Battlefield Park, Prairie Grove

We went to the Battlefield Park in Prairie Grove where we learned about the Confederate Army in the Battle of Prairie Grove. It's one of the most intact Civil War battlefields. When we saw the original houses, we explained to Julia how those people did not have light, running water, indoor bathrooms, or t.v.'s She didn't like the idea of no t.v. for sure. We saw wagons and explained how they were used in place of cars. We also talked to her about the military, war and how the men and women fought for our freedoms. She was more concerned with the playground at the end of the trail. OH well, we tried to teach her some history. . .

The weather was perfect so we also took the opportunity to take some outdoor pictures.

Picking Flowers

These are Julia's flowers that grew from the one she gave me on Mother's Day. She waters them and also likes to pick them. She said, "One for Mommy, One for Daddy, and One for Joseph".

Julia saw me with my camera and said she wanted to take some pictures so we went outside and she posed for me.

Morning Fun

Yesterday morning I was getting ready for work and had Joseph nearby. Julia laid down beside him and said "Mommy, take our picture" so that I did. Don't you love her fake smile?

Joseph at 5 months

Joseph now weighs over 15 pounds. He is a strong boy for his size. He can sit up and attempts to crawl. He is constantly rocking on his hands and knees. I'm not sure how he does it, but he moves his legs and lunges forward to get what he wants. He has started getting into things in the living room. Keeping him on a blanket is nearly impossible. He has spotted a basket of magazines on the floor of the living room and makes his way over to them repeatedly. Tonight he pushed one of his toys over to the fireplace from the center of the living room. He is slow (for now) but is somewhat mobile.

Snapshots

Julia was writing on the sidewalk with chalk and Joseph was lying on a blanket in the grass so I decided to snap some pics. Julia wanted to pose too. It seems like the candid shots turn out the best. I love their smiles:)

Fun at Pool

We spent the weekend at the pool. Julia had fun splashing around and playing with a beach ball. Joseph napped and played on a towel. It was work keeping him on the towel.

Park with Jett

Julia went to a big park with her friend, Jett. They played so well together. They loved riding this dinosaur and took turns riding in front. They also had a blast playing in the sand.

Dora the Explorer Live

Dora has been Julia's favorite t.v. character for quite awhile now. We have the show DVR'd so she can watch it any time. So we were excited that she got to see Dora Live over the weekend. She was ready to go with her Dora sunglasses. The show was impressively done and very interactive. Julia was overwhelmed with all the excitement but would not stop talking about the show later.

Joseph

Joseph is just growing like a weed. He must have hit a growth spurt because he is starting to outgrow his 3-6 month clothes already. A couple weeks ago he was waking up in the night to eat so I guess he really needed those extra calories. It seems like he is getting so long. He now can rock back-and-forth on his knees and can move to get toys.

Krispy Kreme

We visited our friends, the Gay's, in Little Rock and they took us to Krispy Kreme. Jackson enjoyed feeding Joseph his bottle while Preston and Julia watched how the donuts were made. They also had a kids play area where they played. Julia had so much fun playing with the boys. They treated her like a princess.
