a few pics from last week!

One of our favorite family activities is to buy cookies, put them in cute bags, and deliver them to our neighbors and friends.  I used to buy these adorable star cookies but I haven't been able to find them in a long time, so last Monday night, I decided we were going to make and decorate our own cookies.  This was a big deal for me, I've never made them from scratch before.  But thanks to my most favorite cookbook in the whole world, Our Best Bites I decided to go for it.  They were SO yummy and turned out so cute!  A family effort!  We delivered them to the kids primary teachers and then our friends that lent us the cookie cutters and sprinkles.

 update on my family room progress: painted this contraption white, from black.  My "designer" says it's time to lighten the room up!

 I love that my kids are such good readers!  They have to read 20 minutes everyday, so why not read to the younger ones at the same time?  Woohoo!

 Added candy corns to the blue dish.  Love it!  Too bad I went through 2 packs of candy corns in 2 days, thanks to little fingers!  Had to come up with a new idea instead...

 Thought Kaitlin and Carli both looked adorable this day so snapped pictures of them at Rosecrest playground.



week of 9/12/11

 took the kids to gardner village last week, even though it was raining.  the kids still had a fun time!  we met up with friends and endured being rained on!

 I wanted to write this story down so I will post it here.  Jackson was talking to one of his buddies the other day in the car and they were talking about who their best friends are.  Jackson said, "my best friend is Jackson and I have 1 best friend that is a girl."  The buddy said, "let me guess, it's A."  Jackson said, "yep, I would do anything for her!" ahhhhh!  So sweet!  He's going to be such a good husband some day!

 a day in the life of the 'hood!  Yesterday, Brian was out doing yardwork and he came in and said - you might want to drive around and see what you can find.  There are fire engines and sirens flying down the street.  So I grabbed Carli and we took off (funny, our nextdoor neighbor grabbed out other neighbor and they took off to find it too!)  We didn't have to drive far, we turned the corner from out house and there was this scene - about 10 fire engines. A house was on fire the next street over from us.  This house is a particularly troubled house in my neighborhood, there is always something going on.  It was some excitement and there has been lots of talk about who started it, why, who is hurt, etc... It even made the news!

 My friend took me shopping to try and buy more stuff for our house.  We found these canisters which I LOVE. I've been looking everywhere for new canisters for our flour, sugar, etc...  I never would have thought to buy mismatched stuff, but she totally has the eye for this kind of thing.  I love them!

 I bought this awesome blue bowl. It's another one of my FAV things we bought!  I love the simplicity of everything on this bakers rack, and I love how this blue bowl just pulls everything together.  I am going to fill it up with candy corns.  So cute!

more summer pics

I found a few more pictures from our summer activities.  We spent an afternoon with cousins at Lagoon (this time we got Deni, Hannah, and Ray to join us in addition to Liz and Chris, We had a great time!

I thought you guys might want to see how warmers are made.  They are all handmade, handpainted, etc... Take a minute to look at it.  I think it's super cool and it's another reason why I LOVE Scentsy!

room re-do part 1

There are a couple of friends in my neighborhood that decorate their houses ammmmaaaazzzing!  Lucky for me, one of them is helping me decorate my house because she sees great potential in it!  (and Brian nor I seem to know how to decorate very well). We started in the family room and have done a part of it.  Thought I would post pictures as we progress.  So the first thing we did was take down some nasty blinds that were awesome at one time but now have loads of holes in them from the kids, and put up super cute curtains from Ikea. Trying to decide if we like the knots in the bottom or not.  Opinions?  Then also from Ikea, we got the 2 pillows on the couch and the navy blue area rug on the floor. 

One of Tiffany's ideas was to get rid of the dark glass on the 2 outside panels on the media center.  It looks so much better without it!  I also replaced the ugly gold handles on the media center with silver ones.

I will post pictures as new things happen.  Eventually this whole house will be AMAZING!  We are going to paint the room next!

weekend fun!

the girls went to a bday party for their friend, Peyton.  It was Carli's first official birthday party (aside from family) that she was invited to.  they dressed up as princesses and scored in the take home goodies (by the time carli got home she had lipgloss alllll over her face, neck, and arms). 

 We went to the fair with our friends over the weekend.  The boys didn't want to go so it was a girls night out!  It was fun!

 At the fair, there were these crab shells that were painted! They were so cool!

yea! Success! I finally downloaded all of the old pictures that I've been meaning to get to for months!  These are all of my dad's pictures from Bear Lake.  So many cute ones! 

 Brian is such a GOOD dad.  He is always in the water with the kids.  I don't enjoy being in the water like I used to so I am always grateful to have him be the playmate for the kids! 

We were glad that the KOA had a store so we could go get smores stuff.  

We had so much fun with Cynthia, Finn, and Berlin while we were there!  They met us at the beach and the kids had a great time playing together.
