Hand, Foot, and Mouth

Friday morning we noticed that Landon had some sores to the top of his lip, and his chin. I didn't look that close at them,  but thought it was just his eczema flaring up again. As we were putting his shoes on before leaving for church Steven asked if I thought it was hand, foot and mouth and I kind of brushed it off. However, then as we were sitting in Sacrament and I was playing with him I noticed a few red spots on his fingers. I took a closer look and sure enough he had multiple blisters on his fingers. Right then I told Steven he was right and was going to have to take him home.

This morning I tried to take a few pictures of some of his blisters. 

If you look at his pinky finger below his nail he has a rather large blister. 

Despite his sad blisters this guy has still been pretty happy!

Another Fridge Sitter

When Mason was little he used to love to sit in the fridge anytime we opened it up and now Landon is following in his foot steps.

Anytime we open the fridge he races over to it and climbs inside so he can sit in there and then starts pulling stuff out.

I just find it funny that both our boys have done this. I don't ever remember Emma doing it though. 

My Little Fireman

Landon was having a hay day with the fireman hat that Emma got from the fire station today. 

 One thing is for sure, he makes one cute fireman. 

 Oh I just love this sweet little boy!

Landon's Walking!

On Saturday Steven and I were trying to get Landon to walk, but he refused to and instead just bounced up and down or sat down and crawled. I got a pretty funny video of him doing his little dance and growl. Then yesterday we noticed that he was starting to take a couple of steps in a row here and there, but never when we tried to get him to. Then today while Steven was home with the kids he said he saw him take 9 steps all by himself, but didn't have time to get a camera. So tonight after the other kids were in bed I put him down in the kitchen to see if I could get a video of him walking and he did it without a problem! I did have to bribe him the first time with part of a chocolate twizzler, but then he did it over and over again without any bribery. He looks so little walking, but so cute! It's hard to believe that our other kids had already been walking for at least 2-3 months by this age. I actually haven't minded though, because it feels like he has stayed a baby longer for me. I love that he has just waited till he was ready and I'm sure now he'll be running in no time at all.

12 Month Shots for Landon

After I got home from Mason's assessment, I had just enough time to drop him off and get Landon so I could take him in for his 12 month old shots. He was sick and running a fever when he had his well check so he couldn't get them then. It was nice to just have him with me while the other two were home with Steven. We did have to wait for a little bit in the lobby, but once they got us back to a room they had his shots ready for him. He got 4 all together, 2 in each thigh. He obviously was not happy about it, but really only cried until I picked him up then he was fine. After we left the pediatrician's office I took him over to the PACU to see my co-workers. He was pretty melancholy with them, but they were happy to see him. I got a cup of ice for me, but then Landon quickly stole it and was loving the tiny ice cubes. I'm guess the coldness felt good on his gum where he is still cutting more teeth. He wouldn't let me have the cup back and would growl at me if I tried to take it, so I just let him have it and he ate ice the entire way home until it was all gone.

When we got home he wasn't to thrilled about the bandaids on his legs and pulled them both off.

Magnets & Oreos

With Emma still not feeling well and Landon still running fevers I stayed home from church with them while Mason went with Steven. While they were away I took just a few pictures of Landon with the magnets which he loves so much. It's impossible for anyone to build anything with them without having him come knock it down! He's our little wreck it Lando! 

He also had his first store-bought Oreo today and I think from his chocolate covered face it's okay to say he liked it. Motrin to take the fever away and chocolate makes everything better, right?

Landon's First Birthday Party

Today we celebrated our little Landon's first birthday with a baby elephant/red balloon themed birthday party! I've spent the last month making decorations and planning his birthday party and it was fun today to see all my planning and work pay off. 

After I got the kids to bed last night I was up till about 10:30 putting up decor and decorating the big cake for his party. 

This morning it was an early morning so that I could finish the prep work before the party. My mom and dad arrived about 10:30 and were helpful to entertain the kids while I finished up a few last minute things.

 

 

Around 11:30 Steven's parents, his grandma Trudy and Brayden arrived and we got the party started about 11:45 with lunch for everyone. My good friend and neighbor Anne also came with her kids for awhile. We were doing his party in between his morning and afternoon nap so we kind of had to keep things moving along. 

So once everyone had a chance to eat we moved onto opening presents and boy did he get spoiled! He received 4 pairs of pj's from grandma/grandpa Wilson, a train track, outfit, and diesal truck from grandma/grandpa Workman, an old McDonald hand puppet book from Anne, a light up/musical lantern and pj's from Becca and Shane, a bath set from Jeremy & Dani, clothes & a singing Micky Mouse puppet from Cory & Amanda, a card with $10 from Grandma Trudy, and sippy cups, a bib, water toys, and a water table from mom and dad. I'd say he made out pretty well for his first birthday!

When we were done with presents I hurry and set up the floor so that he could have his smash cake. We stripped him down to his diaper an let him have at it. He was pretty cautious about it at first, but with a little help from daddy and grandma he got right in there. Before to long he was eating pretty good size chunks of cake and he seemed to be enjoying it. After a little while he started to lose interest in the cake and started crawling off the table cloth so I took our little blue smurf up for a quick bath. 

He came back down just long enough to have a bottle and then went down for a nap a little after 2. We also sang happy birthday to Steven and let him blow out candles on the big cake that I'd secretly made for him all along since he never really got much of a birthday celebration on his actual birthday.

 While Landon slept Steven set up his water table for the other kids and a sprinkler on the lawn so Mason, Emma and Brayden could go outside to play while the adults talked. 

Of course they weren't out there very long before they'd had enough and were right back inside. My parents had brought the kids a balloon animal kit and they were all having fun blowing up, tying and popping balloons.

 About 3:00 Cory and Terrie headed home and we turned on a movie to have some quiet time. Around 5:30 Becca and Shane came by with their family on their way home from Bear Lake and visited for about 30 minutes to say hi to the birthday boy.

It's his party, and he can cry if he wants to...

 Once Becca and Shane left and headed home the rest of us piled into the van and headed to A&W for shakes per grandpa's request as if we hadn't consumed enough sugar already for one day!

 I do have to say though that their fresh raspberry shakes were pretty delicious! After ice cream it was home for baths and bedtime for the kids! It has certainly been a long day, but so worth it and I'm so grateful for our family that made the trip  to come celebrate Landon's first birthday with us, it really does mean a lot to us!
