Boston's Kindergarten Zoo Field Trip

Brody and I got to tag along to Boston's Kindergarten field trip to the San Antonio zoo on April 21st. It was a fun, but very humid day! The class split into smaller groups of 3-4 kids with each parent. Boston's favorite animals were the tigers, rhinos, and snakes. Brody loved petting the goats! 

Brody 15 Months

Brody is now 16 months, but here are his 15 month stats from his check-up on April 13th:

Weight: 23 lbs. (54%)

Height: 31.5 in. (62%)

Head: 18 in. (20%)

He was only in the 8th percentile for height at 12 months, so I was happy to see he had moved up! 

Brody is now an active, busy toddler! He climbs on everything, runs everywhere, and pulls everything out of cupboards and drawers that he can get his hands on. Good thing Boston was really active, so I already have some practice for this stage this time around. My dad put locks on our kitchen cupboards when he was here in March. I was so excited about that. Making dinner got much easier when I didn't have to worry about Brody pulling glass or cleaning supplies out of our kitchen cupboards. 

However, he'll always be one step ahead of me. Two days after my dad installed the cupboard locks, Brody was climbing on the stove! He keeps my days exciting. 

He's also into unrolling the toilet paper. I need to remember to keep all the bathroom doors closed now. Every time I go into the bathroom, he follows me. Sometimes he brings his ball and tries to play pass with me, and sometimes he just tries to unroll toilet paper and get into as much as he can while he has the chance! 

He's a cutie, that's for sure. I love my one on one time with him while Boston's at school. 

He loves to ride the horse that the Reeves gave us when they moved. He calls it sissy, which is how he says horsey. 

Brody will be at a fun age for the pool this year. 

He's the perfect size for the little toddler area at our neighborhood pool. 

He also loves his covered floatie that he got from his grandma Heidi for his 1st birthday. 

Brody is still working on being nice to Boston, but they've been playing and getting along a lot better lately. 

 Boston is a great big brother to Brody. 

Brody brings so much joy to our family. We sure love him! 

Last Year in My Twenties, and My New Stroller!

I turned 29 this year! I'm sad I only have one more year in my 20's! 

Scott went into work a little later on my birthday so that I could do a track workout that morning with some friends. It was an awesome birthday present! I loved it! I got home about 7:30, just in time to walk Boston to school with Scott. I got to open a few presents from Scott when we got back from taking Boston to school. He picked out the shirt I'm wearing in the picture, a running belt, some running shorts, and some shoes. I loved them all! Then I taught my water aerobics class. I went straight to a Relief Society lunch activity after my water class, and then home for an hour before Brody and I walked to pick Boston up from school. 

Scott got home a little early that night and brought some yummy dessert with him from Cupcake Couture. We had planned to go out to eat, but I decided I'd rather stay home. 

I also got my dream come true of a stroller about a week before my birthday!!

It all started when I borrowed my neighbors double Bob one morning to take Brody for a run because my stroller had a flat tire. The Bob was amazing!! It was so much lighter and easier to maneuver than my John Deere stroller. After running with the Bob, I knew I wouldn't be able to run with the John Deere anymore. Up until that point, I had no idea what I had been missing out on!! My weekly mileage had recently increased to where I was needing to do 9 miles with my stroller, and pushing the heavy John Deere around our hilly neighborhood for 9 miles made me not like running very much, so I started my obsessive search to find an awesome deal on a used Bob. I researched and figured out what I wanted, joined online garage sale groups, and checked craigslist ALL the time. 

I also put my beloved John Deere stroller up for sale on the online garage sale groups and craigslist. It felt like I was selling a pet. I spent a lot of time with this stroller for the past 6 years, and it was hard to think of getting rid of it! I have so many good memories with this stroller, but it was time to move on. :( (We did end up selling it for $80, so I was really happy with that because I felt like I had gotten more than my money's worth out of it already!)

Now the exciting story of how I found my Bob! I saw a post on craigslist about a moving sale, and she had posted a picture of a Bob. It didn't have a price listed, and she didn't return any of my emails asking about how much it was, or if it was still available. The moving sale was starting at 9:00am Friday morning. I decided to find a last minute sub for my water class Thursday night so that I could get to the sale first thing Friday morning. It was about a 35 minute drive for me, and I was so nervous the entire way there! I wanted this Bob so bad, and I was so worried I would get there right after someone else just bought it. I was literally gripping the steering wheel the entire drive there, hoping I didn't get a sub for my water class for nothing. I pulled up to the yard sale and breathed a huge sigh of relief when I saw it was still there. When I got out of my car, she asked if I was Michelle. My heart dropped to my feet, and I disappointedly said no. Then she said, "That's ok, first come, first serve!" Now I was so very grateful I had gotten a sub for my water class!! I was even more grateful when she told me she was selling it for $160!! They sell for over $300 new, so that was an awesome price!! It was in great shape, and even had the cup holder accessory that I wanted. I put the stroller in my trunk and called Scott. I was so happy that everything worked out so perfectly, I even teared up a little bit. It was the best day ever!

Brody and I sure do love the Bob!! Brody is so good in the stroller! He absolutely loves being outside and looking around while I run. He likes to say hi to anyone we pass by, and he gets really excited if he sees a dog and yells, "Dog!" He fell asleep on this run even though it was hours until he normally naps. I guess it's really relaxing for him, or maybe he was just extra tired.

The weekend of my birthday, I got to go to Time Out For Women with some friends from my ward. It was a blast! We got a hotel Friday night in downtown San Antonio close to where the conference was. We went to dinner, heard uplifting talks and music at the conference, and stayed up late talking and laughing. Then we enjoyed uplifting talks and music all day Saturday with a quick lunch break. My friend Heather and I tried to study a little bit of choreography for a class we teach at the gym during the breaks. We had a practice to attend right after the conference was over. It was so fun bonding with some of the girls in my ward! When I got home, Scott had cleaned the house, had fun the with the boys, and did an amazing job being super dad! It was the best weekend! I absolutely loved it. 

Looks like my last year in my 20's is off to a great start! I feel so blessed!
