33 Weeks

First, I just wanted to say that I'm SOOO excited to see my friends and family this coming weekend at the shower...I can't wait!

Second, I had an appt last Friday with a gyno-oncologist. Dr. Bhoola whom I met with was going to gather some additional prior records about my cervical cancer from my oncologist in CA and more than likely take my case over and be the one that will perform my modified-radical hysterectomy Oct 30th. I felt so relieved to FINALLY get into a gyno-oncology group here in AZ and knew that after they reviewed my case that they would agree that they needed to be the one's to treat my adenocarcinoma, not just the standard OB they had referred me to.

I'm running out of time to get my team of doctors together so I've been trying to be a little more vocal about my needs. I'm looking forward to seeing 'peanut' next week via one more growth ultrasound before her arrival.

32 Weeks

Bill & I went to yet another OB appt this evening. I was optimistic that the doctors would raise my bed rest today, but I guess what you want and what you get aren't always the same thing. The doctor checked my stitched VIP cervix and could feel the baby's head very close to the edge of existence and just shook her head....nope! She said she couldn't make me stay inside, but she still didn't feel confident in my cervix holding out until the 37th week if she let me return to making outside sales calls. I was a little upset since I've been officially on bed rest for 12 weeks now, but I reminded myself that our little prize is only 5 more weeks away. If DSI hasn't fired me thus far, I can only pray they'll take pity on me for another 5 weeks of bed rest and then 6-8 weeks of maternity leave...UGH!

I've been saying it all along, one morning I'm going to wake-up and "BAM" I'm going to look pregnant. I believe that happened sometime late last week. I feel like there is no hiding my prego-tummy now, plus it's red and itchy and my belly-button is slowly disappearing. I'm looking forward to my OB appt on Monday, optimistic that they will raise my bed rest and I can carefully get some things done and do some work outside of the house.

I also wanted to say, I'm so excited to be sharing my pregnancy with some other prego's...one of my best friends, Kym, who is expecting her second BOY! My beautiful friend, Shannon, who is expecting her second child...but first GIRL! My fabulous hair stylist and friend, Savannah, who is 5 weeks ahead of me and expecting her first GIRL! And, my sister-in-law Mindy who is currently 18 weeks and as of yesterday their 'lil peanut' is refusing to make his/her gender known. It's so much more fun going through the experience with other women!

30 Week Update

Bill & I went to the doctor for a growth ultrasound, although 'peanut' wasn't willing to show her face so we could get a 4D picture. All of her measurements were perfect and she's currently weighing in at 3lbs 3oz. Especially since I was excited that I hadn't gained any weight in the past 2 weeks. (Don't worry Aunt Cheryl it's because I've been eating lots of good food...the baby is fine, I promise we aren't starving...new bump photo attached.) Afterwards we met with an OB, pretty routine meeting, but I had a lot of questions/concerns since I've yet to have a meeting with a gyno-oncologist here in Arizona. I'm glad my pregnancy is going well, but I wanted to stress to my perinatal group that I still have cancer that I want to make sure doesn't get down-played during all the other excitement. The OB said he would get me in contact with Dr. Borst (gyno-oncologist) prior to my delivery and so I can maybe see him for follow-ups after my hysterectomy to make sure they got all the cancer. (Better safe than sorry I figure.) My other option would be to go back to see my Dr. Brown in California...ugh! Additionally, the doctors are still considering lifting my bed rest in 2 weeks...whoo-hoo!

As for Bill. he had an appointment last week with the orthopedic doctor and has been going to physical therapy. He's now working on putting 50% of his weight on his foot with hopes of being off crutches next month.
