Sadie's First Date

Sadie's good friend Stephen Smith was quick to ask Sadie to Homecoming. This was her first date just a few weeks after her birthday. Sadie had to follow string in the backyard all over the place to get the clue as to who was asking her. (I didn't think to get pictures cause we are new to the dating thing)

For their date both Steven and Sadie had play practice so they had an early morning breakfast and played Wii at one of the other kids houses then they went to play practice.

Sadie had a blast picking out her beautiful dress.

They had a fancy dinner at the Smith's home.

Beep Beep

Sadie is not Doug and I when it came to getting her license. She did not want to get it. She was so nervous and scared. So when her 15 and a half mark was coming up I told her that the day she turned 16 I would no longer be driving her to school and she would have to ride the bus. That was motivation enough. After some pointers on the written test from her cousin and friends and a great deal of studying she passed with a 93% on her first try on the very day she was eligible to get her driver's permit.

Then her dad would take her often for driving lessons. He is much more suited for that job than me. My kids tend to tune me out cause the lesson turns into nagging they say. Driving in the city can be a bit nerve racking.

Doug sold his tractor so we could get a car for our kids to drive. It is a great car but has some dents on the hood and car. She wanted to use that cause it is easy to park and drive. Sadie did such a great job. She passed with flying colors! Now I don't have to be in the car all day shuttling kids. It is scary to worry about her on the road with so many idiots but she will be careful. The Lord will protect her.

So the day came. Sadie's 16th birthday. I picked her up from school around lunchtime and she drove us to the DMV.

We heard the lady tester person was the best one to get and she got her so that was a relief.

The 3 point turn was a breeze.

People ask Sadie if she was in an accident. She says tells them her parents bought her a humility car.

She was so excited when she was told she passed!

That evening she was driving and she didn't turn her lights on so she got pulled over! She didn't even really know how to pull over or what to do. When she finally figured it out the cop told her she needed to turn on her lights and she said she didn't know how (she was use to driving my car and they are on auto lights, Doug hates lights for some reason in the day so he turns them off). He asked her how long she had been driving and she said 1 day. He showed her how to turn on the lights and showed her what registration and insurance is and let her go with a warning and was very nice. Hopefully she won't need it again! She was pretty embarrassed. 

Sadie's Black Baby.

Sadie is in a college level child development class in school. She loves it! For an assignment she had to take home a computerized baby to take care of for a weekend. She was assigned a black baby boy. This is funny because when she was little she asked for a black baby one year for Christmas. She got one too.

She wanted a girl and even dressed her boy like a girl but decided to keep him a boy. She had to wake up and take care of him even in the night. If the baby cried too long or had his head fall or anything she would get a bad grade. She loved every minute of it, even the night stuff. Only issue she had was she had to sing in church and didn't want to haul it up there. Right before she went up her doll cried but she quieted it down and had no issues. She is going to be an awesome mom one day! She got an A by the way.
