Projects for Devin

      I was put in charge of a Super Saturday craft that happened last month. I wanted my kids to have a nativity set they can play with. Bridger has always wanted to play with my nativity set, I usually find him carrying around baby Jesus... and I think its great that he has so much interest in the nativity set, I just don't want him to break my set. My friend pointed me in the direction of these little wooden figures. And I thought how great they are! They can't break! (I ordered the little wood people here.)

     So this became one of our Relief Society Super Saturday projects. But wouldn't it be so much better with a stable? DEVIN... Would you PLEASE?? And he is so great and he did!  He thought the design for the stable all up on his own. He created it so that all the figurines fit so nicely, and can be shut up inside the stable to be put away until next year.  I love his design, and his willingness to help me! We had 25 sets we had to put together, so he put in a lot of work making all these for me!  

     Thanks hunny!  Thanks for humoring me, and always being the guy I can call on.  I think you're great!

Ice Storm

      Sunday we had a 'big' storm roll in.  We even got released an hour early from church so everyone could make it home safely before the storm hit. :) We woke up Monday morning to a winter wonderland! I've never seen so many icicles before. I think this was my first time experiencing an ice-storm. The streets looked magical, with icicles draped over every surface. Tree branches weighed down low, and Herndon turned into a winter wonderland.

      Devin came up with a fun family night activity... "Once there was a snowman... in the [heat] he melted... small, small, small".

       Devin and Bridger heaped up a snowman in our bowl, and I pulled out my handy blow-drier, so we could watch our snowman melt! We had to do it twice. :)

      This morning we woke up to snow!  Virginia is kind of funny, kids have school off, work closes down, the federal government even has called Monday and Tuesday of this week 'snow days'! I went shopping this morning, and my checker asked why in the world I would come out in this weather?? I could use my snow boots. Too bad most our snow things are in Utah, but don't worry too much... "I'll be home for Christmas, you can count on me!" And I'm sure we will get plenty use of our snow things then!

If We Lived in a Zoo...

      We had such a fun zoo day on Saturday! It was another chilly day, so we bundled up and headed out. So glad we did! It was so fun to be with Devin and the kids and make funny faces at all the animals. We particularly enjoyed the indoor exhibits (small mammal house, reptile house, gorilla house, and the elephant house), but they smelled really bad! We also really enjoyed watching the friendly, furry beavers get fed. Our kids were happy the whole time, and they even fell asleep for the car ride! It was a super day!
