Kinder Baby

Tuesday I registered my first baby for kindergarten! How can this be? Wasn't he just born? Seems like he was just tiny a few months ago!

I have to say, James was SO excited to be at the elementary school. He couldn't figure out why I wasn't leaving him there to learn and go to recess! I tried to explain that we were just signing him up so that he could start school in the fall (many, many months from now.) Oh, the disappointment in his eyes! I believe he responded with "but that is forever away!"

I was trying my best to put on a happy face and be excited for him, but inside I'm dying thinking about the day my first baby will leave the protection of my house and go out into the world. Overreaction? Maybe. But I can't help myself. I think about my days without him here and my heart aches. He's such a big part of our family and is such a sweet, tender-hearted little thing. Even though I know he is going to love school, I have a hard time being glad that he's growing up.

My only consolation is, every stage he enters I seem to love more than the last. Every new thing he learns, I delight in along with him.

And it is only Kindergarten! It's not like he's going to boarding school.

Wy Guy

Wyatt officially started walking last Monday (3/7/11). He always could since he took his first steps a while back, it's just he didn't want to. He was so much faster at crawling!

Well, crawling is now pretty much a thing of the past. He tromps everywhere now! We bought him some shoes on Saturday, but he wont' wear them. He prefers to be barefoot!

In additional Wyatt news - he's communicating with us. He can nod his head yes, or shake it for no. And he knows which is which and when to use them. Ask him if he wants a banana (he currently LOVES those) and he will nod like crazy. But ask him if he wants a pickle, and he'll shake his head! It's terribly handy and really cute.

He tells me now when he's done with his milk, when he's all done with dinner, and when he has stinky pants. It's great to have a peek into his little mind!

Here he is in his Sunday best :)

My Deep Thinker

This is what James said to me the other day on the way to the grocery store:

James: "Mom?"
Me: "Yes?"
James: "I was just wondering, what happens when a doctor gets sick? Does he have to get himself medicine?"
Me: "He goes to his doctor. Then if he's sick, his doctor would give him medicine."
James: (After a long pause) "Oh. Ok. Yeah - that seems to make sense. Thanks."

That's my boy. Always deep in thought about the most random things. :)
