I was so sad when Brenna's two front teeth started to get loose. I crossed my fingers that they'd stay put as long as possible. Well, click on the picture to enlarge it and get a load of these!
Her adult teeth aren't visible yet, but they are pushing her front baby teeth out so far that she has little buck teeth now and speaks with a lisp! I can't wait for these things to fall out....
Friday night: we hit the pumpkin patch. There's a cute little family-run pumpkin patch just a few miles from our house that has a number of fun things for the kids to see and do. I particularly like this shot of the kids picking their pumpkins in t-shirts and shorts, sitting underneath an orange tree (unripe orange modeling courtesy of Brenna). Very California, baby.

Saturday morning: the season's final soccer games and end of season pizza parties, including trophies. Sure, you can argue against participation trophies, but these little ones sure like having bling to display in their bedrooms.
I've been tagged by my bff Jenn to share 6 random things about myself, so here goes nothing!
1. My favorite time of day is the morning when the kids climb into bed and snuggle before the day starts. I've been known to be late for things b/c I haven't wanted to end snuggle time.
2. Pie is highly overrated. I think Thanksgiving will never reach its full potential until we kick the pie tradition to the curb and delve into some real desserts, specifically those involving cream cheese or chocolate. The exception to my pie issue: key lime pie. Aw, baby. A good slice of key lime pie on a sugary graham cracker crust is fan-freaking-tastic.
3. I am anxiously awaiting the day when perms are really and truly back in style. I think I looked awesome in junior high with a perm. I'll just skip the big bangs this time.
4. I HATE car travel. There are many places I think about going, but the thought of a long car trip makes me want to gnaw my wrists open. Maybe it's all those family trips from Tennesee/Iowa/Texas to Utah, crammed with 4 other kids in the back seat of a car with no A/C either wanting to puke or so drugged up on Dramamine I couldn't maintain consciousness. Good times.
5. Someday I want to take a girls' trip to Europe with my best girlfriends (including my sisters and stepmom) and eat, shop, sightsee, burst into song in a public square in Austria, and do chick stuff for days and days on end.
6. I think there's a Seinfeld episode that addresses almost every life situation. I'm constantly biting my tongue to hold back a Seinfeld quote, mostly b/c people would eventually have to kill me if I quoted that show as often as I want to.
Okay, then....I tag Jules and Jessica. Now you get to spend way too much time thinking of 6 random things to blog about!
Scott took Nate with him on a business trip to Lubbock and I am without my baby boy for the first time (can this be right?) since he was born. They're experiencing some male bonding and partying out with Grandma and Grandpa. Meanwhile, the girls and I are doing our own bonding back here. Tonight we saw Beverly Hills Chihuahua, got dinner, strolled a local art fair, visited the book store and hit Cold Stone Creamery. So we're not exactly sitting home moping. I'll confess that it's easier to get out and about without a 2 year old in tow, but who needs easy? Who needs quiet? I need my Nate! I always miss Scott when he's gone too....less than 48 hours and they're home again.
We are 3 weeks into the soccer season and thanks to my friend Carianne (who in spite of having 5 children of her own ages 7 and under and her own little players to photograph, manages to take copious, quality photos of my kids too) I have some pictures of the action!

Brenna saved the game tying goal at the very end of the 4th quarter today, enabling her team to hang on to their 3-2 win! She was a monster, chasing down the opposing player who was driving to the goal, muscling him out of the action, then kicking the ball out of play just a foot or two before it went in the goal.
So, how did the purple Dinosaurs fare (and yes, we know they're not purple, they're maroon, but try telling that to a bunch of 4 year olds). Well, they won too, not that we're keeping score. You've gotta love youth sports, you don't keep score and everyone gets a trophy at the end of the season. Ava is already talking about the trophy she'll be getting. It IS pretty exciting, come to think of it.
