jackson's favorite kindergarten teacher

This is Jackson's kindergarten teacher from last year, Mrs Lachance. He LOOOOOOVED her. She had a baby in March or so of last year and she didn't come back to teach while he was still there. He waited and waited for her to return and she never did. So today, while we were at Kaitlin's Challenger parade, we snuck down to her classroom and there she was. He was so thrilled, he could hardly stand it. He got super shy but the smile on his face was huge. She is adorable and she always made him feel like a million bucks. She even made him feel that way today and she made him promise to come visit her more often. You rock, Mrs Lachance!

week of 10/25/10

in no particular order... the week was filled with lots of fun and different things. Steph and I have a friend, Sara, who has a tanning booth at a huge salon (did I say HUGE?) in Draper so Steph and I took the kids over today to a really fun boutique they had there. Lots of candy for the kids, a bounce house, and face painting.

The Scentsy buddies are SO CUTE!!!! I have 1 of each one and my kids have seriously adopted them. They each have their favorites and they all sleep with them every single night. Carli calls her "lamby" and she refuses to go to sleep without it, and her blanket. So sweet!
It's been a rough week for Jackson. He's had really bad stomach aches and even spent a few hours at the ER. So this night, we were supposed to carve pumpkins as a family but Jackson was too sick so Brian, bless his heart, carved all of these himself. Jackson and I were up at the pharmacy picking something up, Carli was in bed, so Brian, Kaitlin, and Logan did these (though Brian of course, really did it all). They turned out AWESOME! I bet you all think the U is Brian's, but it's mine! I thought it would be fun. So from L to R: mine, Kaitlin, Carli, Brian, Logan, and Jackson

I love looking at decor on people's blogs. These are a few of my new additions. Love this pumpkin, got it for only $10 at Gardner Village. Even cuter in person.

This looks weird in the picture but at night, from the street, these look really cool. Another one of my projects that ended up being Brian's project. He's been so awesome helping me with all these fun things!

I did however, make these pumpkins myself. I love them! Brian did cut the wood though!

Rosecrest had their Halloween parade yesterday. It was so fun to be with the kids.

I helped in Jackson's class for their Halloween party. That was really fun. Though, funny story. I was in charge of this little golf game and I had to keep bending down to reset the balls. Today, my legs are SO SORE. I can barely walk, or go up or down stairs. Pathetic! ;)

This is my friend Darleen. We have known each other since birth. She spent 2 1/2 months in a coma a few years ago after she suffered from a flesh eating bacteria. She is so amazing and I am so grateful to know her and have her as a friend! We met up for lunch the other day and it was so fun. I hope we can get together more often.

Today was Kailtin's halloween parade at Challenger. For some reason, I missed the memo that Challenger did these Halloween parades. My kids have been there for 4 years and this is the first time I ever went. I win the Mother of the Year award, NOT! None of my kids ever asked where I was or anything. I just didn't know. Ugh! But we all made it to Kaitlin's today (the boys didn't have school). It was great. Jackson was also able to see his favorite teacher, Mrs Lachance. I'll post a picture of them too. It was the highlight of his day to see her again. Cute Daphne (Kaitlin). Was Daphne's hair (from Scooby doo) really this orange?

this week in pictures

I wish I had taken more pictures today. We went to This is the Place park with our friends The Jensens that used to live in our neighborhod. Jen is such a great friend and our kids had a great time together. I really enjoyed talking to her 8 yr old son, we had some good laughs. Miss ya Jen!

We ran into several other friends too... 2 friends that I grew up with in California, and a few others. The kids had a great time with all their friends. This is the Place was adorable, all decked out for halloween and lots of fun activities for the kids to do, including listening to this witch tell a cute story! At least I got a picture of all of our friends from behind! ;)
I'm sure Cynthia has some great pictures of our excursion to the Dinosaur Park so when she posts them, I'll snag them, but here are a couple. Jackson got invited to go to the aquarium with a little girl from her class so while he did that, we went up to the Dino Park with Cynthia and kids.

We are grateful to have so many really neat friends in our lives that we adore and enjoy spending time with!

Last weekend was super busy. One fun thing we did was go to dinner at our cousins house, which my kids ALWAYS look forward to. All of the kids dressed up (minus Hannah who is still waiting for her costume). My kids love any excuse to dress up!

a couple of my neighbors got together and did a princess fashion show for all of the little girls in the neighborhood. it was adorable. they all dressed up in their best princess gear and walked the "runway" and while doing that, my friend Michelle read a little bit about them. the girls all loved it.

we met some friends over at gardner village one day. didn't get a lot of pictures, but this one was especially cute. sigh! what is logan to do in the middle of all these cute girls!

my mom and i took the kids to cornbelly's while brian and my dad went to priesthood session last saturday. so many fun things to do. we ran into steph and her family while there, and the kids enjoyed seeing buddies sebastian and peyton here and there. kaitlin looooooved dressing up in all the princess dresses.

the boys were so excited to play in "the creature" but once they got up to it, they were scared out of their wits. jackson went in about 20 steps and came running out for his life. logan wouldn't even go in. so much for "the creature!" maybe next year!

one more funny...

I was thinking about the funny things that my kids have been saying and one more came to mind. I caught Kaitlin talking on her cell phone the other night (a fake toy one) and I went into her room to tell her to go to sleep. She said, "Mom, I can't! I'm talking to one of my Scentsy girls!" HA! It gave me a glimpse into her teenage years, and of course, it was funny because of who she was supposedly talking to! ;)

I hope to print my blog up someday and so it's great to write down the funny things that my kids say. Here is another one. A while back, Jackson said, "mom, you are so fat!" Ouch! That stung and I told him that he should never ever ever call a girl fat. He apologized, numerous times that day. Since then, I decided that once and for all, I was going to stop feeling like a blob and get this taken care of. So over the last few weeks, I have put into practice what my nutritionist taught me, along with some encouragement from a close friend, and I am finally stomach free and have lost some inches and weight. Being stomach free is for sure the best thing ever. After 5 years, I DARE someone to ask me when I am due or what gender my baby is! (when I am not even pregnant!) I can finally fit into size 10 jeans and not have a muffin top. I feel so free! ;) So I decided to put my new size to the test this morning and I went up to Jackson and Logan and had this little convo:
Me: Do I look fat or skinny?"
Jackson: "skinny!"
Logan sat there for a brief second and
Jackson said, "Logan, whatever you say, don't say the 'f' word!" (fat)
Made me laugh. He learned from that earlier conversation and I hope it's something he carries with him for the rest of his life!
Logan then smiled and gave a big thumbs up!
Jackson: "Mom, you definitely are skinny and you don't have a stomach anymore!" and then he proceeded to pat it (but he used to squish it so that is also a positive step in the right direction!)
Now that's the kind of honesty I can stand to hear! ;)

The other day, Kaitlin was at a friends house and she didn't see me pull up, she went running by and finally caught glimpse of me and said, "ohhh bummer!" That definitely comes from my vocabulary. It was just so cute the way she said it.

Kaitlin was a little stinky last night and I told her that she needed a bath and she said she would take one today. I said, "wow, you really are stinky" and very matter of factly she said, "then don't sit by me!" ok then! She is 4 going on 20.

Kaitlin apparently spilled something on the ground the other day and I asked what happened and Logan said, "Kaitlin did it!" I heard Kaitlin mumble under her breath to Logan, "I'm going to beat you up when I am done drinking my juice." Luckily, it didn't happen.

One more Kaitlin that I want to remember... she is having some issues with a friend and in class last week, the little girl told the teacher that Kaitlin was mean to her. The teacher asked her what Kaitlin said, and the girl said that Katilin told her she hates her. The teacher asked Kaitlin if that was true and again, she matter of factly said, "Yes, I did say that, because I do!" After hearing this story, I asked her if she thought that hurt the little girls feelings and she said, "don't care!" Out of the mouths of babes...

On a positive note: Jackson has been doing very well in school, he has been getting nearly perfect scores on everything. Yesterday was the best when he came home with a 100% on his spelling test plus all the 3 of the extra credit words and sentences. Way to go buddy!!!!
