180th Semi Annual General Conference

Skyler in his graphic design class had to make a typograph for an assignment. There was no specific topic, the sky was the limit and Sky chose General Conference. I LOVE how he built the Conference Center out of the names of the Prophet and Apostles and their words as well. I LOVE it Sky and knew you would too. It's the Autumn Thiot Times

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
Becky’s youngest brother and his darling wife arrived Tuesday afternoon and what fun they have had. Matthew and Hailey have found an apartment and are on the hunt for furniture to furnish it. They brought their mattress with them but are in need of everything else to furnish their home. They’ve been watching Craig’s list and hitting garage sales hunting. Matthew started his job on Saturday and Hailey is busy filling out job applications. Brooklyn and Addison are loving having them here and Becky is loving having such helpful hands close by. There apartment is just a few miles away and they will move in the 1st of October. We had a fun lunch date with the Mansfield Thiot’s and the Barnett Granges at Chuy’s on Saturday. Ricky and Becky have long loved it and we agree, they make some yummy fajitas! It was so fun to see our little girls and enjoy our Texas family.

Tatia’s young women this week learned about cake decorating. Tatia loved baking a cake and getting to try her hand at cake decorating too. She is Good! Tatia and Jake are having an extra fun weekend. They are tending the children that Tatia used to Nanny for. They even get to bring them to church today. I’m excited to have Miss Aubrey in our Sunbeam class. I think she will love Primary. They aren’t members of our church but I sure hope they will enjoy it. Good Luck Tatia and Jake with 3 little people at church I can't wait to see you in action.

Mackenzie has been having some fun shopping the clearance racks for next summer’s wearing. She has found how fun it is to get to look at the little boys things and has loved getting to buy some cute little things for the new baby for next summer. Keelie is getting excited for her new baby to come and loves practicing being a big sister with her baby dolls. I think she is going to be wonderful at it.

Pierce and Stacy have recently been called to serve in the Cub Scout Program in their ward. They are the leaders for the Bear Den. They have four little 9 year olds in their den, one of which is Stacy’s cousins little boy. They are enjoying it. I was thrilled that they have this opportunity as I so enjoyed my days as a den leader. On Friday night, they got to attend the Fall Carnival at their cub scouts school and had a fun time. Pierce especially was thrilled when a Fire Truck came and was talking about safety with the children. He was delighted to discover that is was no ordinary fire truck but was a PIERCE Fire truck. He loved posing for a picture in front of it.
Our BYU Thiot
Last Sunday Skyler got a new calling in his ward. He is now serving as the Ward Financial Clerk. He gets to stay after church and help count the donations and help keep the church’s records. What a great experience this will be and what great training with his own finances. Go Sky! He continues to work hard in school and is happy to report he is still doing well. Hard work does in fact pay off. Go Sky!
We Empty Nester Thiot’s
On Wednesday, when the calendar told us that indeed summer was over and Welcome to Autumn time, the weather did take a bit of a change for the cooler. We’ve had a rainy and cooler weekend. I’m always tickled on the weather news when they call it a COLD front that is here, and our weather is still in the 80’s. I guess that is Texas’s Cold. I will take it. It feels better already.
One of the jobs of my to do list for too long has been to defrost our freezer. I usually end up flooding the laundry room when I do it and wanted to do a better job this time around. I’ve been putting it off trying to figure out a better technique. This time I got out the wet vac and went to work sucking up the water as the ice melted. It was quite efficient and except for discovering that my freezer is not working very well, was a success.
Dick has been a bit under the weather this week. You know he isn’t doing well when he agrees to go see the doctor. He even switched doctors as our former doctor would almost have a prescription written out when you walked in his door. I’m glad he is feeling better and hope he will be back to his old self soon. I had some very fun visitors on Wednesday afternoon. Kinsley Kate and her brothers and Mother came and I LOVED it! I do love little people. Saturday night was one of my favorites. The last weekend in September is the Relief Society Conference was women 18 and older. I’ve loved going since I joined Relief Society. This year they showed it on BYU TV and I have to admit, it was wonderful to watch it right her at home all by myself. What sweet sisters lead our Relief Society. I loved getting to hear from our dear Prophet President Monson too and it made me so excited for General Conference next weekend. It’s always my favorite weekends of the year. I always love to get my house all clean for General Conference as we will be having those sweet church leaders speaking right here, via the Television set, but I’m pretending they are coming! PIERCE Firetruck take 2

What fun last night was when DIck was sent this photo on his i-phone from Pierce's i-phone. When Pierce was a little boy, 3 years old, he had an accident where he was run over by a garbage truck. Well, the coolest part of the accident to Pierce, was that he was taken to the hospital in the PIERCE Firetruck which was also an ambulence. It's been a great story to share thoughout the years and we are thankful everyday for that miracle that saved Pierce's life. What fun to see grown up Pierce by a Pierce Fire Truck! Thanks for sharing PJ!

Can we come for a visit Grammy?

Music to a Grammy's ears are those very words, Can we come for a visit Grammy? Today Kinsley Kate and her darling baby brothers, Luke and Owen stopped by for a visit. I LOVED it. Kinsely decorated some beautiful cookies and made a darling candy necklace. What fun we had reading a story and playing tic tac toe, three in a row. Thanks for calling Kinsley and making such a fun afternoon for Grammy. I love you!

Up, Up and Away

Right this minute while I am typing, Becky’s youngest brother Matthew and his beautiful bride Hailey, are driving from Redding, California to Mansfield, Texas where they are hoping to settle in and start their married life together. His job transferred him to Texas and they are going to stay with our Mansfield Thiot’s until they find a place of their own. Ricky and Becky and the girls are getting so excited and have had fun painting and fixing up the guest room for them to stay in. It’s the prettiest apple green I’ve ever seen. It looks wonderful and I’m sure the Jensen’s are going to love staying with you. I loved getting to come to Pre-school on Tuesday with Brooklyn. It was so fun to make strawberry jam with her little class. It was delicious! I’ve also been enjoying my zip lock bag that will turn into Amish bread. Only a few more days of tending it and it will be time to bake. Thanks Becky!!!!!
Our Barnett Granges
Tatia calls me almost every afternoon on her way home from pre-school and I love hearing about the Letter of the week and the fun stories the little children share with their teacher. She is enjoying her new job. Jake had one of his block classes finish on Friday with a GIANT sized exam. He was disappointed in the test as it really didn’t test what they had been studying. How is it that some teachers seem to Delight in making things more difficult than they need to? Grrrrrrrr Saturday morning was our Super Saturday for Relief Society and Tatia and I got to teach the class on sewing scripture tote bags out of a placemat. Talk about fun!!!!! She was a LOVELY assistant and it was great to have her help. Thank you T! Saturday night, she and Jake went to Plano’s Balloon Festival. Hot Air Balloons come from all over the country to participate and it’s lots of fun to watch. You will have to peek at her blog to see the fun photos she took. Love it!

Charlie’s cell phone plan ran out last week and he thought it was time to be like the other Thiot boys and get an i-phone. He took his birthday money and went for it. I have to admit, I LOVE it when the phone rang on Friday night and it was Keelie’s face on the phone. She sang us three song. The Insy winsy spider climbed up the water spout, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and my favorite I am a Child of God. Oh my goodness, does she know how to melt her grammy’s heart. I LOVED it and I think I am going to LOVE Charlie having an i-phone. Thanks for the fun Phone Call Carmichael Thiot’s. We love you very very much!

Pierce and Stacy are so lucky to live just minutes away from the beautiful Provo Canyon. They took a fun drive up this last weekend to see the fall colors that are beginning to appear on the mountain side. I love those mountains and I’m so glad they live so close and that they love them too. I love the pictures they take and you are going to want to take a peek on their blog to see the gorgeous fall mountains. Another thing they are lucky about is living just a few minutes from my cousin Kathy. She is the most thoughtful person I have ever known in my life. She is almost like an angel right on earth. She stopped by their home to bring them some muffins she made. Yummy! Happy Birthday tomorrow KathyP!

Skyler is enjoying school. He is loving his class schedule and says his classes are the best. He loves getting to see Pierce almost every day as it’s always good to have family close by. On Saturday he went to Spanish Fork to an India Festival. He loved it and said he promises to share some photos of him and the llamas. I wonder if it is the same festival Pierce and Stacy went to last year when they got painted with colored chalk dust. Kind of crazy. I’ll need to get more information.
We Empty Nester Thiot’s
Dick spent the first half of the week at a conference in Las Vegas. I dropped him off on Monday and then got to pick him Wednesday night. His flight was later than he originally thought when he asked me to pick him up, but I was still game to go. He told me the flight came in at 10:40 at terminal A gate 24. So at 10:40, I was there and he was not. I waited for 30 minutes, then parked and went inside and discovered the plane had landed at terminal D gate 31 instead. So I headed over there. Guess what? He wasn’t there. After driving around and waiting, I finally parked and went in to find a pay phone. I called and asked where he was, he had taken the bus over to terminal A since I wasn’t at Terminal D and was looking for me. He told me to wait where I was and he would come find me. What a crazy night. When Sky came home from his mission, I had to return his cell phone to him but I think I may be in need of one at least to go to the airport. Ugggggg what a frustraiting evening. I think Dick will take the super shuttle in the future. Friday we got to attend the temple with two young men going to Equador on their missions this week. We loved being there with Kenny and Kyle. They spoke in church on Sunday and did a super job. I hope your week has been good and you are ready for an even better upcoming one. Sure love ya’ll, Robynn

Searching for Small & Simple Thiot Times

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
This was a very important week in Mansfield, Texas. Our little Brooklyn started Pre-school this week. Tuesday morning was her first day and she had a great time. She learned about Rules and how to follow them. What a very important lesson to be your first in pre-school. There are four little children that their mommy’s take turns being the teacher. Becky’s first week is this coming week. She and Brooklyn are very excited for the first time in their home. I’m excited for Tuesday as I got invited to come and demonstrate and help the children make Strawberry Jam. Brooklyn has helped me make it before and we love to do it together so this will be so fun. I promise to take some pictures to share next week.

Jake is finding the second year of medical school to be a bit more challenging than year one. They really turn on the speed in teaching, testing and he can really feel the difference. He’s taking a Pharmaceutical class where they have to know about LOTS and LOTS of drugs. He has been putting in some extra study time in preparation for that upcoming test. Tatia taught about apples on Friday and had her preschoolers test Red, Green, and Yellow apples and choose their favorites. She then had them do some apple printing with the apples and of course, if it involves paint, children love it. I would love to be a fly on the wall and watch her in action some time. I love hearing about her fun adventures with her classes.

Charlie has enjoyed this week off and has had some time to update his job resume and interview with a head hunter in hopes of upgrading his employment. We keep hoping that a new job might bring him closer to Texas. We would love that for sure. Dick got a fun phone call this week with some photos of our little Keelie! What fun that was to see her. Almost as fun as an in person visit, but not quite. We love you Keelie

Pierce has a fun new tradition that a couple or nights a week, I get to car pool home with him, on the phone that is. I love keeping up with his and Stacy’s busy world. Stacy’s grandparents were in Orem this weekend for a funeral of a friend of theirs and they got to have a sleep over at Pierce & Stacy’s Bed and Breakfast. They have had quite a bit of company this past few weeks and they are wonderful hosts. It is so fun to be at their home. They probably have a waiting list for future guests. They were looking forward to going out to dinner with Stacy’s grandparents and getting to enjoy their company before they head back to St. George.

Skyler is settling in to his school routine and getting into the homework and even took his first test this week. I’m sure it feels good to be busy and have a schedule after being used to that for 2 years as a missionary and then having six weeks without much of one. He’s enjoyed running into people he knew from freshman year and missionary friends too. He’s enjoying his graphic design class and has been making a few logos for some interested customers; one that I can’t wait to see if for a Beekeeper who makes organic honey. I’m sure it will be one “sweet” logo.
We Empty Nester Thiot’s
This weekend was Stake Conference which means that in place of attending our regular block of meetings, we get to attend the Stake Center for a WONDERFUL meeting with ½ of our stake there. It was a very uplifting few hours and I so enjoyed being there. Our Stake President spoke about the small and simple things that make life so good and told us to use this to remind us. S M P L meaning Simple.
S= Service. Be quick to observe those who have needs and try to help them. Small acts of service are wonderful. Send a note, make a phone call, Smile, say hello.
M=Mothers. Homes where a good mother is present have family prayer, scripture study and Family night. Be that kind of mother and show appreciation to yours.
P=Pray for guidance and direction. Teach others what you learn through praying. Stay close to the Lord.
L=Listen to the still small voice. What do we need to do to hear that voice more clearly. How can we rid our life’s of Noise so we can hear the spirit and follow him more closely.

It was a great conference and we are surely blessed to have great leaders in the Plano Stake.

Birthday Week at the Thiot Times

Our Mansfield Thiot’s
This was Ricky’s week to travel to his Oklahoma Customers and so he was gone until Thursday evening. When he returned he cooked up a birthday surprise get away for Becky’s birthday. They headed to San Antonio and then on to North Padre Island for a trip to the beach. Brooklyn and Addison both LOVED the sand and the water. What a fun weekend they are having. They are due back on Monday and we are hoping to have them join us for a Labor Day/Birthday celebration in the evening. Be safe and have fun!

Tatia celebrated her 29th birthday on Wednesday. Dick told her it must be a really good year as it’s the year where many women simple hold for the remainder of their lives. After Tatia’s first week of teaching pre-school at the Apple Creek Pre-school, she and Jake planned a fun getaway for Saturday. They headed out bright and early to Lake Texoma to a nature preserve there where they saw countless varieties of birds and water creatures. They took some great photos and had a fun time. Then they headed to Gainsville, Texas for a yummy lunch at the “Fried Pies”. They enjoyed looking around at the antique (junk) shops and can’t wait to go back again soon. They brought us back a fried apple pie. I can hardly wait to break my fast and try it. Thank You!

Mackenzie had an ultra sound appointment on Wednesday and you won’t believe it, but they said this new baby Thiot coming in January is going to be a BOY!!!! We are all so happy for them and can harldy wait to meet this new little boy. Charlie headed out early Saturday morning for Salt Lake. He is trading in the Jeep for a more ecomical ride that Grandpa had. A Honda del-sol. Mackenzie is NOT enjoying driving the Jeep any longer and so she will get the Honda Civic and Charlie will drive the Del-sol. I hope it will be a good thing for their little family.

It was sure fun to spend last weekend with Pierce and Stacy. The music video that Pierce had been working on was posted to You-tube this week. Pierce has loved reading “most” of the comments about it and seeing all the “hits” it has gotten. Congratulations Pierce! It’s sure a winner. Pierce has been a big help to Sky getting him all settled in and helping him have a great 22nd birthday on Tuesday. Thanks Pierce. Stacy is going to do a photo shoot on my sweet Uncle Mike and Aunt Kayes Family this weekend. I can't wait to hear how it went. What a beautiful family! Thanks Stacy!

Skyler is back to school in full swing. I think the six weeks he was home could not have gone fast enough for him. He is loving it, and I hope working hard and studying lots. Dick was delighted to discover that he knows Sky’s bishop. He used to work with him when we lived in Utah when Skyler was born. It’s fun to make those connections and know that someone who we know is watching over Sky. A tender mercy of the Lord for sure.

At church today, several people asked if we were enjoying be empty nesters. I do miss having Skyler at home. He is such a fun person and has always been that it is quiet with him away. I think I had forgotten what it was like to have so much ALONE time here. As soon as we got back in town, Dick unloaded the car and headed to the office where he has been most of the week. It seems like computers/servers were just waiting for him to return to fall apart. He’s been working hard to get everything back on track. One of his favorite hours of the week was taking Tatia birthday shopping. She had been wishing for a pair of cowboy boots. They had fun going to the “Boot” store and finding just the right boot scooting pair. Tatia wore them to church today with her new denim skirt and looked like the little Texas gal that she truly is. I love that funny girl!

It's good to be back home and get back into routines. It was a fun and very fast trip to Utah and was so good to see my family. I wish we would have had more time to see all of you that I love so much. SLY Robynn
