Cousins

Travis' sister Jeanene and her family visited us for a few days.  We are so glad they came.  Their 3 kids are about the same age as ours and they had a blast together.  Luckily the weather was 70's and even 80.

We made a leprechaun trap. Gold coins were sitting on a flimsy pretzel walkway so when he steps on it, he'll fall through and be trapped.

 

He was a tricky leprechaun and ate his way out.

Trick or Treat

Well Halloween is gone.  The afternoon started off horribly w/ Douglas and Harrison whiny and fighting.  I took them anyway to the outlet malls trick or treating at 4, ate quick corn dogs and Dad was home to go trick or treating down the street.  It was so fun.  The street was busy w/ people and it was interesting b/c our side and most of the houses passing out candy.  The opposite side was pretty dull.  I loves watching Luke mumbling for candy and then saying thank you.  so fun.  One thing I want to do differently next year is have a crock pot meal at home and invite friends over.  We'll see.

This house on our street went ALL out.  Douglas enjoyed it but Luke screamed and Harrison didn't care for it either when they went inside the black walkway.

State Fair 2012

The State Fair of Texas is a family tradition.  Toyota had fishing again.  The fish kept stealing the worms and when we'd tug on the pole the fish would get off. 

The mock farm is the best.  We do it every year.  They plant seeds, water peach trees, feed chickens, milk cows, etc. (all pretend of course)

The boys rode several rides but to use the rest of our tickets I had to get on one w/ them b/c Harrison is too short.  This wide was wilder than I expected.  It spinned wildly.  Douglas liked it but poor Harrison did not.  This was when the ride finally stopped spinning.

It was a long fun day.

State Fair 2011

We had a lot of fun at the State Fair.  I even tried fried butter in an attempt to get on the news but it was gross.   I'll let the pictures do the talking.

We enjoyed the food, car show, dog show, bird show, and rides.

Fishing, Great Grandma, and more!

(**Before I get started, those of you w/ 3-6 month old babies, have they settled into a schedule yet, and if so, tell me about it.  Times of nap, length, etc)

After everyone left, we went to the fish farm with Grandpa.  We bought food to throw in, the fish swarmed it and bit the line in their haste.  Harrison didn't have the patience for it so Douglas caught both fish. 

On the way home we saw the coolest street sign and had to get a picture of course!

For lunch we went to Tucanos!  I love that place and they don't have it in Texas so I try to go there when I'm in Utah.  It's a Brazilian restaurant and it has the best salad bar over other Brazilian restaurants.

We had to get a picture with Great Grandma Harrison too.

It was a great trip.  We will miss all the family.

And the cousins.  Poor Christian had strep and a sunburn that his sister was accidentally touching.

That about sums up our vacation!

Hill reunion, part 2

Grandpa Hill made "Camp Oakbrush" in the back yard.  He set up 4 or 5 tents and put signs naming them all.  One was camp Douglas Fir.  Douglas and Travis slept in Douglas Fir one night and then the last night Douglas slept out there with his cousins.

One day Uncle Tim brought back a horny toad from his hike to show Douglas.  Douglas is still talking about that toad.  As a matter of fact 4 days ago Douglas informed me he knows what we should name our next baby.  I asked what.  He said, "Whats the name of the person who got the spikey toad?"  I told him Tim and Douglas said, "Lets name the baby Spikey Tim."

It's no secret that Douglas has become obsessed with bugs.  Well, his obsession didn't weary over vacation.  As a matter of fact he brought his bug jar in the car to take the 2 day drive to Utah.  Anyway, Grandpa Hill has a big planters pot full of dirt and worms for fishing.  Oh my did Douglas LOVE digging through that and finding the biggest worms.  Harrison didn't want anything to do with it.  Also, Douglas found some bugs and Grandpa helped him "mount" the bugs.  We have a glass box with the following bugs waiting for us in Utah.
