Ramp Jam

After I got home from my run on Saturday, and Scott got home from conducting a baptism, we looked at our ball of energy in all his glory and said, "What should we do to wear him out today? "

The next thing we knew we were at Sea World feeling pretty spoiled that we could have such a great form of spur-of-the-moment entertainment ten minutes from our house, and since we have season passes it's guilt free (pun intended) entertainment.

We got a special treat that day from professional skateboarders, BMXers, and in-line skaters that compete on the X Games Dew Tour. Boston loved it. It was definitely different than the usual animal shows we see, and Scott had fun getting some sweet pictures too. Good thing Boston doesn't have a bike yet or I'm pretty sure he would have gone straight home and tried to imitate these guys. As he was watching them he kept saying, "I want to ride a bike." We told him we'd get him one for Christmas. We've been wanting to get him a bike for a long time. Hopefully these crazy Ramp Jam stunts will be long gone from his memory by the time he gets his bike. :)

He's fearless. Although you should have seen him jump when a shark swam up suddenly without him anticipating it. It was pretty funny. Does this picture give anyone else the willies? It just doesn't look right to have my two year old that close to a real shark whether there's glass between them or not.

Thanks Sea World for wearing Boston out. Nap time was nice.

Football and Other Guy-ish Things

Scott's dad came to visit a couple weekends ago for some guy time with Scott and Boston. The Fitz girls always make sure to get in at least one girls weekend, (and this year it's two!) so it's only fair that the Fitz boys get some guy time in too.

The Bass Pro shop was our first stop after Barry arrived in Texas. (Barry needs to work on his tough- guy face though.) I'm surprised smiley little Boston was able to pull one off.

After wandering around The Bass Pro Shop for awhile, we were ready for some food. I know it was a guys weekend, but they were nice enough to let me tag along for some of it.

We ended up going to Maggiano's Little Italy for dinner, and we all loved it. The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was adorable. We even got a personal visit from the head chef a couple times to answer some of our questions about the food. Very impressive.

The next day was spent golfing and football watching. Nothing says guy time like football and golfing right?  Boston and I didn't tag along for these two activities. We went to Pet Smart to look at the dogs and animals, and that night we went to Sea World. We also made an ice-cream stop on the way home from Sea World. We had a fun little Mommy-son date of our own that day.

The BYU vs. Texas game was Barry's birthday present this year.

Scott said there were a lot of half and half fans their like this guy. There sure are a lot of BYU grads making their way down to Texas. It's the place to be I guess. Now if we could just get some family to move out here...

Sounds like it was a good game, minus BYU barely losing at the end.

The next day was Sunday, and time for Barry to head back to Utah. It was a quick trip.

Boston had fun playing his favorite game with Grandpa, which is build a tower and knock it down.

Nice kick Bos! This is one of the few forms of entertainment that Scott and I are able to occupy Boston with when we are at home. It's getting kind of old, so we are really excited to get him some new games and toys for Christmas that we can do together. We're trying to think of some good ideas, so leave a comment if you have any for us!

After driving around looking at neighborhoods for awhile, eating breakfast, and taking a nap, we were all ready for church. This picture turned out really cute.

Just a funny little sidenote: We're still working on Boston's pronunciation for many words. Grandpa happens to be one of those hard words for him to say. He called Barry "Bum-bum" most of the time he was here, which was his attempt at Grandpa. I think he was a little confused because the grandkids on my side call my dad "Bumpa," which is a nickname created by Ethan when he was too little to pronounce Grandpa. I think he was trying to call him "Bumpa" and it was sounding like Bum-bum. We kept correcting him, but he didn't quite get it down. We tried to tell him to say Papa, which is what he called Barry last time he came to visit, but it just kept coming out like Bum-bum. Someday he'll get it down. Grandpa Fitz is Papa, and Grandpa Billings is Bumpa.

I love this picture too.

Thanks for coming to visit Papa Fitz! We love visitors!

No Work and All Play

That's what we did for Labor Day.

Scott and I (Ok mostly I) decided that Austin should be our Monday holiday destination. I love that place. Zilker Park + Hula Hut is my kind of holiday. We all love it, especially when the weather is as nice as it was for Labor Day. We lucked out with some cooler weather that day and soaked it in as much as possible.

We started with some biking and playing at the park until we got hungry for some Hula Hut.

Here's Bos with the Earl boys at Hula Hut looking for sharks in the water. The Earls were in our BYU ward back in Utah, and now they live in Houston. It was fun to meet up with them in Austin and hang out for a day. Boston loved having two buddies right around his age to play with too.

Cute little dudes.

We managed to keep them entertained for almost an hour while we waited to be seated with some digging in the sand, a little chasing around, and looking for sharks.

So close Boston. Keep trying. We have about 45 more minutes before we're seated!

Here's the whole group just waiting for our yummy food. Three energetic toddler boys without a nap at a restaurant is quite the experience. I don't really recommend it, but the food was worth it.

Too bad we don't live closer because Boston and Cohen would be good buddies.

After Hula Hut we decided to ride our bikes a little more and go swimming in the river at Zilker Park. On the way there Boston zonked out on the towels he was holding for me. We skipped his nap so we could spend the entire day in Austin. I figured he'd be fine since he willingly skips his naps from time to time, but I've never seen him so zonked out! It was pretty funny. He was exhausted.

We let him sleep in the bike seat for a little bit while we took turns changing into our swim suits, and then he stayed asleep on my shoulder while I carried him down to the river. He woke up once we got there, and he was really excited to go swimming until...

He discovered that the river was not as warm as our bath-water pool at home. This was Boston's first experience with "cold" swimming water, and he did not like it very much. I'm sure it wasn't even very cold. It's not like it's made from melted snow like the ones in Utah, but we've become pretty sensitive to anything remotely cold now. We've grown accustomed to the 100 degree temperatures and bath-water swimming pools. Now when the temperatures drop to the 80's we think it's "nice and cool out."

Boston eventually got in the water and had a blast, although I could tell he didn't enjoy it quite as much as the swimming pools.

It turned out to be a fun and long day! We left first thing in the morning and got home after dark. No work and all play is definitely a good way to celebrate Labor Day.

Here's a funny little video of us trying to wake Boston up to go swimming. I have never in my life seen him in this deep of a sleep. Normally a soft whisper and touch will snap him right out of his sleep and back to his energizer bunny ways, so Scott and I were pretty amazed when we saw him like this. There's also a little clip of Boston and Scott jumping in the cold water. You'll hear Boston whine that "It's Cold!" at the end.

Family Date Night

A few weekends ago our good friends invited us to Dave and Busters with them. They had some extra points to use up, and they were so nice to share the fun with us! Aren't Boston and Kylie so cute together? They are such good buddies.

Dave and Busters is like a Chuck E Cheese for adults, but there's plenty of fun for kids too.

Here's Boston and Kylie's dad, Brett playing a horse race game. Boston has always loved Brett. Whenever Brett's around Boston usually won't let me or Scott hold him. It's really funny and kind of random.

Bos and Ky thought it was pretty awesome that we let them sit on the air hockey table.

Sitting on a table and hitting something around is definitely Boston's idea of fun.

He also absolutely loved driving cars and riding motorcycles too. Whenever we walk by motorcycles in a parking lot he always points to them and says, "That's mine." I think he means, "I wish that was mine." Ha ha.

Boston's already picking up the older girls. That's Josie, one of my cute sunbeams. They are pretty new in the ward. I love this picture. I think it's hilarious.

Here's Josie's mom, Heather. They live pretty close to us, so we've gotten together quite a few times already. (She hosted Stacie's surprise baby shower at her adorable house.) Her cute little baby Tate is 8 weeks old.

The highlight of the night was that dolphin Boston is holding. I guess he has an intense love for dolphins (probably due to Sea World) that we didn't really know about until this night. I was trying to win him a stuffed animal from one of those claw machines, and when I got a puppy I was all excited and said, "Look Boston I won you a puppy!" I thought he would be thrilled, but he just had his eyes glued on the dolphin in the machine and was pretty much oblivious to anything else. He kept staring at it and pointing to it in the machine. I could tell he really, really wanted that dolphin. He was very persistent and passionate about getting the dolphin. I asked a couple of the workers if we could trade the two stuffed animals we had already won for the dolphin, and they agreed. Boston was so happy and so in love with that dolphin. He wouldn't put it down the rest of the night and then he slept with it. It was so cute to see him so excited about such a simple thing.

Thanks to the Reeves for such a fun family date night!
