's pretty similar to Austin's labor, so if that holds true, little Adam will come tomorrow night.  Who knows though!  I'm really a huge believer that he will come when he's reading, in God's timing, so we're trying to just trust that and enjoy life with our two little boys until that day comes.  Some days, I'm just ready to get labor over with and meet him, because I can't wait to hold him and see his sweet little face.  I've been watching lots of birth videos, water births in particular, and it gets me every time when that baby falls out--it's all worth it and such a miracle.  Sometimes, this time around, I've felt some anxiety about the actual labor and delivery, partly because I remember how much it hurt and partly because it's all new this time at a birthing center (which I'm super excited about, just not exactly sure what to expect), and feel kinda panicky when I think about it actually being time.  Isaiah 26:3 has been my verse for the past few weeks and I've found myself praying so much for Adam's delivery and our boy's hearts/transitions, and Landon and I's hearts and transition as well.  I don't know how people do life without God and His promises and peace.

When we woke up on Adam's due date, it was pretty obvious that he probably wasn't going to come that day, so we went about business as usual.  I took the boys to MOPS that morning.  I really didn't think I'd be there at this meeting when I left our meeting 2 weeks ago, but it was such a blessing to be with the ladies in my group and a fun morning!

elephants, fish, reading, writing, ninjas and the rainforest :)

We've been having lots of fun with Mommy School over the last few weeks!  We've been learning all about elephants and fish (and the letters E and F:)), and reading the MTH books about ninjas and the rainforest.  We usually do Mommy School in the mornings when we're home, and then read the MTH books before naptime and bedtime.  And, we're doing Aedan's reading and writing work everyday during Austin's naptime--it's been work, and a struggle at times, but he's doing so well!  We're on lesson 77 of the 100 lesson book we've been working through and it's paying off!  I love hearing his little voice read and seeing his confidence grow!  I just love these days at home with my boys and love watching them learn!  It's a whole different dynamic with trying to do things with both of them, but we're working on it and slowly finding our groove--just in time for Adam to come join the family and mix things up!:)

32 months!

My sweet Austin, I can't believe you're about to be a big brother!  I know you're becoming a little boy before my eyes, and you definitely like being a big boy, but sometimes when I look at you or carry you, I'm stuck again by just how little you really still are.  Just 2 1/2 little years. I've been praying for your (and Aedan's) hearts a lot this month, as your little worlds get rocked by your baby brother joining our family in just a few days (hopefully!).  We also took your beloved night night away this month, but after almost 3 weeks of you having a really hard time falling asleep, you might just be getting it back, just to fall asleep.  You're wearing us down, little man!  But, other tantrums about life have slowed way down this month, and you've been much more of your pleasant little self, so that's been nice. :)  We love you so much, sweet boy, and look forward to all of the adventures that the next month will hold for you and us!

40 weeks!

Well, little one--we made it to 40 weeks!  October 19th has been circled on our calendar for months and months and now we're here!  I woke up to a calendar reminder on my phone that said, 'ADAM'S DUE DATE!!".  You seem content to stay put for a bit longer though. :)

Brother Love!

I've been having to wake Austin up recently so that he'll actually take a nap and go to bed at night, and he's so pitiful in the mornings--not ready to wake up at all!  But, he's super snuggly and cuddly--and when Aedan asks if he wants to cuddle or hold hands, he almost always say yes.  So sweet--I love these two so much and can't wait to see our third little boy in there with them too!

Family Fun (long) Weekend

Before Austin was born, Landon, Aedan and I had a family fun weekend, where we just blocked off some time to spend as a family before life changed with a new little one.  A few months ago, I started looking at weekends and this past weekend was the only one that was totally free.  So, I designated it our family fun weekend before Adam joined our family.  This was the weekend that Landon has been saying he thought Adam would come though, so I think we both had it in our heads that our sweet babe would already be here--or would be on his way.  It's Monday night though, and he's still nice and snug where he is. :)  So, we had our full family fun weekend.  It was good for us to just relax some and enjoy spending time together and with our boys.  And mentally, I feel so much more ready for little Adam to come--just more relaxed and feeling ready.  I've been praying for God's timing with this little one's arrival and now we're just waiting. :)

Friday was the first day that we literally had nothing on our agenda, because it could be baby day, and all of my major to do's were finally done!  We started the morning with the baby is on the way episode of Daniel Tiger, which I love!

life in pictures

Last week, Brooklyn turned 6!  Six!  What in the world?  I still remember this sweet baby's first birthday like it was yesterday.  I'm thankful that our kids have grown into such sweet BFFs though!

our new house

So it's been around 3 months since we moved and I would say we're settled in and enjoying it!  We had fun decorating and making things for our new spaces.  We're not quite done with everything, but we called it done for now on Labor Day weekend and moved on to baby preparation mode. :)

39 weeks!!

39 weeks!  So crazy!  With Austin, this was the day that I woke up having contractions and we thought he was making his grand entrance.  It turned out to be 4 days later though. :)  With Aedan, we still had 2 full weeks to go!  I can't tell with you, sweet one.  I'm still feeling great and haven't had any contractions yet, so we'll see. :)  You're still moving around a lot, which is fun.  I feel lots of little hands/feet/elbows/knees throughout the day.

baby Adam's nursery!

The Sunday of Labor Day, Landon's mom was sweet to watch the boys for us after church and Landon and I made the best use of that free afternoon as we could.  He built out table and banquette for the kitchen and I got to work painting the nursery.  I know a lot of people just use the same room/decor etc, which is totally awesome, but I just love the act of creating a space for our new baby that is all his own.  It's probably silly, but I really do love it!  So, with this sweet babe, we decided to try something new and do stripes.  It was WAY more work than I anticipated, but I love how it came out!

It's baby month!!!

I can't believe that it's already October--baby month!  For a long time, October seemed so far away (and we've been counting down because Aedan's always asking when the baby's coming!), but now, it's here!  Our due date is officially 9 days from today, which is crazy.  I'm trying to finish up all of the last baby things today, so that we can, hopefully, have a few days of calm before we become a family of 5.  I think I'm in full nesting mode, because I've been working like crazy for the last few weeks.  I'm trying to find a balance now though, because I don't want to be exhausted and running on empty with little Adam decided it's time.  I want to be rested both for labor and to begin life as a momma of three.

There's a lot that I've been working on that doesn't need to be done before he comes, but that I just want done so that it's off my list and out of my mental space.  One of those was finishing my Simple Health, Happy Families blog, and I finally finished it last weekend.  It has been such a load off because it was a TON of work, and I was constantly having to figure out how to do things I didn't know how to do.  Building a website is not my forte, ha.  But, I'm excited about it!  And I'm excited that I don't have to work on it anymore, for now at least. ;)

bye bye night night...

For a while now, our dentist has been telling us that we might want to consider taking away your night night, because your teeth weren't fully touching in the front anymore, but I just couldn't!  You love it so much and you go to sleep SO easily with it.  But, I wanted to do it before baby brother comes, so that we could help you through the transition, so we finally decided it was time.  Otherwise, I think it would be a LONG time down the road before we got up the courage to do it with a newborn, ha!

2 weeks ago, I was planning to, but I just wasn't ready, mentally, and you woke up not feeling great.  So, I backed out.  And, can I just be honest--this sweet snuggly, paci face is about the cutest thing ever to me.  I'm going to miss it--and miss the instant sleep and snuggles!!

dinosaur week!

This was D week--and we had fun with dinosaurs!  On Monday, we talked about the letter D and painted our dinosaur pictures--it's been  while since we've painted!!

38 weeks!

Sweet baby--it's crazy to think how soon you'll be here--in just a matter of weeks!  We went to our appointment at the midwives today and you are still doing well!  Your heartbeat was loud and strong, and your head is still down, but you've flipped back over to anterior position.  I think you flip back and forth a lot, because sometimes I can feel your little bottom on the right side of my stomach, and sometimes I feel your little feet!  I'm trying really hard to sit up straight and not slouch, and to spend time on my hands and knees, to get you to stay posterior.  Hopefully it works, so that you come out nice and easily, little Adam. :)

Apparently you're about the size of a leek now, and really plumping up some--you weigh somewhere around 7 pounds, or a little under.  I'm getting so anxious to meet you, little man, and see who you are and what you look like.  I'm really curious if you'll look like either of your brothers, or if you'll have a look all your own, and to see what color your hair and eyes are!  Keep growing healthy and strong, little man, and we'll see you soon!  We love you so much already!!

brothers and their daddy

I was laughing as I went through some pictures today, because all of the pictures of Aedan and Austin with Landon are just SO BOY.  And I love it.  I'm so thankful that they have such a great daddy and so thankful for the little moments throughout the day that they get to see each other and spend a few minutes doing boy things!  Their smiles and giggles say it all!
