photo challenge: 20-29

wahoo! we made it, people! i finished the photo a day challenge for february! here's how i finished it off:

 here's a favorite photo of myself: i would put Ruby in that outfit in a heartbeat. i wish i still had it...

i skipped day 22 because i already have a photo of where i work.

here are my shoes on day 23:

i skipped day 24 because nobody wants to see the inside of my bathroom cabinet. boooring.

this was my "green" on day 25:

i skipped night because i couldn't get a good picture. i'm still trying to figure out how to use my camera in low lighting...let's not talk about it.
since i felt so dumb about not getting a good picture on the 26th, i took a photo of something i ate on day 27: sourdough toast for lunch. exciting, no? this is why i usually skip the boring stuff...

money on day 28: i accidentally left the diaper bag unzipped. i guess i didn't learn my lesson.

 and i listened to Ruby yelling "QUACK!" over lunch on day 29:

and we're done. finally! i liked this challenge most days, but other days i felt like it was a chore. i'm just glad i kept up with it all the way through. i'm not sure if i'll participate in the march photo a day challenge  even though some of the days look like fun ideas... i guess we'll see. 

this week

downs:
-the crazy temper tantrum Ruby threw in the store the other day. i was that parent. people stared. she wanted so badly to be down, running, pulling things off shelves, causing mayhem. at one point she tried to leap from my arms in one of those death-defying, acrobatic moves and i almost lost her. as she twisted and lunged her body i heard a loud pop come from her hip and she started crying. i honestly thought i was going to have to take her to the hospital, but she turned out to be fine. she stopped crying almost immediately (i think it scared her but she wasn't hurt). after a quick inspection, i set her down to see if she could put weight on it. she took off like she was running for her life and tore apart 3 displays before i could catch her again. it reminded me of this article.
-having a real-life panic attack yesterday when i realized Ruby's turning one in less than a week.
-can i just put a product review here? i'm so fed up with baby products that fall apart and don't do what there're supposed to. a bottle brush should last longer than 3 days, no? and a stay-put plate should stay put, right? i think so anyway...ahem, munchkin.
-this dreft commercial that made me cry:
"you have a child forever, but a baby for just one year..."
dang it, dreft! don't you know i'm on the verge of another emotional breakdown?! shame on you! SHAME!

ups:
-deciding Roo is at my favorite age by far.
-watching Ruby climb on to a box of diapers and give a 15 minute speech. she yelled gibberish with her head held high as though she were addressing a huge audience. i would've recorded it, except i was busy spotting her (in case she decided to go crowd surfing).
-the hubs cooking an elaborate dinner the other night because i said was burnt out. he went on pinterest for the recipe. he went on pinterest!!! and he used a recipe!!! exclamation point!!!
-finding my baby photos after i thought they were lost forever.
-Ruby and my new nap routine. she's down to one nap a day, in the morning. i know it's supposed to be in the afternoon, but this is how she likes it. we nap for a couple hours and then cuddle and chat for half an hour after we wake up. it's pure heaven.
-listening to Roo read books to herself. she is my child.

Tyler's mom, Pam sent me some of his baby photos back when Ruby was born and i can't get enough of them. he was so precious! it's no wonder Roo is such a cutie with this guy as her dada.

oh and Pam still has this highchair. the grand-babies use it every time we visit. it's a gooder.

memory lane: mama

i was looking for a picture for this photo challenge i've been doing the other day, and i stumbled upon some gems. baby photos galore! and who gets to benefit from my awesome findings? YOU do! i was a truly adorable baby. don't believe me? feast your eyes on the cuteness:

the bunnies are multiplying!
a friend gave Ruby these bunny slippers for Christmas and she just grew in to them. i can't get over how adorable they are on her.

photo challenge: 10-19

ok. i've gotten a little lazy, but i'm still (sort of) hanging in there with this photo challenge. i skipped a few, but here's what i have so far:
for day 10 (self portrait) i used this photo.
this made me happy on day 11:

 i took this photo of the inside of my closet for day 12:

i skipped day 13 (blue) out of bitterness towards the weather. we had something like a week of great weather and then it all fell apart on lucky 13. rain, snow, wind, and i honestly don't think the sun came out at all that day. it was dark and gloomy and there wasn't a bit of blue sky to be found. yuck.
day 14 was a huge improvement. i snapped this photo of Roo with a valentine's day balloon for "heart", and i think it's my favorite so far:

skipped "phone" because i thought it was boring...
on day 16 i took this picture with my phone (can that count as my "phone" picture?) of "something new". the "something new" here is the giant scrape down Ruby's chin. she was running around the living room carrying a board book and tripped. it was a bleeder, but she was so tough! poor little scarface.

time on day 17 was skipped because i didn't have any (see what i did there?).

i'm not all that happy with my pictures this time around, but i'm glad i'm at least keeping up with the challenge. maybe i'll actually see this whole thing through after all! knock on wood.
