Worst Halloween EVER!!

This was one of the worst Halloween EVER! I was so excited for this Halloween. I had high expectations since it was going to be a whole weekend of fun with Halloween on Sunday. We had the school Halloween Parade on Friday, Saturday the neighborhood Soup Party followed by trick or treating, Sunday being Halloween and my Dad's birthday we had family dinner/party with both families and all the cousins. And I personally was excited to have a Halloween to enjoy the candy and fun since I have spent four of the last 7 halloween's in the early stages of pregnancy which means, I am home throwing up while Kevin is out trick or treating. Well besides all the activities leading up to Halloween which were wonderful and fun. This is how our horrible Halloween went. Saturday was a nice day until we called the kids in from playing to put their Halloween costumes on to go to the neighborhood soup dinner. Kale started complaining that his stomach hurt. We told him he was probably just hungry and to get dressed for pictures and see how he feels. As they got dressed it starts raining and Kale is feeling worse and worse. We got a few pictures drive over for the party, which is now moved into someone's garage because of the rain. Kale decides he would rather stay in the car. So we hurry into the super crowded garage to try and eat dinner quick while Kale is in the car. We get home, I am trying to hurry and get Weston and Quin ready to go trick or treating when we hear Kale come in from the garage and throw up all over the mud room. SO GROSS!. Kevin being a dear cleans up while I take the others to a few houses. And I mean a few I think we made it to maybe ten houses. They had the smallest bags of Halloween?candy I have ever seen. It was very cold and dark. So I get home and put all the kids to bed and come down to turn off the porch light and Kevin asks what I am doing. I said it late we are done handing out candy. He informed me which I had no idea, that if wasn't even 8:00. I said really it seems late. So he continued handing out candy. The next morning Kevin went up to check on Kale and there was throw up all over the carpet all the way from the boys room to the bathroom. Kevin asked Kale, "so you didn't make it to the bathroom?" He said, "No that was Quin." He looks over to find Quin in bed with no longer any PJ on just sleeping away. I have never heard of a kid just throwing up in the middle of the night, just taking off his PJ and going back to bed. Quin is a no drama kid that just takes care of himself. So Kevin goes to church and I stay home and clean most of the carpets upstairs and disinfect anything I can thing I can get my hands on. Both boys were feeling better by now and were completely crushed to find out that just because they felt better that we still couldn't go to the family parties. I can't even tell you how long they cried about that. I felt so bad for them. It was not a fun weekend.

RUN KEVIN RUN!!

Can I just tell you Kevin is FAST!! I don't really know when it happened. But he worked really hard and trained a lot this summer and got really fast. He placed in almost every race he did this summer. We ran a couples relay in September and he ran one of his legs that was seven miles at under 6:15 min/miles. He is an amazing ATHLETE!!

He trained really hard and did awesome in the St. George Marathon. He was averaging around 7 min miles for 18 miles when the record breaking heat got to him. He still did incredible with around a 3:45 finish.

We once again had a SUPER FUN time at the LaPray family reunion. Grandma and Grandpa rented some four wheelers and we spent a night at the Moon Cabin.

This is all the kids on the ATVs. Jackson brought up his little motorbike. The younger kids loved it. Quin would ride the bike in circles around the yard all day.


This is Alyssa being safe by the fire. I think she was really wanting for a ride. The kids wouldn't take their helmets off in between rides just to make sure they were ready at a second notice to go again.

Weston LOVED LOVED being taken for rides. He wanted to go with anyone that was leaving. It didn't matter how many people were already on a ATV he wanted to go too. In fact I think he is still wiping his tears in this picture from being told he couldn't go it was Coles turn. We had to distract him inside if anyone was going for a ride without him.

Haircut!

This is Lincoln's first haircut. Well actually it is his second. I tried cutting a little bit on the back and then realized with in a few days that it just needed to go. A lot of people have a problem with the fact that I shave my babies heads. I don't! I overheard a mom the other day talking about how her two year old needed a haircut but she didn't want to use clippers on him. I thought heck I do that when they are just a few weeks old. Kale and Lincoln have had the same hair problem. They are born with dark hair, but then it falls out only on the top. It leaves them looking like a little old man. Lincoln was a lot more bald then he looks in that picture. So I have no problem just shaving it off and having it all grow in even. And as you can see from the pictures babies don't mind it at all, they even kinda like the humming clippers on their heads. Kale also fell right asleep when I did his.

Lincoln's Baby Blessing

On July 25th we had Lincoln's baby blessing. It was a really fun day. We had all the family up to our house for lunch. It was of course great food, with great family and friends. Can I just say I love my family. We are so blessed to have two of the best families in the whole world. They are so helpful and supportive. My kids are so lucky to have the four best grandparents that love them so much. I am so grateful we are close to have their help raising my boys. I know they will be better man because of their examples. The second picture is four generations of Abbott boys.

Spanish Fork Rodeo

All the Abbotts went to the Spanish Fork Rodeo. It was so much fun. I bought new cowboy boots to wear to the rodeo, but for some reason we only have pictures of Weston with his cowboy boots and shorts. Maybe Kevin thinks Weston is cuter in BOOTS!

Tub Pictures

I just thought this picture was funny and cute. When Weston and Lincoln were in the tub and Kevin was taking a picture he told Weston to cover himself with the cup. The way Lincoln was just staring at Weston made us laugh. It is also a good picture of Lincoln's rolls. He is getting chunky so fast!

LAZY SUMMER DAYS

This has been a lazy summer. We haven't done much. With a new baby and a two year old, it is just easier to stay home and let the kids run around the neighborhood then try and go anywhere. So, we have had fun just hangin' around and spend a lot of time holding Lincoln. I few days Renee has been the "fun" aunt and invited us to get out of the house. One day we went to the Hoogle Zoo. Where the kids had a blast. We got to see the new baby elephant. Another day we went to Trafalga mini golfing. Both were so much fun. Thanks Renee and Bethany for making sure my kids have some fun this summer!!

Fourth of July

We had a fun Fourth of July this year. It seems like since the fourth was on Sunday that we got to celebrate the whole weekend. Saturday we had a BBQ at the LaPrays. After which we all went over to the Temple lawn to watch the "Stadium of Fire" fireworks. Sunday night we had a sleepover at the Abbotts. All the boys sleep out side in the backyard except Lincoln. It was unusually cold and windy but they all slept well. The next day we all just hung out in the backyard and watched the kids play in the water and ate and ate. Weston had the cutest little sun baby bum crack the whole time.

Life can change in an instant!

On June 16, 2010, my mom had a seizure and was rushed to the hospital. After several tests they discovered that she had a brain tumor that needed to be removed. On Friday June 18th she had the surgery. My brother Tate flew in from AZ and we were all there as she went into surgery. The surgery went well and they were able to completely remove it and it was benign like the doctors thought. When she woke up from surgery she was unable to move her left hand. Over the last month with therapy and lots of exercises she has gotten back some movement. It has been a difficult month. It has been really hard to watch my mom struggle with pain and disappointment. My mom is the strongest person I know. She is truly amazing. I think she is so beautiful with her new liberal haircut or styling wig, whichever way she is feeling that day.

Happy Birthday Kevin and Kale!!

This year we had the Abbotts all over for pie on Kevin's Birthday. Since Kevin's Birthday is also on flag day he got a flag in his pie instead of 32 candles. And since Kale's birthday is the next day he also helped blow out the candles. I am glad that Kevin is such an awesome guy to share his birthday with Kale and Flag day every year. BUT really we love you so much Happy Birthday Kevin!!!


For Kale's birthday this year we went to dinner at Tepanyaki with Grandma and his cousin Jaxon. Then Grandma watched Weston while we took the boys to Karate Kid. We really liked it. Kale wanted to have a birthday party,I didn't. So I told him when a bunch of the neighborhood boys were all over playing soccer, like they do almost everyday, I would make cupcakes and we could sing to him. Well as luck would have it, no one, I mean no one, could play on his birthday. But luckily the next day while Jaxon was still here from the sleepover all the boys came over to play "World Cup" soccer. I hurried as quick as possible to whip up some cupcakes. I was racing against a rain storm I could see coming and a crying baby. But I got them done,just as the wind picked up. So I set up a table in the garage with cupcakes, chips and water. They all sang Happy Birthday. So of all the fun places to have birthday parties Kale had his in the garage. But I think he had fun!! Hope you had a Happy Birthday Kale! WE LOVE YOU!

Ode to Sarah

I'm not sure who reads this, but if you do, you already know how awesome Sarah is. I only write on this blog once every couple of years, usually after we have a baby. Paraphrasing Elder Bednar, a public forum should not be the only place that our wife hears an expression of love from her husband. While I don't think this is the only time or place I express that appreciation, I can certainly do better. Having said that, I'm going to do it anyway. Sarah really is incredible. I do tell her that a lot, and I'm not sure she understands that I really mean it. I'm almost constantly in awe at what she gets done. When she puts her mind to something she just does it, and she never ever complains. I think I complain enough for the both of us, so it all works out. I guess it manifests itself to me especially when she goes through the labor and delivery process. It's not easy on her for sure, but she never complains about it, never whines about how hard it is, she just goes about it with a "git er' done" attitude. I feel bad that she has to go through the rest of her life as the only girl, stuck with 5 other boys. I guess that's my fault to some degree. I guess this is the end of the Ode, just wanted to say that Sarah is awesome, and I'm a lucky guy.

Lincoln's Newborn Pictures!!

It's a boy!

Here are a few pictures from the first two weeks of LINCOLN LAPRAY ABBOTT'S life. He was born on May 18, 2010. I was induced because I started getting the signs of toxemia. It wasn't nearly as bad a it was with Kale or Weston, but I was ready to be done so I didn't fight them when they suggested induction. Long story short I had to wait all day in the hospital on a small dose of pitocin with a few contractions till the midwive could induce me that night. At about 9:30 she broke my water. After a few hard contractions and then a few pushes, Kevin got to deliver our fourth little boy at 10:44. It was really fun to have Kevin turn him over to show me it was a boy. I think the first words out of my mouth were "you have got to be kidding me." I am excited to have all boys, but really thought the odds were I would get one girl. People keep saying we almost have a basketball team, Kevin keeps saying he does have a basketball team. He is the best baby and the boys are so excited to have him here, even Weston is really good with him. Everything is going great and are so glad to have him here save and healthy.

Christmas Morning Presents!!

The boys did get some surprises Christmas morning. Quin made a stocking at preschool with cut out pictures on it showing what he wanted for Christmas, and every single picture was of a Bakugan. So needless to say he was excited to get some Bakugans on Christmas morning.

Kale was surprised and excited over his new BYU bike. Man has he ever become a BYU fan. He even got to go to the bowl game with Kevin in Vegas. They had a great time, especially getting autographs on the field after the game.


Weston was just excited and surprised by every present. OH the joy of having a little one that get excited over everything.

After all the Christmas Eve family parties we went home to our house and got ready for Santa and bed. We made some cookies and spread magic reindeer dust in the yard. At school Kale had written a letter to Santa and he wrote back. He said that the elves like cookies or anything sweet and that all the reindeer like carrots except Dasher likes celery, and that he like hot chocolate. So that is what we left by the fireplace. As you can see Kale labeled all the treats. They were very excited!!

Abbott Family Christmas Eve Party

Weston was a shepard for the Nativity. He LOVES LOVES his blankie. And one thing he loves is to either have it wrapped around his neck like a scarf or sticking it in his ear. So for his shepard costume we tied it around his head. Isn't that what Linus does in the Charlie Brown Christmas? Hadn't remembered that till just now. He looked really cute but it kept slipping off cause his blankie is so silky.

These are all from the traditional Abbott Family Christmas Eve Dinner. We had a great dinner played games and preformed the nativity. The cousins all got to open one present which was PJ's. Kevin thought it would be fun to get Quin some footed PJs, I just wasn't sure if he would like them, it's a struggle just to get him to wear socks. Well needless to say he was not excited about them when he opened them. But I think that had more to do with the fact that Kale said, "no Quin those are Westons." I guess he didn't know either that they made footed PJs in 5T. But after a little pouting we convinced him he just had to put them on for the picture. But once he got them on and everyone praised him, he loved them and still does. In fact he wore them all that night and all Christmas day. And just the other night he was so happy when he got Weston dressed in his footed PJs all by himself so they could match.
