My Ward (Colonial 2nd Team A = C2A) Basketball Team is the 2010 Stake Champions! The semifinal and championship games were both decided by one point! My talent includes cheering and keeping the bench warm, but it was still fun to be a part of the team (and make a basket every once in a while). GO PINK!

Fruit Bouquets

I felt so crafty when these fruit bouquets I made for our Relief Society Birthday Celebration actually turned out pretty dang cute... and yummy too!

flat!

So you can't really tell from this picture, but my car had a flat tire. I covered up the view of the jack with the spare while I was waiting for the tow guy to come loosen the dang lug nuts. And it's not a great pic cause you can't even tell the tire is flat cause I had jacked up the tire of the ground. Which I later realized was the smart thing to do, cause as soon as the tow guy got there, he just had to let back down until the tire wouldn't rotate. Anyway... guess I learned that I can't really change a flat tire on my own. Good thing I learned that on a sunny saturday afternoon on the way to the bike shop to fix my bike's flat tire, rather than on a cold snowy january night or something.

On a brighter note, Isabella and I enjoyed daffodils in old town this week!

She's looking so grown up these days.

Health Nut

Last year, when my sister, Charity, and I were sharing a small bedroom in a Provo apartment, I made fun of her for eating healthy... She refused anything but 100% whole wheat bread, ate apples like they were candy, and bought boring cereals with granola and grains, and nothing like the Cinnamon Toast Crunch I adore.

Coming home from the grocery store, chowing down on the whole grain rice chips and Atkins Protein bar I had just bought at Harris Teeter, and carried home in my Organic reusable grocery bag, I realized, I've become way even more of health nut than even my sister. I'm busier than ever, but fit in two hour-long runs this week (definitely feeling it in the leg muscles tonight... like leg muscles I forgot existed), got in blueberries at work and can't wait to eat the frozen vegetables I stocked up on for the weekend.

Don't get me wrong, I also ate 5 choc chip cookies at work, but they are just so good right out of the oven...

Ok, friends, I think I'm ready to introduce my dating blog to you. It's been several months in the making, and is a bit more personal than I'm used to here in the blogging scene, but... pretty soon it's going to be part of a mormontimes.com dating contest, so I figure I better get used to people actually reading it.

I think I started it as sort of a therapeutic outlet from my dating frustrations. Also, for something to do with my time (which, funny thing, I don't have that much of lately). And also as way to work things out in my head, get them on to the paper, eventually to the computer, and hopefully not have to stay awake at night wondering if I'm making the right decisions. Dating is hard...so I might as well learn to have a little fun while I'm doing it, and hopefully learn something in the process. Please leave your feedback. If I win the second round on March 24th (PLEASE vote for me on that day) then I'll have to submit a second entry, and I'd like to know which one you think is best for round 2.

Thoughts running through my head this afternoon

RIP pile of snow/ice that I created during long hours of shoveling. You will NOT be missed.

Leftovers are a waste of effort/space. I should just throw away what I don't eat the first night.

Getting off early from work is like a whole new world. Never knew the hours from 3-6 could be so productive/liberating!

Chile Earthquake

My little brother is serving in the Vena del Mar, Chile mission. He called a day or two after the earthquake to let my parents know he was okay. He emailed us a few days later:

"So yep i was awakened and aroused Friday night by an earthquake in Chile. Where im at in Salamanca it was more of just a tremble. But for example down in Santiago about 5 hours from where I'm at and even more south in concepsion (12 hours) they felt it a lot worse. According to the update that I received from my mother there are 708 killed this number is new for me. I haven’t felt too worried because I can’t see the damage but my comp is from Santiago so he has a little bigger reason to worry and be concerned, but thankfully every thing is just fine with his family.

Braulio was successfully confirmed member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints On Sunday. Thanks for worrying about me. It shows that I'm not a forgotten fairy tail."

I'm interested to see how the missionary work progresses in Chile now. I'm totally blown away by this article about a mission president who was inspired to prepare his mission in Santiago for the earthquake weeks before it happened. I love this example of how inspired by God mission presidents are!
